I love how the attacks all have these fun, cutesy names, then there's *RETURN OF THE KILLING MACHINE*
Roger must have committed unspeakable crimes using that motorcycle as a getaway vehicle

I like how Mr. Narrator is perfessionally explain Bridget, meanwhile Bridget on-screen is being Bridget, and Mr. Narrator is dropping fat lines like, "Hug da Rogger, Rock the baby" and "Kickstart my heart". Such an archaic combo...!
The announcer's calm voice makes "Return if the Killing Machine" and "Roger, covered in flames" hysterical.

@@koirone prolly just me not seeing it there but in +r it felt faster than it looks here. Like in +r it felt like ya shot off. Hafta try it myself to see
@@john-gh5yo My guess is that it looks faster in +r because the camera is just zoomed out further in that game. So going full screen moves you more character lengths in that game, but people generally moved faster in +r overall due to the different perspective.
I don't know who this Roger lad is but he seems like an absolute legend

When you talk through a walkie talkie, you say: "Roger that", right? So, it's the same dude.
Fairly faithful to the OG moveset actually. Only major change is that Bridget seems to actually have heavy normals now unlike in +R where the HS button is dedicated Yoyo moves. Excited to play later.
That will also stop him from flying way up to the top of the screen it seems, so his wacky runaway/stalling capabilities seemed reduced. But given the generally tighter feel of Strive that makes sense.

@@rampant1apart if they made her like that in this game, the only character who could consistently catch her would be characters like Chipp and Millia considering she was already really hard to catch with even average movement characters in +R, they made the right choice with only allowing her to throw her yo-yo towards her opponent
also no roger moves with yoyo set, which is understandable given strive. Im still excited to see they kept 3P, kickstart my heart (with brake and shoot) and the air movement options with rolling movement. I hope Bridget has 6K just so I get to be extra irritating :)

I mean look at his damage, it's really not that bad.
Not to be the "acktually guy" if you werent actually confused, but that's to say that he's a "balance" type character, as per their classifications on the character selection screen. So with the likes of Sol, Leo, Chipp, and Ky I believe. Ig just any character with a dp fits this classification.

Its actually pretty surprising in that so many of the other characters have changed pretty drastically from other versions, but Bridget has changed very little in appearance or play style. Bridget always one of my favorite XX characters to troll people with, not that I was very good at the character.

@@mmelo7832 I looked into a little more and it wasn't a localization thing. It's weird because in the bad ending on the arcade mode he apparently says he's a girl which is what he he fought against his entire life because he was forcibly raised as a girl by his parents. What's even weirder is that in the good ending he still states that he's a boy instead of succumbing to the gender norms his parents forced on him.
If this is the quality of character we get ill gladly enjoy season 2

Really? Completely botched his mobility when he was literally zooming all over the screen in +r, you only get 2 yoyo placements instead of 6(8 in air), and no lock on

@@goom- I did say "too much" considering strive. He at least gets to do the zoomies in a limited way and considering how everyone's movement got changed in this game he's gonna be annoying to deal with. I do wish they kept Roger setplay stuff but considering they could have done him dirty
I tried+ R for the first time a little while ago. Does Strive basically get rid of Bridget's og yoyo mix?
That actually looks like Bridget's playstyle, I'm impressed, quite a lot is different but the core ideas that define her are still there which is a lot more than what I can say for characters like Baiken and especially Testament, the biggest difference I can think is how she can only throw her yo-yo towards her opponent meaning no more throwing it in the air and running away which allowed for timer scam bullshit against characters like Pot, she just plays keep away with her normals now which is honestly a welcome change, I don't want to chase her in a game with Strive's movement, she looks fun tho and I'll be sure to give her a try
Curious because I only knew of guilty gear and never played it until Strive, how is Testament different now kit wise excluding the overarching mechanical difference between GG games?
@@reklom2334 if you look at some +r gameplay you'll be able to see difference once the match gets started but basically I wanna say that Testament had a great focus on traps and mixup seeing as how they had invisible tree traps, webs, off screen arbiters for left/right mix or blockstrings, homing crow setups and some other stuff. Its kinda messed up but cool to see.
@@reklom2334 Strive Testament and XX Testament literally don't share any moves. It's a completely new character in Strive, doesn't even look or sound the same either, I don't know why they used the name Testament tbh lol.

Bridget has the catchiest sounding move names. Kickstart my heart and Return of the Killing Machine are my favorite.
His attacks are based on yoyo tricks that are based on rock songs from the 80s.

The character description on the website does that too. They only use "her" one time and it's for Dizzy.

I refuse to believe these are the same people who worked on ramlethal's moveset.
The DBFZ problem all over again, where the base cast was made super simple to appeal to FG newcomers, but then as DLC kept coming out, they gradually increased the complexity of those characters, like with Roshi for example. I do feel bad for Xrd Ram fans tho, completely butchered moveset

It's because he doesn't hit that hard or have a whole lot of health. His moveset is comparable to Chipp's in terms of sheer options and shenanigans, if he becomes predictable he'll explode.
@@HandOfVecna1188 Yes, but this normals are 1/2 screen so idc if its correct to compare him to Chipp. It dosent matter if you got low health if you just disjoint (shoot) opponent at full screen.
His moves in the previous games were actually very complex with the whole locking the yoyo onto your opponent. The return of the killing machine was able to be used in any location where the yoyo is placed going into the direction of where Bridget is instead of the opponent

@@denisn8336 he's a bit complicated but he is cheap once you get a hold of what he can do.
XX he had a 1 frame mid range super that can be used as counter aerial attacks or jump ins as well.
He didnt had dp back then but you can cancel kick start my heart with either a low attack and a jump in overhead back then. He's basically a anti zoner zoner.

@@charmys2126 it has dp motion but it isnt really a dp. It was more like a keep away move or a blanka electric attack.
Though imo it was much cheaper than a regular dp since you can do it in the air and has tons of priority. You can use it to bait opponents when used in air it stops bridget. I really love doing that against potemkin players lol.
Killing machine stays in screen and can be activated behind the opponent.
Disaster was my favourite since its his cheapest move.

The yo-yo knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't.
By subtracting where it is by where it isn’t, it gains a difference or deviation.
Anji lost his +R moves, so Bridget could keep hers.
To be fair, the real meat of Bridget's +R moveset was the Roger setplay.

Probably the wrong thing to focus on here, but I love that Bridget retained her idle dance moves similar to what she did in the previous games. Familiar idle animation, and a total outfit glow-up overall. Glad to see she's back!

the thing is, bridget didn't appeared in X3rd, a game where bridget was also requested by players.
and bridget only appeared in XX, so players who never played XX are probably not going to be the ones to request bridget.
