Incredible!!! he could do that diminuendo of the b flat at the end of this aria, one and another time...and always perfect. And his voice was so beautiful, and the passion of every word. Corelli number one!!!

I absolutely adore his singing the Italian repertoire. Perfetto! But he sounds uncomfortable singing in French. For me, the most wonderful interpretation is the Roberto Alagna recording from Covent Garden with Leontina Vaduva as Juliet! Spine tingling!
His voice is not suited for this role no matter how grandiose it was. His techique was defective no matter how much we love Corelli, indeed one of the greatest tenors of the XXth century.
His voice is fine for the role. His technique was NOT defective. You simply don't sing with a top level voice, with impressive dynamic, for 25 years, with a "defective" technique.
Franco corelli is one of my favorite tenors that ever lived but his voice doesnt really go with this song his voice is way to dramatic and heavy which i like more then anything but not for this aria the tenor that best fits this aria is jussi bjorling

This might be from a Philadelphia performance in, I believe 1964. Mauro Lampi (a.k.a Maurice Stern) was singing here as Tybalt, I think? French stylist? Forget about it but the voice itself is amazing. Unlike any other.
