@@akashdhanwani6638 no don't worry, he was quite famous in his life. Got a period of crysis towards the 1790-91, but he was known and people loved his operas expecially, and piano concertos and his improvisations since he was an excellent pianist. Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Magic Flute were super famous and very successful even back then. Also, his hero and best friend, Haydn, told his father he was the greatest composer alive. Imagine your hero telling this about you. I think he knew his worth. Maybe he didn't expect his music would be still performed after 230 years from his death.
Legends say that even Mozart was scared of his death.... He tried his best to put his grief in Requim..... Thats why u will not find a single note which shows happiness in the whole Requim......
This is absolutely not true. It is filled with grief, yes, but not only grief. To say it is a Requiem only of grief would be to disregard what it exemplifies best: all of human emotion, happiness, sadness, anger, and grief. At 6:40, after an emotional upheaval in the music with the choir and orchestra at a full, deep, forte, the music suddenly pulls back, as if refraining from itself. It becomes quiter, gentler, more calm. However it stays in a minor key and never loses the underlying sense of ominous foreboding. Then, at roughly 6:56, the choir sings a major chord, while the orchestra stays minor, giving the sense that a sliver of happiness wants to break way from the grief. That one chord builds as the orchestra also modulates to a major key, until 7:01, in a moment of pure bliss, the choir takes up a phrase of irrepressible beauty in F Major, and now all the music is in a major key. The phrase floats above the rest of the sound, hovering there and gently falling back down, where a clarinet takes it over and in the tonic key mirrors the same phrase. It is a brief moment, no more than a few phrases, and yet it contrasts the entire Requiem on its own. In this one fraction of the music, one can imagine a person on their deathbed filled with grief, uncertainity, and fear of death as the music rises beforehand. But as that one phrase emerges above the music, they are overcome with peace and ease. They are at rest, content, peacful, calm. And then not moments later the music swells again, and overflows with grief, as the person passes on. One can only imagine that the dead are at peace as they die, and the grief overflowing from the end of the Requiem is merely a reflection of those left behind to mourn the dead. Perhaps Mozart wanted to show that there was part of death that was hopeful in that moment. There is certainly more grief in the Requiem than perhaps any other of Mozart's works, and yet at the same time, it is a sublime release of emotion that perfectly summarizes the entirety of human life and emotion. That was his genius at work.
The rise in Lacrimosa really embodies the feeling of breaking into tears. Your throat beginning to choke, the heaving, and then the sobbing of "Lacrimosa". This movement is the embodiment of emotion, in my opinion. Mozart's magnum opus, his masterpiece.
Mozart’s breathed all through this piece. The motifs were his. Süssmayr never wrote like this again in his life. !! This is still Mozart. It’s so “alive,” like all of his music.
okshabs I’m talking about the Requiem in that comment, answering the comment directly above me. Not the Jupiter. There’s no question that Mozart wrote the Jupiter in it’s entirety.. just the Requiem. I was just calling the Jupiter and le nozze di Figaro, each also a magnum opus.
Mozart was making many opera pieces for the royalty... The form answer/response is very popular in his pieces so it surely has been an inspiration for Queen

