I think Bill Maher was temporarily disowned for a reasonable remark he made shortly after 9/11. He quickly learned on which side his bread is most thickly buttered, and fell in line.
By the end it seemed like Maher was implying he was playing the foil to Burr - that their back-and-forth disagreements would make for good local radio. sheesh

Maher is in a tricky situation. He desperately wants the affirmation of other comedians, but it seems that the only ones likely to give him any kind of respect are the ones who are real low tier ghouls that even Maher looks down on.
I can imagine a future episode where he has Steven Crowder on, starts like he's just trodden in a really soft dog turd, but finishes by announcing 'hey Steven, I had you all wrong - you're a really nice guy and you get it'.
