Extremely hypocritical. If one follows the Bible, then one will see that both sexual lifestyles are condemned. GOD does not favor one sexual sin over the other as we do in the black community in general (not every black person does this, to be fair & accurate).

No they did not predict Lil Nas X. What they were hinting at was all the down low rappers that exist in the industry, and there are plenty. They never predicted that a gay rapper would be successful.

We seem to forget that the entire reason Aaron created the comic book was to satire the hypocrisy’s of racial culture in America using the current news events of that time… thus the TV show followed the same format.

I'm currently going thru the Boondocks library season by season. A brilliant show, the way Aaron is able to take the most ludicrous situations and just blow them up to the most unbelievable extreme consequences is amazing. His characters range across such a broad scape and go from completely relatable to inconceivable. This was a great report, interesting and entertaining, and Ms. Le'Joy is an excellent host in addition to being a breathtakingly lovely young woman.
That character represented way more dudes before him.

I am surprised that some people were surprised that sexist homophobic rappers were ofttimes gay themselves.
While it is accurate to say that black gays sought refuge in the black church, after all ,where else could they go. Like other blacks they were redlined together.
Having said that, the notion that homophobia in the black American community has its origins in the church is misguided. I can understand that the subject may be painful to some, embarrassing to others, but Africa has historically been culturally inhospitable to homosexuals, ( American blacks originated in Africa and people carry their cultural baggage with them).
Lastly, many white slave owners were gay and they used their black ‘property’ in the same manner as white heterosexuals used black and Native American chattel slaves, sexually. There are records to prove it. It is a hard topic to deal with for some. But the time to do so, is overdue.

Channels like this are usually just boring, repetitive, and stretched out way too long, and just show random irrelevant clips. But this channel ALWAYS provides incredibly well written essays, with relevant clips and loads of interesting facts I would have never knew. The only thing that remotely justifies the weeds that grow in the garden is no one is tending to the garden and then you have too many trampling under foot what could grow. What I mean is people don't seem to care enough about the conditions of other people. This literally helps set the atmosphere for weeds to grow and flourish over real flowers. I said real flowers because weeds bloom and spawn other weeds which in turn take over the garden. The only way to make sure this doesn't happen is to recognize and acknowledge that a foundation has already been laid for the possibility of flowers and then care enough about the possibilities that could come out of working the land in the way it was given naturally. This is what ultimately acknowledges what life has provided for life to live.

There is never the same conversation about sexuality in the Heavy Metal, Punk, Country or Boy band communities. Where New Kids on the Block has a gay member and so did Nysce. I understand it. I was almost sent to an abusive conversion camp in South America when I came out. Multiple kids died there from the abuse. I had to threaten to kill myself to get out of that shit. Now I’m out on my own living as a woman and I’ve never been happier. There’s a lot of homophobia in society in general and the hip hop community is no exception. It was weird growing up loving hip hop yet being hated by many of the artists I love. I think it’s awesome that more are coming out, but I get waiting until they’re more accepted. The pushing it on the kids shit is stupid. Young people are the main ones who don’t like homophobia lol. Being straight and cis will always be the norm. Pushing people not to be bigoted is totally different. I don’t want you pretending you’re gay. There’s no point. The whole thing is just be yourself and don’t shit on people for being themselves. I've been telling people it's religion forever. I'm not in the business in changing religious people minds. They don't have to accept your lifestyle. They just have to respect you as an individual.
What Slickback said was not homophobic. What he meant is that he does nothing for men in a blanket term. Which makes sense. Homophobia means you are afraid of homosexuals or homosexuality. I don't believe people are afraid of homosexuality. We all have a choice as to what we like or dislike agree or disagree. We as a society need to stop this terminology of saying someone is afraid of something simply because they don't agree with a thing. That nullifies the idea of everyone can choose what's right for them. One other thing is can we stop the phrase "my truth". The truth doesn't belong to anyone. I perfectly understand that everyone has their own unique experiences in life, but the truth is the opposite of a lie. I hear too often people use "my truth" as a way to talk about how they may view a thing or how they feel about a thing. The truth is impartial and doesn't take sides. Either something is true or not and that is not contingent upon how our experiences may go. As the saying goes "there are two sides too a story and then there is the truth". Basically just because you see things one way and someone sees it another and then the truth settles everything, because no matter how a person feels or thinks the truth doesn't care about opinion or how someone feels...... it's just the truth.