I have always listened to Mozart as an academic exercise, as an endorsement of ornate composition and out of an appreciation of the development of classical western music. But this was the first piece that actually got me to enjoy Mozart. This is the only piece of his, apart from Symphony 40 and Don Giovanni in which I think he truly achieved a mastery of both emotions and construction. It is very rare that a piece can both move someone and be brilliantly put together.
@@SD-hs2pk yeah when it has no end they add it or they are ignore that chapter completely. I can't give you any definitive information, but I'm guessing the last chapter was unfinished, and Mozart wanted to add more chapters too but can't make it. When a composition is unfinished, the editors complete it. This is not 'complete' version. Cause Mozart already finished these parts. But you can find 'The full' version and it's gonna say 'Completed'.
His music is basically perfection simply put it falls exactly where is should and would. the way he wrote music was a way of seeing the world through a sorts of enlightentment or reality of what it is, mathematically and emotionally.
Requiem of Mozart it is considered the best of the best Masterpiece of the entire classical music! It is really something from another planet! It is awesome!
Well, this opinion belongs to some "world maestros" not my one. In fact I also like very much Bach and in my opinion "the best is the entire composers universe". Thank you anyway for your comment.
+Max Ballard it's not very accepted nowadays to use "gay" and "faggot" as insults ( it's seen as homophobia) , so, it's probably a good idea to use other insults in order to avoid unnecessary discussions about what insult words you used.... There's still a loot of accepted ones like good old "idiot" or " asshole", tho (and some cool creative ones i don't quite remember) . As for an actual contribution on the actual discussion. .. i understand both liking ( or disliking) classical music ( or any other kind ), i just really don't get why people has to discuss who's better or who's worse ....
I feel bad for Mozart, we dont know where he was even buried, his family was so poor, they couldn’t get him his own grave, even coffin. So heartbreaking
Given his letters and how they reflect his faith life, he might not have minded that. It would seem that he was more focused on providing for his family than getting fame or fortune, despite the narrative others often use against him.
@Kyle Billie it's kind of weird to think about the fact that people who lived in the same era as Mozart couldn't listen to his pieces (because they were poor). But, we, decades later, can do it... 😳
His time was almost up, but he didn't forget what he was there to do. He kept moving forward, even if he died, even after his death, because he'd started that story. He didn't want to be forgotten, but rather he wanted to be in people's minds for the rest of their lives, or ten years at least. What a man he is.
I listened to this with my mom just now. All the way through it felt like a complete tour-de-force. It felt like I was somehow being kept in place almost like a sort of paralysis. When it was over I tried to talk, and say something about it in a casual way. But I just couldnt get it together, and just started crying. I don't even understand what happened. I cry sometimes at music, but not like this. It felt like I was being locked in place until the end, at which point everything poured out. I was very overwhelmed. What a crazy rollercoaster. I don't know anything about classical music, but this proves to me that Mozart is precisely the genius everybody says he is. Im still somewhat in shock. What a masterpiece.
@@garchomowner Watch JoJo's Bizzare Adventure specifically the fifth part Golden Wind. In it two characters gain a Requiem, which is an upgrade to their ability called a Stand. One is called Chariot Requiem, which is supposed to be a direct reference to this piece by Mozart and there is alot of symbolism behind the name itself. Give it a watch it's a great show.
Starting at 5:00 is utter perfection. The slow rise of the chorus gets me every time, as it gets louder and louder. Its my favorite part of this whole piece. Audible beauty.
I'm playing this song for marching band this coming year!! Our theme is "Unmasked" and it's gonna be SO COOL!!! We're playing this as an opener, 'Some Enchanted Evening' for the ballad, and the closer is still being written. I don't play at 1:58, but the baritones, euphoniums, and tubas (we use sousaphones) play the lower part, and the high woodwinds (flute, clarinet, sax I think, and piccolo) play the higher part. Our show this year, as we hope, will get us into Bands of America (BOA), and hopefully win!! I have no doubt that this year will be another undefeated! Last year we didn't lose a single competition, and the show wasn't NEARLY as badass as this one. We don't have dot charts yet (I'll explain my vocabulary at the very end) for anything but the opener, and that's pretty hard ngl. It's gonna be so cool though. Ballad: The slow part of a marching band/drum corps show, most of the time it's based on an actual song. Drum corps: A professional marching band for people in their mid/late teens and very early twenties. The oldest you can be for a drum corps is twenty-one. These marching bands don't have woodwinds. Only battery, front ensemble, and brass. Bands of America: A competition in which top-tier high school bands compete from all over America. Dot chart: A grid-like piece of paper (we use an app for it, it's called UBDpro. It works wonders) that represents a football field. Dot charts tell marchers where to go on the field. Battery: Marching percussion. Includes snares, bass drums, and tenor (quad) drums. Front ensemble: Also known as 'The Pit'. It's the percussion that you see in the very front of the field. Includes (but is not limited to) percussion like xylophones, vibraphones, timpanis (sometimes), and glockenspiels.

Along with the Jupiter Symphony and Le nozze di Figaro , etc.
Except he only wrote the first eight bars
Mozart’s breathed all through this piece. The motifs were his. Süssmayr never wrote like this again in his life. !! This is still Mozart. It’s so “alive,” like all of his music.
@@beckylink Which movement from the jupiter symphony are you talking about?
okshabs I’m talking about the Requiem in that comment, answering the comment directly above me. Not the Jupiter. There’s no question that Mozart wrote the Jupiter in it’s entirety.. just the Requiem. I was just calling the Jupiter and le nozze di Figaro, each also a magnum opus.

I once heard "Don Giovanni is the pinnacle of Western Civilization".
This was the last music Mozart ever wrote. He died middle of writing this. He never finished it.
Why does it sound finished. Did someone add to it?
@@SD-hs2pk yeah when it has no end they add it or they are ignore that chapter completely. I can't give you any definitive information, but I'm guessing the last chapter was unfinished, and Mozart wanted to add more chapters too but can't make it. i just listened to this for the first time and i am entranced.
Mozart was middle class, but at that time only nobility got individual burials.
@Kyle Billie it's kind of weird to think about the fact that people who lived in the same era as Mozart couldn't listen to his pieces (because they were poor). But, we, decades later, can do it... 😳

This song is truly golden, like a strong breeze of wind.
This golden musical experience is like the final stairway to heaven. A truly bizarre adventure.
So this is requiem
