I worked at a hotel that had a contract with American Airlines, and the fact that it took 2 days to find her makes sense based on the system used for flight crew rooms. Airlines will book rooms for months at a time, in the hotel system the room is checked in under the name “American Airlines” for the duration of the contract (sometimes months at a time). The room remains checked in because American Airlines pays for the room regardless of if it is occupied or not. They will offen keep a few empty rooms “on retainer” just in case flights get unexpectedly delayed or crews get diverted. When a crew member checks in, they write their name in a binder at the check in desk, along with their expected departure date and time. When a crew member checks out, they sign out in the binder and that’s how the hotel knows to clean the room. If she never signed out, housekeeping would not check the room right away since changes in flight crew schedules are extremely common. Pilots are required to sleep a certain number of hours before flying, because of this, housekeepers are specifically told NOT to check on flight crew rooms unless specifically assigned by a supervisor who has confirmed the room is vacant. A front desk agent may have called the room, but it is not uncommon for a phone call to go unanswered by a guest. The combination of all these circumstances in hindsight seem very suspect, but at the time these factors would have been viewed as a series of normal occurrences. Hope this helps to shed some light!
This is amazingly informative. Thank you sooo much for giving us this info. This is the best comment I've seen. Still sad that her airline didn't call for a welfare check.
That makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing. I work for a major airline and exactly how you explain it is what we do. But I would hope we would check on each other.
I’m a FA, when people stay at an airport hotel that is connected to the airport crew members are free to leave for the gate anytime unless they all agree to meet at the lobby at a specific time. Some FAs want to leave the hotel early to get coffee etc. When we are at an off-site hotel and there is a scheduled pickup van, the crew would absolutely not leave the hotel unless everyone is there. If American is missing the FA scheduled to work a flight that day there should and would be an investigation as to where they are. If someone doesn’t show up at the agreed upon time in the lobby we call. If no answer we tell the hotel personnel and they WILL send up security to check on them. That is standard. Someone dropped the ball.
@@belindarocky961 if a FA doesn’t show up for a flight it’s the responsibility of the company to locate the flight attendant. If there is a crew meeting at pickup time at the hotel and there is a missing crew member, it’s the flight attendant’s responsibility to notify the hotel and get their security team to go to the room.
@@belindarocky961 I’ve never heard of this happening before at a hotel. There have been flight attendants that have been killed and didn’t show up for work and the airline has contacted the police when they couldn’t talk to them
@@belindarocky961 I know of flight attendants over the years who have passed away in a hotel room but they were found because their crew had hotel security go to the room.
I'm more concerned about the hotel. I work in one and especially a busy hotel will not let someone not check out for two full days. If you're not out by check out time, housekeeper will let themselves in and check if you're in or not... so many ppl fail that poor lady..
Unless the killer/thief switched the room booking/room number so security checked the wrong room! It's a very large hotel, busy, with, I'm sure, some rooms out of use (for two days) for repairs, refurbishment etc This smells like a robbery gone wrong 😢 Poor Diana 💐
Read @lexi9281's response. She explains why no one would've cleaned the room. She worked at a hotel that had contracts with two airlines and says that the rooms are always "checked out" because the airline is paying for them every day. The flight crews check in and out by signing a log, and if she hadn't signed it saying she was leaving the hotel wouldn't know to go look. And housekeepers are specifically told NOT to clean these rooms unless asked because of all the weird hours fight crews work, and therefore sleep at weird times. All from her comment. Extremely informative.
Two fight attendants speak anon, and the normal check list is not followed because the hotel was on the airport grounds. I can smell the BS through my computer screen.
Me too. I'm thinking the same thing. Something is fishing & SEVERAL people dropped the ball. I feel bad for her poor daughter. Losing both her parents so close together, & her mother so tragically 😢. Hopefully, they figure it out & give her some closure.
If we are at an attached hotel, the procedure is to meet at the gate for check-in. At all other hotels, if a crew member is a no-show on the van, someone will go to the front desk and have them call their room. If there is no answer, the hotel will send someone to check. Sadly, by the time Ms. Ramos was noticed as missing, the crew would have already been on the plane preparing for boarding. However, an agent should have informed the company, and somebody should have contacted the hotel. It sounds like she slipped through the cracks, a real tragedy.
I have such a hard time believing that a person with options other than placing a sock in their throat would choose to do so. If a fetish were involved, or it was the only method available, it may be reasonable. Those scenarios don't seem to apply in this instance. Condolences to Diana's family.
The only thing I can think of regarding the sock in the mouth is, considering that there seem to be no signs of trouble, is that she may have stuffed the sock into her mouth to prevent vomit coming out. That happens. She may have wanted to remain clean and respectable.
Surely, the hotel has security cameras which would show if anyone exited her room after she was last seen. I doubt the medical examiner would have kept her body if they believed it was suicide or accidental. Thanks, John!
Strange this should come out today. A Philly cop was just shot dead in the parking garage at the airport. the suspect was caught (amongst others) going through passenger's belongings and a gun was pulled and that's it for the officer....
I can see an inmate using a sock, because they don't have access to much. But if she wanted to harm herself, she would have access to much more. It has to be a homicide.
