    I. Pezzo i forma di sonatina: Andante non troppo; Allegro moderato
Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48, premiered in 1880, remains today one of the late Romantic era's most definitive compositions.
In his score, Tchaikovsky supposedly wrote, "The larger the string orchestra, the better will the composer's desires be fulfilled."
Serenade for Strings has 4 movements:
    I. Pezzo i forma di sonatina: Andante non troppo; Allegro moderato; this was an homage to Mozart
II. Valse: Moderato; Tempo di valse
    III. Élégie: Larghetto elegiaco
IV. Finale (Tema russo): Andante; Allegro con spirito

This is my favorite piece by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. His music has always inspired powerful emotion within my heart. When I hear this serenade for strings I feel joy, sadness, inspiration, and longing all at the same time.
This is what music was meant to be!

Tchaikovsky's favourite composer and inspiration was Mozart and I think we can all agree that Mozart would've been proud of Tchaikovsky and his amazing music.

Breathtaking in its varied voicings, varied orchestral sections and octaves of the motif, which the motif itself alone is just amazing.

This piece is the perfect theme for Stefano. The evil within has done it again! Right from the beginning the melody of the strings grab the listeners' attention as if Stefano is saying: "attention, everyone". The minor chords of the main melody added alot of poignance to the theme.

If anyone doubts the presence of GENIUS in the human race, all they need do is listen to this piece of music. I fell in love with it immediately at age 21 while flying home on a jet, and the majesty of soaring through the clouds underscored the magestic nature of the Serenade. Thiryt eight years later, it still moves me beyond description. This is simply one of the most incredible movements in musical history--and the entire serenade is brilliant.. Bravo Tchaikovsky!

The opening of this movement (the first 20 seconds or so) is to me one of the most intense and dramatic passages of all Romantic music. Hardly fits the term "serenade", but it's Tchaikovsky after all, he can't NOT be emotional in his music.

This is my absolute favorite piece to play. I am a high school bassist and the way that this piece is written challenges all parts and gives each section some thing interesting to play in stead of a constant droning d, or something like that. this a truly fantastic piece of music.
