      Yes it is. Got the tired front leafs. I have the front leveling shackles that need to go in but my jack and jack stands are for cars. So I’m just driving them around until my new shop is built and stocked. My street tires will be retired later in the year and some mud grips will go on. Envious of that rust free chassis. Mine came from Missouri so the salt has eaten the rockers and dog legs. Also future fixes.

    If you use Duralast gold upper ball joints you will have the clearance needed to not hit the axle with a 3 degree camber bushing. The golds are also 20% larger than spicer.

    I am doing this exact thing to my 99 f350, but my question is what shock to get so that it has the same amount of travel? So the old shock is too short now, how did you determine what new shock to get, thanks for your help.

    • @thejman99
      @thejman99 7 месяцев назад

      I would call Shock Surplus and talk to the folks over there. Find a shock you like (or let them recommend a make & model) and tell them what your truck is (be sure to mention 2wd) so they can view the compressed and uncompressed lengths. From there you and them can compare those factory lengths to aftermarket shock lengths to find one that will accommodate your increased ride height. I personally went with Bilstein 5100s and am actually starting this project today

      @@thejman99how the project go ?

    • @thejman99
      @thejman99 4 месяца назад +1

      @@issaccaballero3929 bad lol. Long story short-ish; after all the new parts were installed, the back of the steering knuckles that house the ball joints were making significant contact with the inner part of the C of the axle. I had to do WAY more grinding than I was comfortable with on the passenger side. Driver side didn’t need much at all. This is because it’s different with every side of every truck. The position of the holes that run through the top of the C of the axle have large tolerances. The one on the passenger side was pulled in almost 1/2 inch closer to the truck than the one on the drivers side. This is why my drivers side needed minimal grinding and the passenger side needed infinite grinding. This is also why some trucks need zero grinding on either side. My new ball joints were also super tight and would’ve caused memory steer due to the heavy camber correction angle needed using the camber sleeves. Some mechanics say the ball joints just need to “break in.” This is not true. They’re being subjected to higher stress, strain, and advanced wear. Once they prematurely wear a groove into the socket, then the memory steer goes away. Maybe non-OEM ball joints would’ve had more angle to pivot/rotate but my new Ford ones did not.
      I scrapped the project. Ended up just putting in the new ball joints, new Bilstein 4600s and some 1.5° angle camber sleeves to get the trunk to drive straighter. Drives great now but doesn’t have the level I originally wanted. Didn’t mean to write an essay but I think it’s good info for anyone looking at doing this