With that being said they also know that homosexuality is not for me and that is my choice as well as it their choice for however they choose to live. What you experience and what I experience are two different things, so I don't claim to diminish nor say someone's life experience isn't real for them. For example every human being needs oxygen to breathe and live is true. So what I am talking about is actual truth and the truth doesn't align itself with how a person may feel about their own experience. For example, I have listened to other people explain completely different views about witnessing the same event at the same time and have completely different takes over the same thing everyone witnessed..... So do we deal with "my truth" then or does the truth become the deciding factor in determining what actually happened. My point is what you experience is what you experience but that doesn't make it the truth because feelings are subjective. The truth is not subjective it is the truth regardless of how the individual thinks or feels.

You have a right to live the way you want and love who you want within reason. Your sexual preferences don't mean you aren't talented or skilled or destined for greatness. Therefore, sexual preferences are NOT the reasons people are talented, skilled or great. That's like saying "I can see. Notice me and make me number one on the charts"
Gotta love the irony, here, of the Game excusing his own homophobia by stating that his issue isn't with homosexuality but with gay artists who aren't honest enough with themselves to come out of the closet. Clearly his issue is with homosexuality itself. He's just fearful of the backlash he'd receive for admitting it, which would seem to me to not be so unlike those gay artists that he considers cowardly for not admitting who they truly are as well. Very convenient, especially considering one of those rumored gay artists is the man who basically gave the Game his career -- the west coast's very own Dr. Dre.
As for this being an "authenticity" issue, how many rappers pretend to be gangsters? I'm fine with people taking issue with Lil Nas X and his devil worshipping nonsense. It was clearly a publicity stunt designed to create backlash, outrage and ultimately attention. Can't say it's all that different from an artist who deliberately starts beef right before an album drop to increase sales, but it's still corny all the same. I have no issue with anyone calling that kind of stuff out. Hip-Hop should demand truth and authenticity, without question, but one thing that I think has to disappear entirely is the anti-gay sentiment that a lot of today's rappers (and rap fans) carry. Not only is it unacceptable but it's that same level of hyper-masculinity that's been used to justify misogyny and the physical/sexual abuse of women, extreme violence, self-destructive behavior, gang culture, murder, etc., in Hip-Hop for decades. I understand that some of that is glorified for the purposes of depicting the real lives and experiences of certain artists, but for many it isn't. For many it's simply an excuse to be wild and reckless, which always comes at a severe price.
And for the record, this is not my attempt to condemn rap music (or even most rappers) in the slightest. Hip-Hop culture has brought far more good to this world than bad and has been the only real artform to consistently address social and political iniquities in this country, promote justice and equality, and by name educate the masses on not only the civil rights leaders and political activists in history, from Malcolm X to Mumia Abu-Jamal to Fred Hampton, but also stand on the front-lines when it comes to the victims of police brutality and those murdered just for being black, from Trayvon Martin to Mike Brown, Ahmaud Arbery to George Floyd, etc., etc.
It's because Hip-Hop is so traditionally and historically progressive that it cannot (and should not) ever fall prey to the bigoted few who wish to corrupt it towards their own ends. On some level this does also apply to those like Lil Nas X who wish to corrupt it in other ways, not only with the satanic imagery but the over-sexualized and exploitational messaging in general. All that aside, though, people need to get over the fact that some people are attracted to members of their own sex. This is not newsworthy anymore and it's not something that society is going to reverse course on. There are gay men and women in every walk of life, including Hip-Hop, and like anyone else they should be judged simply on the quality of their work. Being gay is not something that requires approval, so if you're a person who has an issue with it then just know that it's your issue. That is all...
