As we dive into one of the controversial F1 topics of recent times and has been here since 90's. As most drivers and fans emerged from Britain F1 fans have mostly been from that part. This signals all media being dedicated towards British F1 drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and George Russel.
Crazy news about driver lineups and much more they have always been critics of non-british drivers and this creates division between F1 fans which can be seen in recent times in social media.

Max is not sarcastic, just honest. And Sky F1 also serves other English speaking countries other than the UK. We are so tired of the Mercedes/Hamilton bias and quite had enough of Kravitz and Brundle’s hero worship of them. I was so glad when Verstappen and Red Bull cut Kravitz off, we need more of that. They should now, after 3WDC have some respect for Verstappen. We shall see in 2024.

Maybe even more telling about the heart of the matter is the fact that in the F1, a sport founded by the French for mostly Italian manufacturers, at the GP of Monza, a Sky presenter got the honour of doing the podium interviews in Italy, and started moaning about 'the queen'. Not a queeen, the queen, who had died at a respectable ages several days ago. That's something in British mentality we also see in other sports, a deep sitting sense of entitlement, an unawareness that there is nothing special about the British and all people have their national preferences and biases and the British have it too. The Dutch, the Germans, the Austrians, Spanish and even the Italians and the French understand it's the same for the others too, the Brits just don't.
On top of that, Hamilton was already crowned future 10fold WDC after a few F1 races, the frustration about the greatness of Schumacher, indeed not the easiest to love rival, was so huge that Hamilton was prepared from a young age to break his records. And then suddenly there was this other German guy Vettel, winning in basically a Minardi, and winning WDC beating Hamilton in a much more modest team, only adding to the frustration. Then Mercedes came to the rescue with the most supreme car in the history of F1 for by far the longest time, and he got beaten by Rosberg while Vettel drove much more impressively with Ferrari later on. Then it got really toxic, and the whole world, from the media to the race director, the technical regulation and the stewards turned against him.
And then Verstappen showed to be the better driver and with the Mercedes not being far superior, the purely statistical narrative of Hamilton being one of the greatest ever, had to be protected against a fair competitive fight. That's how Russell got bad press too. What's going on with Hamilton is very different from other British drivers and it got to another degree of toxic, Max was not only clearly the best driver but the Dutch fans were doing great too, so those had to be slandered as misogynist and racist, suddenly the famously monolingual British media knew the finer details of Portugues racial terms to slander Verstappen's father in law, the Dutch were terribly racist because British F1 driver no 163 happens to be black and the Dutch only had less than a dozen F1 drivers, all white. Silverstone was supposed to have the best atmosphere, with all the booing and cheering for sending a rival to the hospital. Nevermind it was England where Hamilton was bullied for a being a black kid. For me as a Dutchman getting told by the British we are racist, that is really too much.

Ted Kravitz is the only explicitly biased one at Sky F1 imo.
As for Verstappen, it blows my mind to see the hypocrisy from Team LH fans. According to them, 2023 was boring, and Max only won because of the car. Completely ignoring the performance of the other RB19 driver, Perez, and failing to mention that from 2014 to 2020 Mercedes had such a dominant car that they consistently scored 1 and 2 in qualifying and many races no matter who Hamilton's teammate was. They also spent $700 million a year on their car, compared to $200 to $300 million for other teams. These days, there's a cost cap, and Verstappen is performing at a spectacular level and destroying his teammate.
F1 endured eight long years of almost total Mercedes dominance, and now they're pissy because Max had one really good season? I'm an F1 fan, and this year showcased one of the most spectacular talents I've ever seen in the sport. It was magnificent stuff. I want to see other teams challenge Red Bull more, too, but it's not Verstappen's fault that no one can catch him right now. What's wrong with someone other than Hamilton having their moment to shine?
I have nothing against Hamilton. He's a superb driver, and I was particularly impressed by how gracious he was after the race in Abu Dhabi in 2021. But his fans are absolutely insane. They're either whining about Max, ranting about Abu Dhabi '21, or making death threats against George Russell.
As an aside, I think Lando Norris is an absolutely superb driver. He was closer to Max than anyone else last year. I think he'll get better and better.

