      THANK YOU!! Your feedback means so much to us. That is amazing you met your wife while she was working on the base!! Unexpected moments usually turn out to be the best ones.
      Thank you again for your support especially all the way from New Jersey. Fall weather is upon you so we hope the upcoming videos help bring some of the island warmth to you and the Mrs!! Mahalo nui loa!!🤙🏼🌺😊

    It actually the Kaneohe Marine Corp Base. Thank you for giving the honu a shout out with the safety precaution. Growing up in Hawai'i, I never saw a wild honu or Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. Even though I live on O'ahu, I enjoyed your video!

      Mahlo nui Braddah Bruce for letting us know the name of the base. We appreciate any additional information anyone shares with us so that we know the correct information moving forward. The honu is such a beautiful animal and it's special to us when we get to see one...like a small little blessing.
      We definitely 💯% believe in the saying "Malama 'aina" and its important for those that come to visit Hawai'i to know how important it is to care for and honor the land as it's home to so many...people, animals, and creatures. We're here to do "our" part and respect the 'aina. 😉🤙🏼🌺
      It's surprising to know that you never saw a wild honu growing up on the island, but being distracted by the beauty of the island...we could understand why not.
      Again mahalo for your support for our growing channel. We appreciate you Braddah Bruce!!

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel

      Mahalo for the correction...got confused with Ko'olau and Kualoa. Noting it for future!! 🤙🏼

    • @michelleternate-rodriguez8714
      @michelleternate-rodriguez8714 2 года назад

      Braddah Bruce no way did we take the corrections as disrespectful. We are very open to learning everything about places we go to so we always know better for future visits and just in general. No worries at all!!
      Still such a surprise about honu!!
      As much as we wanted to try shave ice (lol not shaved ice) we only got to try one spot (Matsumoto). We had Waiole on our list but time was against us. Another viewer also recommended a few other spots like Aoki and Kaimana both in North Shore.
      Definitely repeated trips are necessary!! Mahalo again and Happy Aloha Friday!! 🤙🏽🌈🌺

      You are indeed correct!! We saw at least 3 or 4 while we out in the sandbar. It was so cool to watch them all fly by. They are pretty loud too!! The fish were so beautiful. Unfortunately, we used one of those clear plastic cases for our phones so when we recorded it, it wasn't as clear as we would've liked, but the turtle did come out better!! Thank you for your continued support for the channel. We really appreciate you!! 😊🤙❤️

I used to go out there a lot to fish with a bunch of friends on my friend's boat and we'd end the day at the Sandbar. It is beautiful. Hi is it better to do the first session or second session? Im going next month in June. I have a 10 year old son… i was worried that the water level would rise high by the second session…

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Patty!! We’re so excited for you to be visiting O’ahu next month. We generally go to the Kaneohe sandbar in the first session as the tides are usually lower in the mornings and tend to rise around lunch or after. It’s also nice attending the first session as you can see the sun slowly rise better on that side of the island. Not sure how tall Aiden is but for me (Michelle) I’m 5ft and it has always averaged around my waist or just slightly above. Hope that helps and we hope you two have a great time! We hope you get a chance to see some honu (turtles)!!

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Barbara!! Yes you bring your own towels and can also bring a tote with you. Once you get on the boat there are plastic storage bins underneath all of the seats to store your belongings so that they stay dry the entire time. When you get back to the boat harbor, walk towards the general store and there are restrooms available for you to change. Also check out the general store as they do serve dole whip and have other great snacks!! Thank you so much for stopping in and taking a moment to check out our video. We hope you have a great time!!

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  Год назад +1

      Hi imdeemvp! In general during the summertimes (July - September) when we’ve gone it’s usually been about 3.5-4 ft deep on the sandbar. We also usually book the morning tour since we’ve checked the tide charts and the mornings seem to be where low tide occurs during that timeframe. There are other parts of the sandbar that you can walk to that get shallower as well since it’s such a large area but the general vicinity where the boat anchors is usually about that height when we’ve experienced it. Your 5ft of perfection and yourself will love it!! 😁Let us know how it goes for you all and thank you for taking a moment to check out our video!!

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Patty! There are several tour companies that go to the sandbar. We’ve only been with Captain Bruce and absolutely love the crew and the aloha spirit they share. Yes in the summer months the first session is definitely early but that’s usually the season when tides tend to be lower. As you get into the fall and spring they start at 9am. We completely understand that it can be a bit tough getting to that side of the island especially from Waikiki/Honolulu but the rewards you get with the sunrise and views of the Ko’olau Mountains…definitely worth it!!
