No idea how I’m subbed here or why this is in the my feed - but I’m happy for it. I’m going through the channel and I can’t believe this just popped up in my sub feed. I’m withdrawing right, sweating and trembling and aching. I’m friggin miserable and I can’t handle thought provoking anything right now. But I’m so coming back. Crazy how this stuff happens.
I'd like to add a couple more drivers to the fear of boredom, especially later in life, the perception of the increasing speed of the passage of time, and the increasing time allotted for work. Now, in mid-life, a day has the feeling of passing (overall) in mere hours, and with work consuming most of our life during the week, and the preparation for work consuming a portion of the weekend (or time during the week after work), being bored now leads to a fear of not being able to make the most out of our free time, leading to a blinding realization of the pointlessness of working our lives away. If we're simply bored during our time "off", and we dislike our time spent working, what is the point of existence? So alleviating that boredom in any way, even the most superficial way, allows us to disregard that thought. Though if we had slightly longer to be bored, we might be compelled to pursue some interest, but instead, the day ends quickly, and we have to prepare to go to work, again.

Ah dear, you can share your thoughts if you want.
The secret is to never run out, long legs have softer landings! 😏
The art of boredom is something that may not be wanted but definitely needed. Tolstoy said it best: "Boredom: the desire for desires."
Amazing video!

Just in time. Now I can finally shift my own focus onto something else.
Never thought I'd see a youtube video casually referencing my favorite philosopher, Kierkegaard. He's just so amusingly depressing.
I was actually just looking for your channel but forgot what the name was then this got recommended to me
Thanks man
"ennui" is pronounced "on wee" 👍
Schopenhauer sounds like a real bummer of a dude.
Boredom is the trophy for success in life.
Nice :D