Thank you so much for airing this video, it has been a long time coming! Bias towards British drivers and British teams, especially, Mercedes (which is odd since they are a German company!). However, when I was in Germany a few years ago, I watched an F1 race on the German RDL channel and the commentators were very biased to German drivers (Vettel and Rosberg), so I'm sure it's the same in every country that has a driver in F1. That doesn't make it right though. I often think how nice a world this would be without borders and countries that feel the need to be superior to each other. We are all one race, the human race, and we all came from the same source. Competitive sports can be fun to watch, but it breeds so much animosity amongst countries and their citizens, that seem to want to live their lives vicariously through there sports personas. Having said that, I still enjoy F1 and root for the driver I feel is talented, and fun to watch. That's what they are there for. They are just pawns for F1, the FIA, huge sponsors, and the fans. Therefore, each one of these parties feel it's OK to exploit them as if they were cattle. But, they are people, people with feelings like all of us, and should be treated equally by all concerned with the sport, especially F1 commentators and interviewers, as they greatly affect how we see these drivers personalities. Just my opinion - you're welcome to voice yours.

I don't think we are disputing that in various countries the media will support their drivers. However, with SkySports they are always supporting british drivers. For example at the Austrian Grand Prix - they made such a huff and puff about MV, and not admitting that LN was wrong and had been served a penalty after he retired. They spoke as friends, however the media kept pushing the agenda along with Zak Brown, Stella and Crofty... They see their drivers as doing no wrong. It will be a miracle. They can't congratulate RBR and MV for winning Barcelona, still claiming it is the car and not the driver, the Austrian sprint the fact MV took back P1 without DRS and giving him props they just stated that it was LN's fault.... it's problematic and yet we as fan bases can be toxic as well. As MV said he doesn't give a sh*t about the media, his life goes on, all he cares about is his friendships.

I'm British and have no love for either Hamilton or Russell.
In the last few years certainly (longer for Hamilton in my opinion), both have shown to be incapable of taking ownership of their own mistakes, and are far to quick to pass blame onto others. Whether this be other drivers on the course, one another or their own engineers, everything they do is without approach and it's everyone else who screws them over.
Hamilton spent the longest stretch of time at the top, not because he was the greatest driver but because he was in part, a member of the most dominant team. This is not to try and diminish his talent, but given the same machinery, I don't believe he would have even half of the World Championships he gained.
Until Sky Sports understand that Hamilton and Russell have been just as, if not more dangerous than they claimed Verstappen to be, then this claim of bias will sadly remain (and rightfully so).

I fully agree with you and i had time to dive into history. The British admiereing of German organisation dates back to the early 1600ds. At this point in time the British navy was beaten left right and center by the Dutch. England hadn't a standing army to speak of. English traders came across a little state called Pruissia it was the offspring of a cruisaidor outpost in nowadays north east Poland. The whole society was militarised. The writings of that experence are stunning. There lies the spark of the admiering of Pruissian and later German organisation and later engineering.
Leading up to the Great War the young German state build up their navy to match the British. The plans were made, a course was set and the funds neccecery were freed by gouverment decission for the whole project. In England the situation was very different. There the Admirality had to beg for funds every single year to keep their extensive fleet maintained let alone extended. The German fleet was eventualy scuttled at Scapa Flow by German act after the surender.
In the Interbellum GP racing started and after '33 the German brands of Mercedes and Auto-Union (current Audi) got state funding for their racing and engine developmental work. In the 6 years from '33 up and until '39 the German brands won almost everyting. After the war Auto-Union found itself behind the iron curtain and before the border was closed off completely the Audi division of Auto-Union escaped to West-Germany. In a few years racing resumed, Mercedes entered F1 in '53 and Porsche entered Le Mans in the same year to 'connect again frienly'. Both won, not instantly but still.
In my opinion there is the allmost divine admaration for German engineering by the British is coming from.
Hamilton is defenetly talented otherwise he was never picked up by Ron Dennis who payed for his whole karting and junior single seaters carreer. At the point Lewis was debuing for McLaren the last Champion from the British Isles was Nigel Mansell about 20 years ago. In his debute season he almost got it and even Alonso was done dirty by Dennis to give his protege the best chance. The whole of Britania was on the Hamilton Hype train and no means to stop it. After Hamilton won the 2008 season a little lucky he was regarded the best thing ever hapened since the invention of Beer.
In 2013 he joined Mercedes and hopes were up again. How could the best driver off all time in an overly engineered German build Mercedes and Mercedes power being stopped? 2013 wasn't great so panic struck and then 2014 arived and the rest is history.

