The vending/amusement co I worked for from 85-99 in NH had mid-1970s Rock-Ola "coffin" jukeboxes out behind the kitchen with the selector box in every booth at all the Papa Gino's restaurants in NH. Employees would stack bags of pizza dough flour on the coffins out back, always was a mess trying to first get it open then there was always flour inside. Outside of occasional coin jams the booth selector units were very reliable.
I watched my brother Donnie's video were he went to the state fair. I rely liked the duck slide, and the picture of him and you riding the tea cup ride a Disney land . LOL
At 48:30 I had an AHA moment. My Rockola 470 started playing at 331/3 and I couldn't figure out why. I replaced the 3 grommets and fixed the problem. Thanks Doc.
Wow! What great video! Well done sir and thank you so much for your detailed pointers and direction. I have been working on cars for well over 40 years,,,,,mechanically inclined but a totally different animal for sure!
If the bearings in the motor are dry, it will cause the motor to run slower. I hope no one has WD40's the mech... That stuff is EVIL. Was great to see a Jukebox again. It's been a while since we saw a Jukebox video
Great video, always amazed juke boxes, pinball machine, pac man machine, you can fix it all. Did you guys add the records or it come with them? Comet is running good. Thanks for filming see you on next video.
Your Comet video is coming up soon :) We added the records, we pick them up in big boxes a lot just so when we sell them they're full and people can swap out the ones they don't want to keep in there.
Great video, I learned a lot, I have a rock-ola 445 and I watched your video a year out two back where you service that model. Mine still works ok but I’m sure a service would help it along so I’ll be looking for a service manual and have a go at it thanks very much 👍😀
Great video! I have the same machine here, and had a nagging issue which looks fixed now. The problem was the read-out side not resetting the selector pin. It was intermittent - sometimes it would reset, sometimes I would see the arm attached to the solenoid 'twitch' like it got partial power. Most times I got nothing. After cleaning everything in that circuit path except micro #2, it still had those issues. Not expecting any good result, I sprayed contact cleaner on top of the micro switches... and it worked! The selector pins reset every time now. Somehow the contact cleaner made its way into the switch. My question to you is, can those micro switches be opened up and cleaned properly, or are the guts completely inaccessible? Still have to replace all the electrolytic caps in the thing, and get the needle to sit properly on the record. It will get done :)
Interesting, I haven't seen the home switch done like that before. On the 70s Rock-Ola machines I've worked on, it's not an external switch like that, it was a wiper trace on the readout disc, presumably a later modification to simplify the mech a bit. Still a common fault though, the wipers and contact traces get dirty, but an easy fix with some contact cleaner and a cloth.
Hi Ron I'm going to be the guy that asks if that 424 is available only because it's the same model that my parents had growing up and I can't think of a better Christmas/house warming gift for my brother
When you repeatedly renove the platter, you ate making no mention of the ball bearing that is in the platter well. The manual does not make any reference to this, but it is there.
I knew that guy was trying to scam me years ago. I had the exact model back in 2009 and mine was a little sluggish and wouldn't bring the record back and would get stuck. He told me it was $100 a hour and he would have to tear it all down and rebuild the whole thing. He said it would take about 6 hours to do the job as well. This quote was given over the phone too😂 without him even looking at the jukebox.😢 I just hung on to jer as long as I could and just was plugged in so it was always lit up for looks. Mine still looked fairly new also. Wish I would have never got rid of her now. I did keep over 200 records though.

We were having the time of our lives
i like how you go through the schematics, learned alot about reading them by how you describe them
I try to make it interesting!
Thanks Ron. Always great content 👌
Haven't you seen, that one blade at the A-B switches is broken? Maybe it still works, but take a look at it again. Best regards from Germany
I didn't notice it until I edited the video together
These electro-mechanical devices are fascinating.

Loved me a duke box back in the day. We used to try and pick the most obscure B side songs to play.
thanks for the content!
Thank you for watching Bill!

I oiled the hell out of that motor and it sped up a little bit :) Yeah WD40.... ''''''''shudddddderrrr*********
"And here's the oil on the rubber wheel......". Too funny, had me cracking up Ron. 👍
Thank you for your honesty. 🙂

I wish i had more room in my house. There's a Rock-Ola Super Sound 2 on auction near me. cool lookin machine!
That Super Sound 2 is a sweet one, one of their best jukeboxes. They're microprocessor based though so sometimes you have to repair the cpu
Hell of a job Great job Thank You

I do love all machinery from fairground rides to jukeboxes arcade games machines slot machines
I had one till couple years ago. Nice machines
Superb vid,
What is that replacement part number for the end of stroke that you used for the home snap switch?

It looks awesome. Nice rundown of the operation. Hey, it's December...are we getting new videos each day of December like last year?
You are! Merry Christmas!
@@LyonsArcade it's a Christmas miracle!
Woohoo!
Now this is interesting.
Thanks for watching Moto Dork!
I sourced a repair manual years ago for mine but lost it. It was on CD rom back then.
Do you have information on where to aquire one?

Looking for a schematic for a 2000x amp, any ideas on where to get one?

Could you toss in a ball bearing so I can pretend this is a pinball repair video? 😀
(Actually I llove these)
It has a pinball switch in it now
What a clever repair
Mine had same problem it was the relay switch
have a 52280-A rockola amp if you help me find the pc boards male and fenale connectors in the amp thank you any help from john

Do you ever sell any of the pinball/jukebox machines as is, that haven't been repair by you yet?
No we fix them first.
@@LyonsArcade If someone is looking for one to fix themselves would you be willing to sell one as is from your vast stock of 60 or so machines ?
