    I joined at age 45, and went through on Course 39/10. It all looks very familiar even after 14 years.... Anyone planning on doing this: 2 things to do. Get as fit as you can beforehand, and just do as you're told when you're on the course....the DI's know what they're doing.
    I ended up doing 8 years, 2 of which were mobilised - best 2 working years of my life. Got to do Red Flag 16/1 as well....!

    As an Army reservist, the accommodation you get in the RAF looks so posh. The facilities look amazing. We don’t get that luxury 😂

    I’ve recently applied to the RAF! I’m really excited! My main concern tho is me being a christian and managing this, but i have a few questions regarding training, and i’d love to hear some answers 🙂;
    what has been the hardest part of training for you so far?
    what have you enjoyed the most?
    what are the other recruits/personnel like?
    Hope everything goes well for you during your time, God bless ❤️

      I'm on the same lines as you in regards to being Christian, there are many churches on bases or local to it. In terms of living by the Christian code I do (to the best of my ability), I have my bible, I pray and yes there are times where I slip but I still hold my values true to my heart. The hardest challenges I face around me is most people (that I have interacted with) are atheist so it can be tempting to follow on and sometimes I can but when it comes to getting absolutely smashed (for example) I don't, I go for one or two and that's it (that's why I'm on sharkwatch 90% of the time 😄) . Also keep in mind during basic training you can go to church on Sunday's which I did unless I was away that Sunday.
      I'll answer the questions above from my perspective:
      1. The hardest part for me (during phase 1) was adjusting to military life. Pretty basic answer and probably doesn't bring a surprise but it's that everyone changes differently and no one changes the same if that makes sense.
      2. What I enjoyed (combining my entire career so far) is having a sense of meaning. Similar to my faith, I wanted to be apart of something bigger than me, where I can carry my cross as best as I can while simultaneously, growing as a person. The others is the social side is really good, its nice to be around people who have more in common than working pay check to pay check, everyone has their own reason for being there and it tends to be more important than the pound sign.
      3. In phase 1 the recruiters are supposed to be hard hitting (not literally of course) with their stance and verbal instructions to get you from civilian to military. They will make it hard for you to relax and will fill the day with stresses and pressure to weed out the ones who don't want to be there (luckily, the love to my faith and family kept me going the whole way). Phase 2 onwards everything changes its like a normal job, really relaxed and very enjoyable so it's well worth the 10-weeks at Halton.
      Overall, if you have the meaning and dedication to go in and serve you will succeed and there's tons of opportunity if you are willing to take it, nothing comes to you in the RAF you need to go out there and get it. God Bless and I hope you find clarity in what you want to do in your future 🙏

      @@JakeGchannel Thank you so much for your response! it was honestly relieving hearing experience from another fellow believer, and an honest one too 🙏 if it wasn’t for knowing how hard it is to keep my faith in the RAF, then I would have no doubts. The end times are approaching too fast to afford losing faith. But I believe God can get me through it, I’ll see what happens through my application and see what God says. I’ve been set on the RAF for a while now, and it’s been a huge goal of mine. I hope I get through ❤️ Thank you so so much again for your detailed response, I hope you enjoy the journey 😊 Maybe see you around one day!

      So I have been through Halton. You usually get weekends off but have to stay on camp, however a lot of us to get out of base attended RAF Halton church which holds a service every Sunday with an officer padre. Hope this helps!

    • @RideWithMe14
      @RideWithMe14 2 месяца назад

      @@Alfie-jr6pc Thank you for answering! I’ve heard about there being a few churches, however, I believe it may still be found difficult to keep a close relationship with God as I’d be around non-believers more often than not. I’m going to speak to a pastor and hopefully a service member face to face soon to discuss options and see what happens :) What is the church like? are they traditional churches or the more lively ones?

    • @Alfie-jr6pc
      @Alfie-jr6pc 2 месяца назад +1

      @@RideWithMe14 it is a more traditional church. The padre really does good with it. You do your service and have your wine and bread offerings. Once the service is over they hold tea or coffee or juice and some biscuits and cake. It’s your ordinary service to be honest. I had one guy on my basic training that was a massive religious person and he didn’t feel affected at all! I hope this helps.