I worked as an AA FA and there are things we cover in our initial briefings. Diana would have been the # 1 so she would have most likely had the phone numbers of her crew or at least the hotel room numbers and the hotel room phone number. Sometimes phone numbers are not exchanged because it isn’t desired for others to have your personal number. This is because there have been some abuses (harassment’s) of personal phone number usage. The best way to prevent this is for the company to provide a company phone. Usually the procedure is if someone doesn’t show up in lobby at pre-scheduled van time then the lead would imitate a call to the room. If no answer then the lead would ask for a hotel rep to accompany them to do a room check. NOW BECAUSE THIS WAS AN ON SITE HOTEL THINGS ARE DIFFERENT. In this case the crew would have opted to meet at the gate or onboard the Aircraft. Now take note that that might mean that the meet up may have been close to the actual boarding time which can be as little as 30 to 45 minutes before departure time. IF they opted for that onboard meeting time: they would have them been checked in by the gate agents as present and accounted for. In that case they would NOT be allowed to go back through security to the on-site attached hotel to personally check the room. The next in line (THE #2) would have alerted the scheduling department of the airline so they could begin replacing that missing Flight Attendant. The scheduling department SHOULD HAVE alerted the INFLIGHT SUPERVISORS OR CREW SERVICES DEPARTMENT….. and that department should have become concerned about the crew members where snouts as that crew member went missing on an active trip. NOTE: an active trip can be 1 to 4 or 6 days depending on the airline. Still IF a crew member fails to show for a flight in an active sequence or trip the company should be activated to put some sort of search in place….. if for no other reason than to protect their own crews, airline, security. Now I think in general changes need to be put in place. I suggest that IF crews are staying at an on-site hotel IN BASE (as this was) the meet up should be done AT THE GATE AT LEAST AN HOUR PRIOR TO DEPARTURE WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT A CALL TO SCHEDULING WOULD BE MADE AT 45 MINUTES. PRIOR TO DEPARTURE TO INITIATE SEARCH PROTOCOLS. If the crew is at an on-site hotel OUT OF BASE: The Meet-Up Should be held at gate and a Phone Check In should happen 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to departure with the understanding any failure to meet that time line means that scheduling is called an alerted of a NO-SHOW and it’s likely the FA will be reprimanded by their supervisor.
None of the cases involving people dying with socks stuffed in their mouths recalled during this episode sound like they were “accidents”, they all sound like they were the result of homicide, with the exception of the autoerotic asphyxiation case. The inmates that died with socks in their mouths were clearly gagged by guards to be beaten to death. I would imagine the other inmate in the cell is lucky they were able to escape having it pinned on them. Not a single one of those was accidental, and I would be a fool if I actually accepted the findings of an internal investigation done by cops that says correctional officers weren’t involved and that they somehow killed themselves. As far as this case, hotel staff should be questioned and investigated, the comment that one person made questioning why they wouldn’t have inquired after TWO DAYS of her being in the room after check out date is correct. No hotel manager would ever let that slide. Ever. These people will come and open your room door without knocking an hour before checkout time if you’re still in the room. Why wasn’t her room checked, especially after calls were made specifically to check it out of concern? That is too suspicious.
Why would her hotel room not have been cleaned for two days? And what about payment for that room? Those are in addition to her not showing up for her shift, which is essentially also her flight back home. This whole story sounds suspicious! RIP, Diana Ramos 💔😭 Edit: It is possible to restrain an individual without leaving any marks, i.e., scratches or bruising.
As an answer to your final question, yes. I work in the mental health field, and sometimes it's unfortunately necessary to restrain patients. We're trained to do so in ways that will not harm the patient, and we've got soft, wide restraints that will not cause any bruising or damage. They're also used in hospitals for patients who are, for example, delirious, or semi-conscious following a stroke, and try to pull on the tubes and wires that are keeping them alive. It's not a pretty or fun part of medicine, but it's necessary.
@@thing_under_the_stairs What you're responding to wasn't a question of mine, but rather a statement. I stated that there were ways to restrain individuals without leaving any marks. But, yes, thank you for expanding upon my statement with actual explanations as to just how that can be accomplished and as to why, as well. 😉
@@gNome_5 Sorry, I only just noticed now that what you'd written *wasn't* a question! I'm feeling silly now! But yeah, there are plenty of ways to safely and humanely restrain people without leaving any marks. Now that I'm thinking about the subject, I'm wondering why law enforcement officers don't take some lessons from psych workers and ICU nurses?
So odd and tragic. If she was contemplating self harm to end her life, why the sock? There are so many other, more humane ways, to end it all. What a strange mystery. Seems something is definitely fishy. Especially the hotel waiting so long to check. Weird. Hopefully her daughter can heal and try to find peace. Thanks John for all you do.
My instinct is that someone working at the hotel probably thought the room would be empty (people think FAs will go out partying) and went in to rob the room and surprised her. They tied her up, put a sock in hey mouth to muffle her cries, not realising how easy it is for the sock/material to slip down her throat and choke her. She may have died when they were there, or they left her tied up and came back later - I've seen 2 crime cases where this sad, awful accidental death happened during a robbery 🤷🏽♀️ I think the thief knew, and may have switched her room number on the system to hide their tracks/buy time to run - hence when security checked her 'room' it was empty.... I strongly believe the police are lining up their evidence for an arrest. Physical FACT the human gag reflex would make someone pull out the obstruction UNLESS your hands are tied (and if the ropes are over a robe/nightie at the wrists, there wouldn't be extensive bruising.) My deep condolences to her loving family 💐
She was scheduled to be the lead flight attendant. No, I don't blame the crew for carrying on with the expected flight. However, did they notify someone at AA in Philadelphia so they could follow up with her being missing? Totally negligent.
