There is a reason Magnus plays "bad" openings. It's not just merely a trolling disrespect thing. People at the top levels of play have studied and played all the top openings to death to the point that the early game is almost an exercise in autopilot for them. By playing a bad opening you take people out of their comfort zone and area of expertise. A bad opening may be positionally weaker, but it results in novel board states more quickly and easily where memorisation cannot serve as a crutch.
And Gotham sacrificed... THE HAAAAIIIIIIR! Gaining a huge advantage by confusing his enemies who expected him to keep his amazing hair that was positioned so well right on top of his head. What a brilliancy! Stockfish doesn't like it, of course, but we know it knows nothing about chess.
The fact that Levy didn't just lose on the spot in most of these games considering some of his opponents were higher rated than him makes me wonder why this guy isn't a GM yet
@@Nick_J_t’s also probably a different mental state when playing for content vs playing for rating. This is “playing bad for fun” where as a normal game would be “if I play bad it matters a whole fucking lot”

@@Nick_J_ yes, but if you ask me he isn't a GM because his calculating capabilities are nowhere near Danya, and I may argue he is slightly worse at calculating than Eric Rosen who isn't good enough to be a GM. This is part of levy's evil plan to make us drop Elo because everyone high rated doesnt watch his videos so while he keeps us low rated, he gets revenue in return. Absolutely brilliant.
He isn't wrong though. Based off engine evaluation it is the worst first move for white, on the board against real players it would depend on your theory and your opponent's elo and prep
