I always square my sill plates before building the floor and I make sure the dimensions match the plans so the walls match the trusses it can be timely and sometimes you have to hang plates off the foundation a little or in a little but then the floor is perfect
That’s how we do it but for some reason we end up doing the same exact thing as when we check the foundation for square. 6,8,10. Then we check diagonals then check for parallel. We do that process at least 1000000 times because the boss doesn’t trust himself or anyone else else for that matter
How would u use 3-4-5 when ur dealing with such big measurements? Wouldn’t u go up to a higher more divisible number of Pythagorean theorem like 20,21,29?
It's not even the best method to use. Just use the Pythagorean theorem to establish exactly what your hypotenuse length is per the exact wall length measurements. That way, there is no projecting like when using the 3, 4, 5 method. To do this quickly, use a trigonometry app.

When you are laying out the exterior walls do you run the bottom wall plate so it is flush with the exterior of the rim joist or do you compensate for squaring things up?
If I'm running it through I always mark 5.5 for the 2x6 first then toe to the chalk line...I've seen guys who just nail it flush with the outside of the rim and that is undebatably wrong
@@framingbeast720 Yeah but if u watch the video. You didn't start on a square floor. Not sure if you built that or not. Seemed weird to me you would used the gable for square also. Wouldn't it be better for the truss walls to be parallel and tweak your gable walls if you have to?
@@huejanus5505 ya its through the roof at the moment. I know some builders buy there material years ahead to avoid inflation and insane prices. It hurts
The building should already be square at that point… It should have been squared up at the foundation plates before the joist and deck… And for the building to be out over an inch in what looks to be about 50’ on The joist and deck can be somewhat of a problem… If you hold the wall in on one side and hang it over on the other you will create problems with the siding… If you just go with it you will have problems with the trusses… Again it should’ve been squared at the foundation plates before the joist and deck
A few things to note: 1)no siding, only brick which increases tolerances. 2) why would I waste time squaring the foundation when I'm going to square what's more important above it, the walls. I chalk the foundation middle wall between the units to maintain my 1 1/2 drywall space and away to the races. 3) if the walls of out or in more than 1/2 I make the adjustments sometime splitting the difference.

When I stick frame we always nailed everything in at first and then added the hangers afterwards. Is that a waste of time and your thoughts?
And I understand the production value
Nope that's what I do especially with pt a wet board can be bigger then one on top of the stack so we nail them then hanger