Ok, so, you have back up ready in case of an illness or no show. However, she was a two decades on veteran, with a near perfect track record. That should count for something, even in a large airline company. This entire thing reeks. Also, my husband has worked hotel front desk management for more than a decade, and I can promise you, no motel/hotel is going to allow someone to just hang out in a room. Between payment and house keeping, someone is checking on rooms every day. As far as s*icide... I think this Woman would've wanted to hold onto her dignity, and choose to do such a thing on her time off, at home, with pics of her husband, and family, in her own space. Not in some random hotel, whilst on the clock, so to speak.
@Una, I remember watching a few TC videos where some of the discussion was aimed at individuals that rent hotel rooms specifically to and tragically take their lives. They do not want to be by the momentos of home, the ones you list, because the pain is already too unbearable. Also some do it in order not to put their loved ones through the trauma of finding them, so it does happen.
I’m a Flight Attendant you always have a van time for shuttle. We stick together. They probably tried to contact her. However you never wait because of your late to the gate your job is at stake.
The 'sealed bottles' statement I found odd. I cannot remember the last time I got a bottle of meds from a pharmacy that was sealed: either at the lid on the outside or sealed at the top on the inside. Maybe they were trying to imply her medications simply weren't taken--by her--in an off-label way or were new? So many more questions than just this as well as a former FA myself. RIP Diana Ramos. May justice be served if in fact there was nefarious outside involvement. Prayers up and condolences to her family and friends.
I was thinking the same but then I remembered getting those white bottles before. Like if you get 180 pills, and the manufacturer packaging holds 180 pills, they'll just put the rx label on that sealed bottle and give it to you Eta it's usually mail order, usually a 3 month supply. That would make sense for a flight attendant who might not be in town when she needs refills. The seal might be to prevent tampering with meds in the mail
And it seemed like a deliberate bone of information thrown to the family (by the homicide police, as a press 'leak') to let them know she didn't overdose or suicide....
I get a three months supply of my blood pressure, cholesterol, and cymbalta meds all sealed inside the bottles and in the bottles the pharmacy receives them in with original and pharmacy labels attached. I use CVS pharmacy. Perhaps she had finished up her other meds and threw the old bottles away elsewhere? Maybe that morning prior she took her meds at breakfast and intended to take the new ones in the morning🤷♀️ Someone did something to this lady is just my opinion. God rest her soul and prayers for her family to get answers. Im so sorry for yall's loss🙏😭💔💐
When a pharmacy has a medication the comes to them in the quantity the patient already needs, they don’t break the seal and dump it out into another bottle, that’s wasteful, so they just put their label onto the original stock bottle. That would explain why it was sealed…and maybe she had not broken the seal to take her meds… Also could be something that came in a blister pack from the pharmacy. Some prescription meds come that way too.
Of course there are individuals to call if a crew member never shows up or calls out. A number of issues that are odd here. Your instincts on this are right, John.
At 47:19 when John shows the picture of Diana's water salute coming home ceremony, there is a *beautiful rainbow* 🌈 that is very vibrant! ❤ RIP Diana ❤❤🌈🌈🌈
I've worked at several Marriott hotels and they never had indoor video. I'm not saying this one didn't I just am saying the ones I worked at didn't and it was because of privacy concerns for hotel guests. Privacy outweighs surveillance for our guests.
As someone that has worked in the hotel life for 5 years as both a front desk agent and housekeeping, this is definitely weird. Even if we were going to roll over a room (put it out of order and not clean it), we still go into the room. One to check that they are in fact checked out and two to strip the room of all the linen for wash. Even if the DND is up, we go into the room after check out time if they haven't requested a late check out. Maybe they were incredibly understaffed and just put rooms OOO without checking and stripping it. I don't know, very strange.

It bothers me so much. All you have to do is watch Ring surveillance videos to see how people get in. They lie in wait and follow you in just before you shut the door, or trick you into opening the door. There are tons of ways to do it. Cops also always say "they must have been known to her" which is asinine as well
If not for being able to prove his reasoning for said searches, i.e., this channel, then yes, it'd be extremely concerning! However, that being said, I do see your point. It just goes to show that context really matters! 🤔 😉
@NeatNoodle that is so true, I am studying to get my degree in Criminal Justice ...and I was researching a case that spoke about a guy's search history. 🤣 I thought I would have some explaining to do. I would just send law enforcement to my professors lol.
I drove US Air people around, when that was thing, as a taxi driver. They very rarely went together. I assumed they were tired of each other. Booking rooms (and the taxi rides themselves) worked differently for flight crew because they essentially had a permanent tab through the company. They walked in and got handed keys. I know this because the hotel actually had the contract with us. We went in with the crew member, and the hotel attendant immediately reached into the register and paid us in cash on each run. When she didn't check out, they probably just charged it to the tab and moved on with their day. The hotel's system probably only flags rooms that aren't paid for.
I'm sorry but the only reason that I'm aware of, for an individual to have a sock in their mouth. Is when someone else doesn't want you to make noise screaming... 🤔
This is a major American Airlines Hub. It is attached to the terminal which is home to the PHL base Flight Service Management offices. Why didn't American Airlines Management take the short trip to the hotel to check on the well being of this Flight Attendant. She was in that room for 48 hours! What the heck. It is suspicious and a sock doesn't cause a "sudden death".
