I love the artist who is painting in memory or his wife it must be hard to lose someone you love and has something in common.
I started painting portraits a couple of years ago. I’m addicted and this show always inspires me.
I am terrified of trying my hand at portraits. I've only, at the age of 66, begun painting. Like you, I am inspired by this program.
Jodie is so beautiful.
Thanks for continuing posting these episodes.
Jodie Gorgeous Comer ❤️
All three should have been sent to the semifinal because they were all so good! I can see why the judges had a hard time choosing.
Daniel was really difficult to draw, I think. But the result of Tom is great - I love it. I also liked the result of the woman, who drew Daniel and the painting of the second winner, who drew Jodie. I agree to the jury!
Thank you for your upload; I love this series so much 🥰
I was so excited to see Jodie Comer as a sitter - then was equally as disappointed in all 3 portraits of her - mainly because none of them captured the delicacy of her features.
One day i will be among the contestants
I hope so!! What a challenge! I wish you all the luck in getting there!
@@jackiec859 thank you
Like… just walking around betwixt them?
I’m so excited to see this program! I’ve been hoping someone would post the series! Thank you!
Love this show ❤
*Painter Martin certainly doesn't have a good poker face. His distain of his sitter is cringe worthy.*
I'm a watercolor portrait painter. I would love to be given Daniel as my subject. Not going to lie, I'd be scared of the challenge. But, the opportunity to create an "over the top" portrait, not seen before on this show, would be exhilarating.
Google Daniel Lismore, what an interesting person, many sided. Book titled " Be Yourself, Everyone Else Is Taken " GREAT title !!!! So don't aspire to copy someone else's persona create yourself
I love the way the hairdresser of Joan Bakewell made her so lovely and her conversation with the jury alongside this video. From Holland with ❤
Thank you! Yesterday I reached the prior episode, I was so sad when I couldn't find this one 😅
Colin’s portrait was by far the best!
Merci its captivating to see these amazing artists
Jodie is so beautiful ❤️
Really inspiring!
We have no idea what Martin was actually thinking… maybe he was just overwhelmed by the textures and fabrics of Daniel’s regalia. For all we know he could have anxiety… if he was being rude, there was no excuse… but frankly we just don’t know…
All I see is Villanelle 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Wish you would do more of Location, Location, Location.
The artist, Martin Ireland wearing the purple shirt, certainly made no attempt to hide his displeasure and dare I say, tinge of disapproval, at his sitter, Daniel. He later said, “What am I looking at?” Not TOO offensive! I noted that HIS self-portrait looks like a young handsome man; he is objectively, a middle-aged bald man. Needless to say, he thinks highly of himself and considerably less so of Daniel.
First time I’ve ever seen an artist on the show behave so poorly. If he has issues with Daniel, a who, not what, then he should have demonstrated some restraint and kept it to himself.
I certainly would not want this man looking at me for four hours. He has too much arrogance for his meager skills.
True I thought his "portrait" was a bit too flattering. 🤣 I do however think the sitter is a bit over the top.
I like how the film editors really showed Daniel's awfulness by repeatedly cutting to his very rude look.
@@whirledpeas5717 I have no doubt that Daniel saw it too. How very rude. He didn't deserve that.
I didn’t get the sitter with all the regalia ,does he dress like that all the time?
Gosh! Picking two and leaving one out?
Ty😊
I think if you take a photo that's fine. It's the way of the world. The judges haven't said no so obviously they aren't too worried. But seems like those who do aren't always picked. It'd be interesting to see what percentage of those who use technology win
@katella - I totally agree with you! I confused the names. It's the painter that i liked the editors showing how rude he was to the sitter.
If I were Daniel, I would have chosen the picture he chose, but I wouldn’t have left without telling Tom you were taking that one too.
I love Duncan’s paintings.
wth? Colin would be my winner and he was not even shortlisted :-(
❤
23:37 what's that brush? The tip looks like a pen.
Martin was not happy with the sitter!
I'm just astonished at how rude Martin was towards his sitter Daniel. It was embarrassing that no one pulled him up on it. And as a professional artist, his painting should've been much better, but it looks like he cut his nose off to spite his face by painting something so bad. I think Colin should have been in the top 3. But I loved Duncan's, although no one really got Jodie's delicate features. I don't agree with picking 2 winners either as it would be so much worse for the one that was not picked.
I'm starting to dislike the general 'lens 'n screen' effects most artist who use photo's or iPads tend to have.
If I were a sitter, I'd like to ask beforehand: do you paint from life or photo? Those from photo get 5 min's each for a photo. Then I'll just connect IRL with the artists who actually look at me for 4 hours.
Another idea would be: photographer of the year / media artist of the year and keep paint quite strict
Just an FYI. I'm an elderly watercolor painter. I can not see clearly at a >3 foot distance without glasses. Everything is blurry < 1 foot wearing my glasses. My up close vision is still perfect. This makes for a nightmare when I try to paint in detail at a distance. Glasses on, glasses off, repeat, repeat. Monovision contact lenses ruined my vision. I need my subject close to me, in person or a photo.
I don’t get the trench. Put it on
The PRIZE here is the stunning portrait of Nick by Olga from Moldova 🇲🇩.
The style, the blazing blue eyes, that matted look, so alive and beautiful. Nick never looked handsomer.!!!!
I don’t like any of the Jodie portraits. None of them remotely resemble her.
I almost never prefer the paintings the judges choose. I find the judges a little perverse and not capable enough
Daniel came there as an complete piece of art already. Not much to interpret for the artists themselves.
🤦🏽
Hope Martin never gets a commission again.
If I were a producer of the show I would have kicked him out the second he started to put those faces...
Why was the purple shirt guy even included?
Horrible rendition of a sitter he clearly despises.
Colin, Emily and Toby are all infinitely more talented than Duncan. To choose Duncan as a semi-finalist over Colin or Emily was a poor decision, but to put Duncan through instead of Toby is really insulting - unless you appreciate grotesque images, something I don't.
Portrait “artist”?! These people have no idea how to paint. Have they ever been to a museum? The so called portraits of Jodie are horrific.
Maybe not horrific just never captured her delicate beauty
I felt immediately sorry for the 3 who had to paint a pile of make up in carneval fabrics. Pretty unjust to have two good sitters with character faces and ... that.
Your comment is beyond rude. "That" is human being. Just because they've got a different, more colorful way of being in the world doesn't mean they can be mocked or degraded. You should have shame using that kind of language for a human being just cause they're different from you. I would love to paint a portrait of someone like Daniel-- reminds me of the over-the-top wardrobe of royals in old paintings.
I really like extravaganza..In another Context, it's lots of Fun! But Why show up to a Portrait Session when you obviously not interested in showing your face and who you are? This is a statement of insecurity or even self overrated ego to me, if nothing else. Very Sad. Could have been great, but instead it's just a Doll with a lot of Makeup.😑
I think that IS who he is. Why should he pretend to be someone else?
So disgusting.
