I. Pezzo i forma di sonatina: Andante non troppo; Allegro moderato
Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48, premiered in 1880, remains today one of the late Romantic era's most definitive compositions.
In his score, Tchaikovsky supposedly wrote, "The larger the string orchestra, the better will the composer's desires be fulfilled."
Serenade for Strings has 4 movements:
I. Pezzo i forma di sonatina: Andante non troppo; Allegro moderato; this was an homage to Mozart
II. Valse: Moderato; Tempo di valse
III. Élégie: Larghetto elegiaco
IV. Finale (Tema russo): Andante; Allegro con spirito

This is my favorite piece by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. His music has always inspired powerful emotion within my heart. When I hear this serenade for strings I feel joy, sadness, inspiration, and longing all at the same time.
This is what music was meant to be!
Tchaikovsky's favourite composer and inspiration was Mozart and I think we can all agree that Mozart would've been proud of Tchaikovsky and his amazing music.
Link below: Fabulous Tchaikovsky!

This is tchaikovsky single best, incredible! The guy was a genius, such a high level. Ballets, waltz, etc... Every work is special.
Breathtaking in its varied voicings, varied orchestral sections and octaves of the motif, which the motif itself alone is just amazing.
This piece is the perfect theme for Stefano. The evil within has done it again! Right from the beginning the melody of the strings grab the listeners' attention as if Stefano is saying: "attention, everyone". The minor chords of the main melody added alot of poignance to the theme.
Breaking my heart! It is so beautiful. I heard my son play it last night.
You are blessed to have a child who plays classical music, especially this.
If anyone doubts the presence of GENIUS in the human race, all they need do is listen to this piece of music. I fell in love with it immediately at age 21 while flying home on a jet, and the majesty of soaring through the clouds underscored the magestic nature of the Serenade. Thiryt eight years later, it still moves me beyond description. This is simply one of the most incredible movements in musical history--and the entire serenade is brilliant.. Bravo Tchaikovsky!
played this 5 times already today, can't get enough
So delicately moving...
One of those riffs/melodies/compostitions that grasp me right from the first time hearing their notes...
*Thnx, N. *
I remember being completely overwhelmed with sweet joy when I first listened to this.
The opening of this movement (the first 20 seconds or so) is to me one of the most intense and dramatic passages of all Romantic music. Hardly fits the term "serenade", but it's Tchaikovsky after all, he can't NOT be emotional in his music.
I've been searching for Yoshiki's drum solo background music,
now I find it.
This music literally saved my life. Pure beauty.
In my opinion, George Balanchine's choreography to this gorgeous piece is his crowning achievement. Both are brilliant examples of the masters at their best.
THIS VIDEO IS SEVERELY "ASPECT RATIO" CHALLENGED......
Tchaikovsky's pieces are always sweet. I love his compositions the most! And this one is soothing.
I first heard this as I was about to fall asleep the other night. I thought I was dreaming. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
So happy The Evil Within 2 shed some light on this masterpiece. New classical music fans will surely emerge thanks to The Evil Within 2.
Brilliant game and stellar life giving melancholy use of a timeless, beautiful classic motif.
Ok, this is the second song I've by Tchaikovsky, heard it first at 12 in a concert hall and I didn't know what it was called but it moved me to tears. Thank you so much for bringing this song back into my heart, 8 long years later :)
" My name is Stefano Valentini and art is in this music! "
The piece is so amazing, we're going to play it this year in orchestra. However, the continuously changing pictures in the background are very distracting and the color-twisted pictures seem unnecessary...
So why watch the video? XD
SnowFaust_MTS to listen to the music. Why else?
Why watch, when you can hear? I guess thats what he means
Tchaikovsky music is definitely more influential to me than any poetry I've ever read. I could listen to this for hours on end.
Happy birthday to my favorite composer! This song evokes so much emotion from me, it is truly my favorite song of his...
Certainly one of the most beautiful and remarkble pieces ever written!
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever made. I get goose bumps every time I listen to this.
I use to listen to Tchaikovsky in the car with my parents when i was little and still do to this day he had grown on me so very much
This is my absolute favorite piece to play. I am a high school bassist and the way that this piece is written challenges all parts and gives each section some thing interesting to play in stead of a constant droning d, or something like that. this a truly fantastic piece of music.
Listen to this one, its beautiful and intense:
Conducted by Barenboim/with Chicago Symphony!