I have a couple close friends in this industry and one thing i wanted to point out is if they are working a flight between two relatively large or busy airports they don't expect the same staff to be on the return flight. Moreover when they work the larger commercial flights (as opposed to charters) they are often assigned to several 'legs' of a journey. Suppose going from LAX, to PHL to Chicago to MSP then back to LAX. Not a simple round trip. There are some times when they are with the other staff in their hotel (which incidentally the airlines has rooms blocked off for its staff). If their schedule is to work from a large international or hub airport to a smaller regional airport, the same staff might be going at the same time since no one much goes from one regional airport to another, they mostly just go back to the closest large airport or hub.. In those cases they are probably with some of the same crew staff as they left with. AA is a large airlines they probably have a few hubs around the country and employ staff with home base in a variety of cities. As far as I've heard, it can be a crap shoot as to who they will work with on each flight. I don't know if, other than the supervisor, they would even know who to expect to work with that day. When they know, if someone doesn't show up, for all they know they took a sick day or traded schedules. I personally watch out for my friends.. But I really don't think their coworkers necessarily look out for them, unless they happen to be particularly friendly with each other, or they are just the type of person who is nosy like me. Like other places of employment there are some coworkers who are better friends than others. Some people are just not the type who want to hang with their coworkers on the off time. I don't claim to speak for anyone in this industry and I'm not in it myself; I only commented because I'm nosy and I ask my friends all the questions.
Nobody found her for 2 days 😳😳 Where was her team? Aint NOBODY got your back anymore!! And what hotel would wait for 2days ?? None. Prayers for this family and I hope they get answers but we all know odds are against it. That damn airline and hotel have alot of things to answer for. For one , did not one of them give a crap about this woman???? Remember this young and older ladies wanting to be or actively working stewardesses. Be safe and take precautions!! You are on your own out there and have to diligently protect yourself!! This is my personal opinion. Thank you John for all you do 😘😘😘 Blessings for all 🙏
I am very curious as to why her employer did call for a welfare check the day she missed her flight. But regarding the hotel, Read @lexi9281's response. This case is so incredibly sad but so confusing. There are so many scenarios I can see being a possibility. Regardless my heart breaks for her daughter and pray she gets justice for her mom. thank you, John, for covering Diana's case.
Are they looking at hotel employees or even for someone who may have entered & hid in the room prior to her checking in? In this case, ppl looking at film of someone following her in would be looking at the wrong timeframe. I sure hope there are hallway cameras… Prayers for her family and loved ones.
I fly often and sit in the first couple of rows. As everyone boards, I have heard conversations among the attendants. Often, it sounds like they are working together for the first time? Not certain there is a regular team working together? Secondly, housekeeping doesn't check the room for TWO days? I'm lucky if housekeeping isn't knocking at 9am even with the DND sign hung on the knob! Super suspish!
If you intend to take your own life it's because you're in pain. Surely if you had medication as a choice, you would do that instead!? A sock would be a last resort.
If she had layovers of a few days, she might be carrying meds because of being away from her home town to make sure she has them. Unopened until she needs them.
It is not that uncommon for people who are severely sad and devastated by tragedy to stuff their mouths with something like a cloth handkerchief etc....and then scream or cry uncontrollably. Psychologically, (I have been told by clients who have done this) the person feels such enormous grief they "want to scream and cry louder than the world can bear hearing." So unbelievably sad and painful just thinking about people in pain like this. I do not say this is what happened to Diana, yet people have been so overwhelmed by and even afraid of their grief that they have tried to stifle themselves this way. God Bless and if you are feeling super sad you are never alone...take care.
To be clear it i wasn't a sock it was a shirt, and her death has been rulled as unknown and undetermined from the autopsy report. Her dogs name was Coco. This is my grandma
Oh and all her shoes were missing from her luggage along with medication. The reason for not having her body was because we were waiting on American to provide her. Also we had some questions from the detective asking if her voice was raspy. Supposedly the hotel staff was turned away from the door by someone with a raspy voice.
Sad case - prayers for the family who have to suffer an untimely death of a loved one and potential murder. Its very odd all round but she could have self harmed following the death of her husband even if that was a couple of years ago? Regarding the hotel - I travel around a lot globally and the cleaning staff are usually ready to storm my room one minute after check out time - especially at the large hotel chains. Hotel cleaning records (often manual), phone, room service and CCTV should be interesting to view and who was being told what regarding room access.
I have to wonder what has happened to her. I am a retired (2018) AA FA. I am disturbed by several of the provided details. I know the crew is not to blame for the delay in her being discovered. Still the rag/sock is a curiosity. The meds is a strange mention. The door being locked is strange but these doors do lock upon exiting. One thing I read said no signs of struggle in the room is odd. I have to honestly wonder if we don’t have a transient serial killer yet to be connected to other deaths. After all some serial killers have chosen transient jobs like truck drivers. Maybe this killer avoids killing crew members but is active on their layovers. Perhaps this time Diana triggered the killers impulse.