    1. F1's own media team should be an international journalists team. Plenty of excellent and available pundits from all over the globe out there that speak near-fluent English.

What made Murry Walker so great is that we knew he had preferences for British drivers- he often admitted as such on live TV. But he would get so excited no matter who did something exciting. Regarding recent times it just means, I think, RB and Max are an outstanding team.
And concerning the bias I think it's normal for people rooting for their fellow country men but this shouldn't be the case in reporting or journalism: should be inpartial how difficult that may be.

Max is very good. The reason why Lewis hasn't won during the last 2 seasons is his car isn't fast enough at most tracks and Redbull have built an great car, which most teams cannot come close to on race pace. The car is very reliable and there is a definite hierarchy in the Redbull team. Perez is a good driver, but he isn't in Verstappen's league, and this is not helped by the way that the car is configured, which does not work to his strengths.
Mercedes were dominant, during the first 3 seasons after the change to hybrid engine cars (2014-2016). Verstappen won his first race in 2016, at the age of 18, this was due to Hamilton and Rosberg colliding on the first lap, and then some very good driving by Verstappen.
Reliability of most of the cars in F1 has dramatically improved. Yes, you do get the odd breakdown but for the top teams, these are rare events. Mercedes, are also looking for drivers, who can be at a close level to each other. You may point out that Valtteri Bottas wasn't, but if you look early in his career, Bottas was considered a very good driver, and on his day he could challenge and beat Hamilton, but he just wasn't good enough.
With George Russell is also considered a very good driver and he can challenge, and beat Hamilton at times. The issue with Russell is his reliability and the fact that currently, he is making too many mistake. Something which is not unusual in F1 drivers during a certain point in their career and I would say Hamilton and Verstappen, were both guilty of this as well.
Then we have the Mercedes car, which is very race specific in terms of capabilities, with the car not being competitive for the win at 95% of tracks during this season, and at those tracks the Red Bull was still just as good.
Then we get to the is Hamilton the best driver of his of all time? Personally, I would say it is very hard to judge who is the greatest of all time. Plenty will say it is Ayrton Senna, or Michael Schumacher. Personally, I think that Jim Clark is for me one of the greatest drivers of all time, but I wouldn't say that he was the best, and I wouldn't say that any other driver was the best, because you cannot easily compare drivers of different time periods.
What is certainly true is that really good drivers generally end up at the top teams, and earning huge amounts of money. Hamilton came into a top team, with McLaren in 2007 and he was very good during that first season coming close to winning the F1 championship, and equaling Fernando Alonso on points in the championship, and Alonso is an excellent driver. After, his 2008 Championship win, the McLaren wasn't the fastest car after, and he did make a lot of mistakes and was over aggressive after that, which is why he lost to Button in the 2011 season. But Hamilton did learn, from that and beat Button in 2012, before going to Mercedes in 2013 and with 2014 in a very dominant car, his only competition was his team mate.
We can see very similar things with Verstappen. He was seen like Hamilton as being a great talent and he was signed up with a very good team in Red Bull. He was very good, to begin with but during his first two seasons he was beaten by Daniel Ricciardo but from 2018 he was certainly the number 1 in Redbull, even though it was still arguable that he was a still over aggressive as a driver.
There are various arguments as to whom the best driver in 2023 and I would say that Verstappen probably is, though it is easier when you have a dominant car and not a huge amount of competition (and I would say the Mercedes 2019/20 cars show this).
My last point is this. The vast majority of performance comes from the car, with the driver topping it off. A great driver can make a bad car look much better than it actually is in certain conditions, but he is never going to beat a great driver in a great car, unless something goes wrong with that car. I would also say that it is rare that a great driver in a good car is going to beat a great driver in a great car, unless it is down to something track specific or something goes wrong with other car.
So I hope that explains some of the things that you seemed confused with. I have tried to be as unbiased as possible.

