I just spent a few weeks climbing through 500s in 3 minute blitz and reached 600s yesterday. You’d be surprised how many 500s can play like this. It’s just that they usually lose on time when they play accurately like that. Time control is the main issue for a lot of players in that rating pool.

It felt like a complete game with thought processes for each phase. Loved it. Idk, I watched this and chess steps, and they made me want either more Win at Chess or longer low-elo games. I like this concept and would love for it to be a series. It feels like a more theoretical guide, which I think would help people prepare and get a feel for different kinds of opponents.

Loving all the educational content lately! Maybe I'm crazy, but didn't you already start a series called "Chess Levels" or "Chess Steps" or something like that.

I actually like this more than “win at chess” cause it’s a bit quicker of a video, and the large jumps in elo allows me to see the principle ideas as they evolve while keeping my attention.

Before I just watched you for fun and kept going back and forth between 800 and 900
But when I took your advice seriously, I made it to 1300 and looking to learn some more stuff to get to 1600, making me the best chess player in my school.
    Thank you

As an 800, I usually play King's Gambit on white, and Modern Defense of a left fianchetto with an "expanded" fianchetto on the right. I used to start symmetrically with both fianchettos, but could only win on time because it's a tough position for the opponent to break after castling. But they do break it. Always. Adding the assertive flank allows for attack opportunities later.

I think if you do this again, you should do rapid games. 500s in blitz are better than 500s in rapid

I really hope this becomes a series. Fantastic teaching going on by Levy. Maybe 5 minute games or I think a lot will end up just losing on time, esp at the lower ratings. But this and the the win at chess series are my favorite thing on chess YT