When someone picks a lock, does it show as an unexpected entry? Or just as though a key (electric card) was used? I worked for 8 years at a major airport. They can be VERY huge. Like impossible, absolutely unreasonable to walk from an onsite hotel to the concourse and then the gate. I have to say that working protocol can be very sloppy. It is very possible management looked at that room, saw that it was still occupied and said, yeah that's an airline employee. Don't worry about it.
I just wonder if they actually had enough staff to clean that room....that looks like a pretty huge hotel, and considering the amount of people staying there, I would imagine that it would take a pretty large cleaning crew to service all of those rooms. It may have been put on the back burner for cleaning until the second day. That being said, if the remaining crew called and said that one person did not show up, and the airline called the hotel, it should have been checked, and if no response, it should have been entered by security......"IF" the airline called.
Theres a headline that grabbed me too A 51-year-old Mexican woman who flew nearly 5,000 kilometres to Peru to meet her online lover in person was murdered, dismembered, and had her organs harvested, according to The Independent. Her mutilated body was discovered floating in the water on the Huacho beach on November 9 by a local fisherman.
On one hand, I appreciate John covering this case about this lovely lady who unfortunately died, and also gave to a fund for the family. God bless them, and him. On the other hand, it's actually kinda frustrating. Well, how did she die? No autopsy done yet, but there was a sock stuffed in her mouth (I'm guessing her hands weren't bound too if not mentioned). She could have been strangled (which leaves very few marks) or poisoned (where the murderer got rid of the evidence after she died)...both times the murderer could have easily just stuffed a sock in her mouth after she died for the fun of it. Even tho it's the 11th (?) cause of suicide, the #1 type of suicide is overdosing on prescription drugs/alcohol for women. It had been 2 years since her husband had died and it wasn't even the day of his death...I agree with other commenters that if she would have committed suicide, she would have did it at her home with all her pictures or favorite things around her in familiar circumstances...not a random hotel room somewhere. I am around her age and I would never, ever think of using a sock to kill myself with. And no flight attendants that she worked with nor her Facebook page mention anything about depression, etc. OK, so no suicide...let's check the cameras in the hotel...nope, even tho there h-a-d to be a camera at least in the hallway...there's no footage released. So it could have been anybody who walked in with her or knocked at her door to be let in (no forced entry) but we don't know. Did she call to extend her stay on her credit card? Don't know...doubt it. LOL! It just gets hard to examine a case if there's almost no information about it. The only thing we know about the case is there was a sock in her mouth and either the crew or more likely the hotel screwed up on not checking up on her...which could have been a front desk person who was either new or too busy and then just forgot. Maybe this was the slow season for the hotel and so since nobody booked the room later, there wasn't any urgency to check and clean it until somebody booked it? Maybe with the staff shortages at many businesses, they were very short staffed at that time for cleaners? Doesn't help figure out the case tho. Poor lady. God bless her. My sympathies to her friends and family. Just wish there had been a little more information, I guess.
I have a hard time believing the hotel would not be checking the room closer to checkout time. Most hotels I have stayed in/worked at don't have cameras near guest rooms for privacy.

I used to work in reception holiday inn express, other hotels systems and processes may be different but none should allow guests staying over more than booked for unless guest extended their stay. Whenever someone was late checking out and had dnd sign housekeeper would report that to reception, we would then call the person. In case that guest did not answer the call, housekeeping were then allowed yo knock / enter. Because some guests left the hotel without checking out and forgot or didn’t bother to remove the dnd sign. We couldn’t leave our shift with room not checked out if it was in check out list, they had to be checked out or extended their stay. It feels negligent on hotel’s part. Or, like you said towards the end, someone from the hotel manipulated the data, but that would be a risky move, easy to find out.
Search the previous comments. Someone explained how rooms are booked for FAs and other airline employees. It explains why Diana's room would not have been checked even by housekeeping. Airlines pay well in advance for these rooms to make sure there employees always have lodging. It's like an continuous long-term rental. Still her case is a sad one.
@@plynn136 it should make no difference if they pay well in advance and do long term rental. Advance long term rental would be booking a number of rooms under airlines name and paid by airlines, during check-in the data would be updated to individual names and check out dates confirmed. If there are any rooms that are paid but vacant hotel staff should know which rooms they are as well. For safety purposes like fire evacuation, they must have current, up to date list for roll call. I really don’t see any justifiable reasons why they wouldn’t check the room that’s supposed to check out on the afternoon of check out day, let alone for 2 days.
@@cassie204 The rooms are booked in the name of "American Airlines". AA does not check in and out. The rooms are for the ongoing use of any AA personnel that needs a room while working. Find that post that I referred to-it will all make sense.
@@plynn136 i really can’t find this comment, what’s the username and how long ago was it posted? But honestly, your justification does not make sense to me. Hotel personnel must know if guests check out or stay over for housekeeping purposes. Also health and safety, hotel staff must know who’s in the rooms, how many guests in each room and which are occupied and which vacant even if paid for. In case of fire they must present roll call. A bunch of rooms with name American Airlines where they have no clue who’s in the room, how many occupants and if rooms are occupied or vacant would be pretty useless for fire brigade.
@@cassie204 The fire brigade? You are getting carried away. And I am not justifying anything. Every business has it's own culture which affects why and how things are done or not done. Of course those on the outside looking in will be critical maybe rightly so. It is entirely possible that Diana was murdered. The police are investigating.
