I love makonnen was a criminally underrated musician who was stifled by categories, genres, labels and society. This level of creativity and genuine emotion is so hard to replicate in music in today.
It’s crazy because I was listening to one of his tracks rumour, same kind of creativity, someone asked me what genre it is and I didn’t know what to say. It didn’t really matter to me until I was asked. It’s crazy how those people were so quick to need to put this dudes music in a box. As if it has to be in one. It can’t just be Makonen.
Makonnen was like a trap Elton John. His music was from the soul paired up with the piano you can really hear the emotion it’s sad how underrated he is
