  • I have been looking for either an AMI F or G 40 for well over 30 years and have been told there's no such machine ... or you'll never find one because they are so rare. I found the Holy Grail of 50's jukeboxes at an antique mall. The video is not the best quality because of a poor camera on my phone. A Better video will come, I promise. From what I've seen online there was less than 100 of these made and only 3 have been documented still around. I have #82. This jukebox was converted from 78rpm to 45rpm. It WILL be returned back to its original speed of 78rpm!

Nice F40. I believe they were built for backwater towns and for export where only 78 rpm records were still available. It's the same chassis as the 1948 AMI A, B, C & D40.
The model F came out in 1954 and 1955. That makes it the last 78 rpm jukebox in production.
    It's a beautiful machine!
FYI, I did see one in person about 30 years ago in the back of an antique store in Bellflower California. It was a mint green color and still set up for 78s. It looked complete but I don't think it worked. The guy told me it was brought up from Mexico.

Later 78 RPM records really did sound better then 45s...so no doubt this juke box put out some great sound when playing rock and roll 78 RPM records.

The AMI F and G had the same sound system in either 78 or 45, regardless of the number of selections. And it was an EXCELLENT sound system!

I did convert this jukebox back to 78rpm and it sounds fantastic. I posted a couple other videos of it playing 78's. I hope to have my other 78rpm jukebox up and running before years end (Wurlitzer 1015)

I SAW THIS TYPE OF JUKE BOX RECORD CHANGER IN NEW MARKET, CALCUTTA, INDIA BEFORE 1960 IN AN ICE CREAM PARLOUR NAMED *MAGNOLIA*. MY SISTER AND I USED TO VISIT NEW MARKET WITH OUR PARENTS OCCASSIONALLY .

I am sure AMI had 78 RPM mechs left over and just built enough jukes to get rid of them in a productive manner. Kinda like how RCA kept building round picture tube TVs long after rectangular had taken over...they needed to get rid of the round tubes.

This box plays 78rpm and 45rpm records. You can put them in together.

Neat.... Although I'm not a Jukebox collector, I did fix up one for myself... a 1961 Seeburg. I like Electro-Mechanical stuff.

That tone arm is original to that jukebox. I've seen those tone arms in AMI jukes starting with the model "C" from 1951.