That's true. But what would have been even more of a reason to find out where she was if the flight hadn't been overbooked with flight attendants. They had at least one over the minimum amount, apparently, so they didn't h-a-v-e to look for her or find a replacement for her. Kinda the perfect storm. Poor lady.
@@bettywith2girls If we're honest, I feel like they would've pulled in a replacement faster than putting any real effort into finding her. But I agree, it was sadly the perfect storm.
I have to agree with you John and so many of the comments, something is not adding up here. Hotels always have security systems, obviously they would have been reviewed by now, do the authorities know something they are not releasing? The two day gap really makes no sense, even if because she was an FA they give a little leeway. Surely had she not contacted them, they would have reached out to her. My heart goes out to Dianas family. It sounds via her sister-in-law that there had been more then enough grief in the family prior to her death, such a sad situation. 💔
If you are in the same crew and on the same trip with the Captain and FO and you were leaving on the same flight the following day that crew cannot leave missing a FA. They have to be replaced by another FA so why didn’t the Captain who is responsible for his crew or anyone like crew tracking find out where and why this FA was missing? Obviously if she is not there something is wrong! Why weren’t calls made that day to find her or check the room? How is it that the plane can leave and no one goes back to the hotel to find her? The Captain is in charge. Do we now live in a time that no one cares anymore?
At first I thought the deceased may have interrupted a robbery in progress,in her room. but then the lack of a struggle it may be unlikely. This. crime appears to be personal.
She did actually have some abrasions on her arms and face. Also, there are things that I can't tell you because perhaps no one has reported it because the police don't want it out. Diana did not commit suicide. She and Ray had been separated for years before he died. That's why she never contacted her former sister-in-law.
Also I’m curious…… did she ever report a Aerotoxic Fuming; Fume Event; Smoke Odor Fume Event? I ask this because I know personally you do often become depressed from experiencing such events especially if you have been in more than one. Also I have heard from several Aerotoxic Survivors who were threatened and one specifically from that same airline who claimed to have been almost ran off the road as her child slept in the backseat of her car. I myself was told by a fellow FA whom I did not know that I was going to end up like that girl in the movie Silkwood . At the time I didn’t know what the person was talking about and ignored the comment and then at a later time it was said to me again by a random FA I didn’t know who walked up and said it to me again. After that I looked up the Movie and watched it. I then realized I was likely being threatened for speaking up and out on the Aerotoxic Fumes. I had been trying to raise awareness in my workgroup of this health damaging issue. Was Diana Aerotoxic Fumed and if so had she filed reports on the incidents. Was she vocal on the subject? Was she suffering depression related to this and other stressors? I’m just curious. She could have become so depressed by exposures and the gaslighting and denials it is often met with by crews trying avoid the subject for fear of company mocking, or threats of termination.
This on the outside looks like a murder to me. I find it strange that nobody tried to check on her when she didn't show up for the flight,it feels like there should be protocols in place that should be followed when an employee who is scheduled to work a flight just suddenly doesn't show. Now saying all that I'm a widow as well so I know how tough that can be and how your grief can be triggered by certain dates. It's just hard to say for certain what happened here.
an old friend of mine told me a horrifying story about how she was slipped something in a drink and when she came to there was a guy trying to stuff a sock down her throat.
😢 rip diama ramos very interesting case never heard of her death. I watch so many F)A videos an most attendants will video tape their room before they enter. Its strange her co workers did not report her missing even her employer. The crew boarded sn left her wat. Her sister claim she stayed to herself an September was 2yrs her brother died😢
Still, there's no reason in the world l would put a sock im my mouth. It's not like l'm having field surgery performed on me and l have only my sock to put between my teeth to bite on if it hurts.
No mention of what she was wearing when they found her or said of evidence of s. assault? Is the sock not there to keep you quiet whilst such a horrific deed is being done and did she not put up a fight because they had a knife or a gun?
The rocker security bar would have been on the door as well. Hotel staff would have had a bit of trouble getting into the room. I'm a flight attendant and would love to know her autopsy results.
If I'm not mistaken, all the supposed 'sock suicides' were male. There are very different methods of suicide for men or women. I am a 988 suicide hotline specialist. I have been certified in a lot of different specialties as a requirement for my position. Based on that professional background and the profile presented here by John, I absolutely cannot see this flight attendant suiciding by shoving a sock in her mouth to choke on. This is murder plain and simple, and needs a full blown murder investigation to go back from square one and do it right.
Even if they checked they may have only opened end the the door far enough to see her bags still tethers, and depending on where she was they may have seen her in bed.. they won’t go all the way in right away,..
A plane can’t take off without all crew members it’s the law. So American had to know before take off because they have to have minimum crew on board. It’s a Federal law. They would have delayed that flight if they couldn’t get another FA quickly to work it.
@@LordanARTSThis is my grandma. The autopsy report shows a bunch of trauma, but the police said she had none and that the cause was unknown and undetermined. I saw her body with ripped ear lobes and a broken nose. Her nails cut close to the finger and her fingers were bright red and swollen. Marriott is saying they have no footage on that floor. The hotel staff was told by a person with a raspy voice that she needed another day through the crack in the door from the latch. Her dogs name was Coco

I don't at all want this to sound insensitive, but the examples of using a sock to end one's life seem to be when there were no other methods available. This seems like an extremely odd choice for anyone who had access to other means of doing that.
