- In this video I'll explore what one can do to identify and address fatphobic tendencies or behaviors, whether internal or external. You've acknowledged you might have these biases, so what's next?? I'll touch on some of the ways to move forward through this process; it might not happen tomorrow, but these are the first steps!

I wish that you had spoken a bit about internalized fatphobia. While I know what you said would still apply, there is a sense of "otherness" in that process that I don't feel. I've been working for the past 20 years to love myself, and I still get utterly blindsided by it all when I am triggered. But thanks for taking this topic seriously.
Absolutely, I've made quite a bit of content about that since and will definitely keep it in mind, because it's very much it's whole own massive topic!
@@SeaBreeze-w9999 I'm glad that works for you. It's made my life hellish and kept me about 75 pounds overweight for 25 odd years, so it kinda sucks ass for me.
@@ElizIndRhythm Why would it keep you overweight?
Mine is making me lose weight.
@@SeaBreeze-w9999 Because for years it made me hate myself so much that I didn't see the point of losing weight. I had gained it, therefore I was a loser and nothing would change it. It's only now when I've learned to love myself that I am losing weight. I'm already beautiful and wise, now if I lose weight I can be healthier and prevent my senior years from being dreadful.

It’s really basic I’m not gonna sit and say you are healthy at any size . I understand if you have a medical condition that makes you gain weight I get it ,but someone who is just lazy and now you are overweight or fat you can change it. Its about motivating yourself and making yourself better. I can’t sit here and support them. It truly is a mindset, I can’t change the way I think on this due to the impact working out has had on my life.
I understand where your coming from and this is just a RUclips comment (I don’t typically take RUclips comments seriously either lol) but genuinely with all due good vibes I would like to share another perspective: It may be true that someone lacks discipline in nutrition and exercise but that doesn’t mean they lack discipline in other areas of their life. Just like “Jocks” excel in sports but typically do not in academics, some fat people (like pretty much everyone else) probs just are naturally good at one thing and not another. As an FYI, I am a a big supporter of Body Neutrality, because I believe we should focus less on body shape and more about health. I’m not here to say that obesity isn’t typically unhealthy it can cause health issues, just like being underweight dose. However, just because someone is unhealthy dose not mean they are not beautiful. Some people have all kinds of chronic diseases and disabilities where they can never be healthy, but that dose not mean they are not allowed to feel attractive. While it is true that working out and eating right is important, we have to make sure our motivation is correct. If health is not our reason for doing so but rather fitting into the beauty standard is, once the beauty standard changes to something unhealthy we will just do that. What is considered attractive has been very different throughout time and place with one thing in common: whatever reflected a wealthy lifestyle. That’s why in ancient China being fat was attractive cause only rich people could eat that much. Now, McDonald’s is cheaper and personal trainers are a luxury. Basically, I used to believe exactly what you do, and I do not judge you whatsoever I just hope this maybe let you think about things a little differently ❤
@@anneautisms5136great comment. I’m struggling with internalized fatphobia and this help me out some of the shame I struggle with in context.
@@anneautisms5136I generally agree with you comment. Especially that overweight people should be allowed to feel attractive. Absolutely. But today it is almost frowned upon to say that you don’t personally find overweight people attractive. Just as hair or eye colour it’s a physical attribute that some might find attractive and some won’t. Of course you shouldn’t walk around telling people to their face that you don’t find them attractive and why, you should keep that to your self. But being overweight is unhealthy, and instead of normalising being overweight we should instead try to support and motivate overweight people to a healthier life. Some people have different disorders and diseases causing them to gain weight much easier. But you can still improve, it just takes more work and more discipline.
You're actually working with some out-of-date information about health and weight-- those kinds of assumptions are based on research finding CORRELATIONS between health outcomes and body size, and there's actually no evidence to support the idea that it CAUSES it! I highly recommend checking out the book Anti-Diet by Christy Harrison to see why statements like "being overweight is unhealthy" don't hold up against the research!
AGREED
I am fatphobic 😃
Except for my fat friends, they chill, and epic, and they deserve all my respect.
real asf lmao
I hope you're being sarcastic! If you believe MOST fat people are unworthy of respect, and that all your friends are just magically exceptions to this rule, you have a lot of work to do.
Step 1: Pat yourself on the back for having the correct perspective on fatties.
Step 2: Live to a ripe old age with a much higher quality of life.
👏👏👏👏
There is truly no correct perspective
Everyone should be aloud to have their own opinions and their own beliefs
@@localwobbledog4029 This is the mindset of cowards and fools. You're so afraid of being wrong you refuse to have any stance at all.