Sky sports biggest problem is that they are incredibly boring I think most people will agree that they now flick through most of the BS and just get to the race. The pre-race analogy used to be interesting to watch now it's a load of personal interest stories from people who have never driven a formula 1 car and they're trying to make stories out of anything gossip mainly it's a shocking display from a previously great presentation

I'm not a Brit, but have lived a lot abroad and outside of Europe, Sky is often the only broadcaster available. And if there's another available it is biased as well if they have their own driver in. But not in the way I've seen Sky do it. In the Vettel RB days, I liked the new rebel team, I liked Vettel. But watching Sky, they made me feel bad for supporting him. I was supporting the bad guy and no matter what Vettel did, they always found an excuse or something to complain about, if it was only his finger at the podium ceremony. The only Vettel win ever that was cheered for on Sky was probably his first in a Torro Rosso. And that's the difference, in other biased media they cheer for their man, at Sky they talk bad about all others. Using F1 tv now, it's still heavily British biased, but not toxic, and that's normal, like Fernando said, the crews, presenters ect are mostly Brits and a bit of national pride there's nothing wrong with it.

(2021 don't count because Masi gifted him that one ) Without the Car Max is just another pretty good driver ( actually without a car he's technically a pedestrian) Perez is Crap (it's why he got sacked at McLaren) Bottas was quick but inconsistent Hamilton was well, better than Alonso as rookie when Alonso s
was current 2x wdc ( Ouch that still has to smart doesn't it?). Hamilton also beat Rosberg who was good enough to make the Great MSC look average in the Merc. So Hamilton has Proved he can Race. Max has Managed at RBR to be as good as Ricciardo, and better than Gasley Perez and Albon

If you try and watch the Olympics on the BBC, all you see it British people. If people think that Hamilton won his titles because of his skills and not his cars dominance, then they can't suddenly be screaming that Verstappen is winning just because his car is fastest!
It's always a mixture of car, driver, team and sheer luck!
Hamilton had many years of having the best car and great luck on his side...........now it's Verstappens turn.........as for the Abu Dhabi GP in 2021, if the tables had been turned Hamilton would have done exactly the same thing if he had been behind and on the fresher tyres. I have heard people say he wouldn't because he's a sportsman, of course he would because he's a racer! Unquestionably, the FIA's rules and regulations are resolute and unwavering. That being said, it's clear that the FIA handed Verstappen his first F1 championship on a golden platter, when the FIA, under instructions from the Liberty Media group, made two unprecedented moves at the end of the 2021 finale at Abu Dhabi.
To reset the stage: Lewis Hamilton was in the lead, with five cars between himself and Verstappen. The FIA's first controversial move came after Latifi hit the barrier, prompting the FIA to order the Safety car on track, rather than the typical "Virtual" Safety car... thus allowing Verstappen to enter the pits to take on new tires.
The FIA's next controversial move was to allow the five lapped cars that were between Hamilton and Verstappen to move back past Hamilton and take position at the back of the pack, which absolutely gave Verstappen the upper hand during the restart, having just received new tires for the final lap.
The FIA's decisions were both controversial and unprecedented, and both were made with the intention of delivering the 2021 championship to Red Bull and Verstappen!