I’m not a beating person but If I was I would bet 99.9% chance it was one of the other flight attendants did it . See she was a senior flight attendant the other person wanted to get ahead only was is to tske her out so they move up the ladder they probably knew soemone that worked at the hotel or paid someone off not to check the room if someone called on it if they even did smh 🤦♀️ which sounds like to me they didn’t as it would be the head flight attendant in charge would be responsible to be doing to checks and obviously no one did and this person that works at the hotel probably took it off the nooks to be cleaned for a few days till it was needed or till he knew it would raise suspicions because the maids have a list of all rooms that have been used to be cleaned wether if there is soemone still in there or not they don’t go unchecked ever let alone uncleaned the airline she also waits for would of been and should of been also calling her an checking bf the hotel since she is not report for work and not answering her phone so once again soemone on the inside covered up plains and simple
Thanks for covering this, sad story! Sounds like she shouldn’t be flying I see where in the comments she was trying to bring a gun onboard the flight with her. She must be somewhat senior due to her age. My mom was a flight attendant from 1967-2022 1 in Seniority she regrets retiring but she is 77 now.
This makes the binders I have seen at the front desks of some hotels for sign-ins for Norfolk Southern and CSX staff make sense.
That makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing. I work for a major airline and exactly how you explain it is what we do. But I would hope we would check on each other.
We never sign out. Sometimes we turn our key in, but not always.
correct this is very useful and everyone should read this ! AA are the negligent party not the crew or the hotel
Can I ask you...are those checks/balances the responsibility of the airline itself (American)? Or the actual airport be involved in check on FA's?
@@belindarocky961 if a FA doesn’t show up for a flight it’s the responsibility of the company to locate the flight attendant. If there is a crew meeting at pickup time at the hotel and there is a missing crew member, it’s the flight attendant’s responsibility to notify the hotel and get their security team to go to the room.
@@ambrosiaemryssunfire4868interesting. It sounds like she sadly slipped through the cracks somehow, with no one checking on her for 2 days.
If a FA on a layover doesn’t show up their crew scheduling is supposed to contact them. If they can’t hotel security goes to the room.
It's a very large hotel, busy, with, I'm sure, some rooms out of use (for two days) for repairs, refurbishment etc
This smells like a robbery gone wrong 😢
Poor Diana 💐
I don't buy it for one minute
The only thing I can think of regarding the sock in the mouth is, considering that there seem to be no signs of trouble, is that she may have stuffed the sock into her mouth to prevent vomit coming out. That happens. She may have wanted to remain clean and respectable.
@@silverstuff182I had the same thought.
Surely, the hotel has security cameras which would show if anyone exited her room after she was last seen. I doubt the medical examiner would have kept her body if they believed it was suicide or accidental. Thanks, John!
The camera did not face her room.
If the crew is at an on-site hotel OUT OF BASE:
The Meet-Up Should be held at gate and a Phone Check In should happen 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to departure with the understanding any failure to meet that time line means that scheduling is called an alerted of a NO-SHOW and it’s likely the FA will be reprimanded by their supervisor.
RIP, Diana Ramos 💔😭
Edit: It is possible to restrain an individual without leaving any marks, i.e., scratches or bruising.

What you're responding to wasn't a question of mine, but rather a statement.
I stated that there were ways to restrain individuals without leaving any marks. But, yes, thank you for expanding upon my statement with actual explanations as to just how that can be accomplished and as to why, as well. 😉
It really bothers me when law enforcement and others make logical leaps about things like that. "No signs of forced entry" means nothing
@@gNome_5 Sorry, I only just noticed now that what you'd written *wasn't* a question! I'm feeling silly now! No harm, no foul-I'm sure we've all misread something a time or two. Some-maybe even quite often! LOL 😆
Insurance.
If your method of ending life was overdose, you would use the sock to ensure suffocation during unconscious vomit.
She may have died when they were there, or they left her tied up and came back later - I've seen 2 crime cases where this sad, awful accidental death happened during a robbery 🤷🏽♀️
I think the thief knew, and may have switched her room number on the system to hide their tracks/buy time to run - hence when security checked her 'room' it was empty....
I strongly believe the police are lining up their evidence for an arrest.
Physical FACT the human gag reflex would make someone pull out the obstruction UNLESS your hands are tied (and if the ropes are over a robe/nightie at the wrists, there wouldn't be extensive bruising.)
My deep condolences to her loving family 💐
This is a strange one. I cant believe it took them 2 days to find her dead!
Maybe she put the do not disturb sign on the doorknob? Or maybe tge killer did to slow down the staff finding the body

You’re right! No one would do that at some random hotel while on a trip? Doesn’t make sense. This is sounding too fishy
Thanks for this update. Wish more was being done for this case, but I’m hoping we just are not being informed. 😢
I’m a Flight Attendant you always have a van time for shuttle. We stick together. They probably tried to contact her. However you never wait because of your late to the gate your job is at stake.
That’s usually the case but hotel was on site so no need for van and the checklist is diffent when staying at airport. You meet at gate.
Like if you get 180 pills, and the manufacturer packaging holds 180 pills, they'll just put the rx label on that sealed bottle and give it to you
Eta it's usually mail order, usually a 3 month supply.
That would explain why it was sealed…and maybe she had not broken the seal to take her meds…
Also could be something that came in a blister pack from the pharmacy. Some prescription meds come that way too.
@@no_peace good point I had not thought of that.
