Chris Cornell is one of the best singer on planet earth, if not the best. If you wanna dive into Chris Cornell, definitely check out Outshined by Soundgarden. It’s a must.
I think you were probably thinking of Savage Garden as the "soft rock" band whose name sounds similar to Soundgarden. 😅 I still love their song Truly Madly Deeply
After 2006 Chester began singing songs especially crawling in a higher pitch without the roughness as it wasn’t sustainable singing like that throughout. He was getting older and had to adapt.
Both of them .... we lost to much. It is still hard for me to listen to LK a lot because it still hurts. Theres a feeling of "you saved us all but then did this... how can we make it"
Some quick notes. Interesting reaction but this was shot on someone’s phone in the middle of a crowd so quality is not gonna be the best. Both their approaches to vocals are different. I strongly urge you guys to react to more of Chris Cornell’s work… I’d recommend Soundgarden Fell on Black Days. You say Chester puts the emotion into his vocals but so does Chris. He waited 3 years!! To record Fell on Black days so the mood and emotion was authentic. Most artists won’t do that. He also is very capable of harsher vocals. I can guarantee you have barely scratched the surface. I was raised with Chris and I’m still learning more about him and his vocals….. Also, just because someone is straining to produce their voice doesn’t mean they’re “trying harder” or better. Towards the end Chester did have issues with his vocal cords and had to change. Chris is classically trained in how to sing so he knew how to fully control his voice…. If you don’t properly care for your voice or sing wrong it can destroy your vocal cords. Hope this helps you guys venture down a special road learning about Chris. He’s meant a lot to me For 26 years.
Such an eerie feeling when Chris sings “against my will I stand beside my own reflection” and hugs Chester 😢🥺

Linkin Park - Iridescent (Live In Moscow 2011) and UNTIL IT'S GONE ( Live In Download Festival 2014) both are Beautiful Performance😊

If you haven't yet, watch Chester and Chris doing Hunger Strike together. Also watch Chester doing a cover of Rolling in the Deep
Like a Stone by Audioslave is a hit for a reason, good showcase of Chis' voice too.
Best friends doing what they loved together… they are both sorely missed.
Sad how both are gone; they are sorely missed. Only the good die young.

Very recently Mike Shinoda said this was the only song Chester struggled to sing at times because of the notes.