this song is my alarm, ringtone, motivation and my life
gosh darnit! I always cry when listening to Tchaikovsky even if it's suppose to be happy! I'm just so taken and overwhelmed by the beauty of his work I suppose.
George Balanchine choreographed to this song and its simply stunning, the piece and the music. Breathtaking each time.
I've listened to Tchaikovsky for about 30 years, seen concerts, bought CDs, been to ballets, but I'd never heard this piece. I'm three minutes in -on my first listen- and I think it's amazing.
When you get that shot of a guy's brain being blown out his skull just right
Dear Tchaikovsky,
Thank you for making music that has withstood the test of time. Long enough for me to be able to love it so.
This is the perfect definition of beauty to me.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I adore Tchaikovski! I think he is the greatest composer of all time.
His music makes my guts tingle. Makes me want to cry, and causes such a lump in my throat to form, it makes me wanna barf!
Any music that can do that, IS FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!
Favorite song ever: 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' by Tchaikovski
=)
Playing in orchestra, it's such a beautiful piece to be playing with such talented musicians. :)
this is absolutely gorgeous, tchaikovsky was an absolute genius
These kind of masterpiece should never end :(
Anyone who hears this piece and doesn't immediately stop and just listen isn't human.
Welp.. I just found the relaxing song Stefano always plays in his gallery.. *relaxes almost immideately*
I think he left part of his life on each piece he composed: Sadness, happyness, joy, drama, anguish, etc....
That moment when you learn the name of a great piece of music because it was in a video game.
I'm Stefano Valentini and this is my art shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Lily. Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I've learned after 21 years - you never know WHAT is gonna come through that door.
I sometimes miss my uncle, he was such a great man.
Music for the soul... Tchaikovsky is intense and complete!
i love this......what a beautiful song with lots of harmony in the beginning
I was lucky to be born not far from where Chaykovsky was lived. I need do visit his hometown. Great music!
From the beginning till the end... and once again... just perfect and amazing!
I appreciate your scholarly asides. That's what makes an upload truly definitive.
Thank you so much for sharing. It brought tears streaming down my face.
still time... for one... last music! (bang)
I'm currently playing this in my school's orchestra, it is indeed very, very beautiful, with it's soothing timbre and melody :)

One of my favorite pieces of all time--and I've played it too. Very fun.
mister tchaikovsky, i thank you from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful experience!
That's his trademark, even his ballet music on its own has a world of emotion.
Absolutely beautiful! Words can't even begin to describe this
lifts me right up to Heaven every time!
i finally found this music!!!!! such a relief to hear this song too
I love this. It's beautiful, majestic, touching.
I have a few words - I just fell in love with Tchaikovsky!
I love this piece. It's so fun to play.
Tchaikovsky was such a great composer! Especially all of his waltz compositions. :)
The 1st couple of minutes(the slower part at the start)is some of the most romantic, emotional music I've ever heard.
The chords at the beginning give me the chills... Love this song!
I played the first movement last year at the St. Louis Heritage Festival. It was amazing to play, and so much fun!
I played this during a summer string institution camp thing this past summer....I was on the verge of tears after we played this for the last time at our concert because I just loved playing this so much with my orchestra. I hated knowing it was our last time:(
Oh how I wish Tchaikovsky would have written a pieced based on the first couple of seconds......That has got to be some of the most emotional music on this Earth...WOW! It almost brings me to tears....So tragic, but so beautiful
Brah I swear after Evil within 2, everyone here to talk about Stefano.......im sorry to say that anyone who enjoyed this before the game came out....it's now the theme song of a serial killer in a game XD
For us, it is. :) It's from each person's point of view.
Look at it this way: the game made it possible to make this artist known to many people ... thanks to another artist. ^^ x)

i believe that TCHAIKOVSKY, made contemporary music with classic instruments in "classic" times...superb!
Oh my, Tchaikovsky, how can you do this to me? It's not often that emotions travel the airwaves.
My school's senior strings class preformed it at our music night. It was spectacular, just as the original~ Proud to be a Canterbury kid
Thanks for really elevating the discussion there. Great Job.
I played this a few years ago in high school! love it : )

This sounds like something you'd hear in the sad/humbly triumphant part of a movie. Simply awesome
Very nice. Very beautiful.