Of course there are individuals to call if a crew member never shows up or calls out.

I've worked at several Marriott hotels and they never had indoor video. I'm not saying this one didn't I just am saying the ones I worked at didn't and it was because of privacy concerns for hotel guests. Privacy outweighs surveillance for our guests.
I can't remember staying in any hotel with indoor video except cameras pointed at the front desk and outside the exits
But we can get crystal clear photos on roller coaster rides.

Dude, the room never shows signs of forced entry. That means absolutely nothing. Every murderer with half a brain will figure out how to do it
It bothers me so much. All you have to do is watch Ring surveillance videos to see how people get in.

Did her family not hear from her for two days as well?
This is heartbreaking and terrifying. Prayers for the family.
I sure hope there are hallway cameras…
Prayers for her family and loved ones.
Thanks for the information always John and crew. 🎉
Holy crap I'm the first one here just clocked into work and put Brainscratch on
Love this channel!!!
Crap is not holy. Only God Is Holy.
If you intend to take your own life it's because you're in pain. Surely if you had medication as a choice, you would do that instead!? A sock would be a last resort.
The medication she had was for high blood pressure and thyroid, for things like that. They make it sound so ominous.
If she had layovers of a few days, she might be carrying meds because of being away from her home town to make sure she has them. Unopened until she needs them.
It’s only 12 hour layover in that hotel
@@loganpochatko862thank you for sharing additional information. I am praying for justice.
Like everyone else, I don’t understand the sock. Thanks John for sharing this case.
It wasn't really a sock. It was a pillow case.
No one left anyone...meet at the airplane in a situation like this.
Theres a headline that grabbed me too
A 51-year-old Mexican woman who flew nearly 5,000 kilometres to Peru to meet her online lover in person was murdered, dismembered, and had her organs harvested, according to The Independent. Her mutilated body was discovered floating in the water on the Huacho beach on November 9 by a local fisherman.
This sounds absolutely horrific. I've never heard of this case until now 💔
On one hand, I appreciate John covering this case about this lovely lady who unfortunately died, and also gave to a fund for the family.
Crew members on layovers don't pay for their accommodations, that is between the airline and the hotel.
I have a hard time believing the hotel would not be checking the room closer to checkout time.
Most hotels I have stayed in/worked at don't have cameras near guest rooms for privacy.
I'm just gonna call it out. If she were a pretty, young (20's-30's) woman, they would've tried harder to find her.
That's true. But what would have been even more of a reason to find out where she was if the flight hadn't been overbooked with flight attendants. They had at least one over the minimum amount, apparently, so they didn't h-a-v-e to look for her or find a replacement for her. Kinda the perfect storm. Poor lady.
Not in this case unless all the other flight attendants were straight males.
Sounds like someone broke into her room.
RIP Diana. 💐
100%
At first I thought the deceased may have interrupted a robbery in progress,in her room. but then the lack of a struggle it may be unlikely. This. crime appears to be personal.
She did actually have some abrasions on her arms and face. Also, there are things that I can't tell you because perhaps no one has reported it because the police don't want it out. Diana did not commit suicide. She and Ray had been separated for years before he died. That's why she never contacted her former sister-in-law.
@@staceyirvin8247 Thank you for sharing this information.
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you SO much Trace-Elementz1343! We truly appreciate your support.
They know exactly what time she used her card to enter her room. They also have cameras in the hallways.
an old friend of mine told me a horrifying story about how she was slipped something in a drink and when she came to there was a guy trying to stuff a sock down her throat.
Very odd, all of it.
RIP Diana
Still, there's no reason in the world l would put a sock im my mouth. It's not like l'm having field surgery performed on me and l have only my sock to put between my teeth to bite on if it hurts.
Touch DNA needs done in the sock.
No mention of what she was wearing when they found her or said of evidence of s. assault? Is the sock not there to keep you quiet whilst such a horrific deed is being done and did she not put up a fight because they had a knife or a gun?
If someone else was involved, maybe there’s some form of DNA on the sock.
I’ve been wondering what ever happened to this lady, also same day same airline flight attendant was arrested with a gun trying to bring on flight
❤ Jon hello handsome man and thank you for sharing your video. I definitely will share on my Facebook page. Thank you Always Donna Barnes ❤
Even if they checked they may have only opened end the the door far enough to see her bags still tethers, and depending on where she was they may have seen her in bed.. they won’t go all the way in right away,..
How is this the only video about it?
I know right? I was thinking the same thing
she was my ex’s grandmother. super sweet lady
A plane can’t take off without all crew members it’s the law. So American had to know before take off because they have to have minimum crew on board. It’s a Federal law. They would have delayed that flight if they couldn’t get another FA quickly to work it.
They said that they met their minimum crew requirement without her. They still should've called for a welfare check though.
So, any updates? It has been a few months and I haven’t heard a thing.
Same here. Not sure why we haven't heard anything, but we are dealing with some big corporations here.
Good Morning, John
Morning!
I live in Philly and I've never heard of this story. How awful. On a side note, Go Birds
That was a different flight attendant.
Auto-erotic asphyxiation?
Statistically speaking, AEA is more commonly seen with men.
Technically flight attendants are cabin crew, not flight crew
was it her sock or someone else's? Can DNA be found on the sock too?
Foul play is absolutely *afoot.*
Who is missing _one_ sock?
