I'll never forget the first time I experienced this album. Sometimes things come into your life at the perfect moment and it can be profound
Defo mate - me too!
So true...I listen to this album religiously, and at least once a year, schedule an almost meditative sit down for a day or two with it to "reset to zero", as it may...
This reminded me how great and underrated NO CODE is.
it's a cracking album for sure :-)
Thank you man. I am loving your Pearl Jam videos. Great work. Thanks for your time and efforts in making these videos.
Babylonkid you’re welcome mate glad you’re enjoying them!
Thank you so much for your videos, especially this series! Dream channel for PJ fans.
You're welcome Michal :-)
Love the added commentary and side notes. One of my favourite riffs is from Jeff on his bass in the Present Tense outro. So groovy.
Thanks Brian and yes!! That is pretty much a bass solo mate!! Love the end of Present Tense, we play that in Pearl Jamm and it's amazing to play live. Awesome track
Love No Code. There's such a great vibe throughout the album, and it always puts me in a good mood. The first time I saw them live was while they were touring that record, so there's that too :)
Awesome work - keep it up!
Awesome, thanks man! Yea such a great album :-)
I remember seeing them for the first time during this tour, and trying to race to my seat as the opening notes of "Sometimes" began their set while I went to get some beers for my sister and I. I was in tears fearing I was going to miss the first song! Such a transcendental album and experience!
Awesome man I’ve been waiting for this. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Wow brilliant, thank you man. Learnt a huge amount in a short time, some of its a lot simpler than I imagined. Always loved this album and it's tribal earthy feel, came out and inspired at a pivotal time. Cheers dude, love your work.
Welcome mate!
My favorite album of all time! Thank u man
you're welcome :-)
Awesome Matt nice one! Your channel is so good.
Cheers Chris you're welcome mate!
My favorite album, I feel like they've left the comfort zone on it, and it's worth it.
Some classic tracks on this one
Wonderful analysis! I've always had thing for "Mankind", in fact I'll give a listen after I finish this video haha
Haha nice! thanks man!
Present Tence is up there with my favs from tge band. Was SO PSYKED to hear it live in QC sept1 2022
This video is the one of the most most most... about Pearl Jam.
A beer, me, my guitar and this video is the real heaven.
Ah thanks Emrah, glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve always loved No Code. Was so different to what had come before it. Hail Hail is a belter as is Lukin. Eddies writing on this album is phenomenal.
Sometimes and Hail Hail were always the first that really spoke to me. Amazing lyrics, i still find stuff on it now that i haven't noticed properly :-)
No Code is my favorite, got it on heavy rotation lately. In My Tree is amazing in how it progresses slowly, builds up and blows up.
Don't know if anyone from the band has said it but "Smile" sounds like a respectful nod to Neil Young, the track could have come straight off of Harvest Moon, lol. I know they and Neil Young go way back.
Off He Goes - first time I heard the intro I thought it was "And I Love Her", Beatles. Compare them and see. When that song's sort of got you down, they expertly follow with "Habit" which bitch-slaps you right back up, lololol.
Best album.
@Black Coffee Now I don't listen to NY that much, so I'll take your word for it :)
That's what I love about this album; it doesn't let you feel too much on the sad, negative side of everything (but does allow you to experience JUST ENOUGH of it) before the next transcendental song comes along and gently places you on another track of deep thought and onto another plane of existence! In a way, it's kinda like "Zoso" by the mighty Zep!
I 'm loving the series! Binged the first four😊
When is my lovely Yield dropping!!?😇
thanks Tasos! haha don't worry i haven't forgotten these, just have a load of lessons to get through but Yield is very much on my list :-)
Thanks for this and the other videos I've seen. For anyone that might be following the tab for Hail Hail and wondering why it doesn't sound right, you might want to drop the last chord by 2 frets. Threw me out, I was questioning by ability to count frets!
Thanks mate, oops haha! Thanks for pointing it out, shame RUclips has no way to add corrections to videos 😀🤘
@@LetsPlayAll Yeah, realised that it would mean a lot of work to rectify that 1 mistake. Just wanted to help those that might not be as far along their guitar journey that love that riff as much as I do. I do love their more rowdy moments! 😉
@@Fractaphonic haha me too! Much appreciated mate 😊🤘
I'm so glad you exist in this world. lol
Rose p haha ahh thanks Rose 😊🤘
Best album
I was at Moline to see this album played in it’s entirety!
awesome!
Was afraid you gave up on this! Cheers!
Hell no :-) These are time consuming to write, record, edit etc and are tricky to do alongside the regular weekly lesson content but i'm aiming to do one for each album!
Hey brother, great job. This channel is gold for me. I noodle around and am always looking to learn a new riff (usually pearl jam). Do you have full tabs available anywhere?
Thanks Michael glad you like the channel! TABs are available over at my Patreon channel if you want to support the cause :-) patreon.com/letsplayall
Chorus riff in present tense is one of my favorites. Super dark and heavy. And you didn't even mention the outro?
Yea i could've included all the riffs tbh! I think live it's a very different beast. All great riffs!
Apparently Stone's Devo inspired orange outfit distracted even him. Check out his major shank starting just before minute 3 of their Letterman performance.
Hahaha :-)
Muito bom!
I love the song "Mankind" because its totally at my level of song writing and guitar playing lol.
Denny Sensation haha nothing wrong with that 🤘😀
I've always compared this album to Led Zeppelins "ZOSO" album; they were the respective bands 4th album, and both giant departures from their previous recordings. Not to mention were the first albums they both were able to "stretch their legs" a little (plus were jumping off points for fans who weren't ready for new horizons) NO CODE WILL ALWAYS BE MY NUMBER ONE FAVORITE ALBUM EVER! Much like Zoso is my fav Zep album
So this is what Louis CK is doing now.
Finally. I thought I was the only one wondering "What's with the accent, CK?"
Fantastic work, would you ever consider playing a full album with all the guitar parts doubled up together, I only ask as I'd love to drum along to them, especially Vitalogy and No Code, only Pearl Jam Drumless tracks are usually for Ten, not the more raw Pearl Jam era?
Thanks James, no plans to record one video run through of an entire album tbh but I will be doing more covers soon :-)
@@LetsPlayAll Excellent could I suggest a cover of "You Are" some really nice guitar effects a licks
@@tazztao haha possibly ;-) instagram.com/p/BxzNOQ6nKY3/?
Hi mate. How do you get that tone on mikes sometimes part?
Hey Daniel, nothing special tbh, i'm using the middle pickup selector, so it has that woody tone, a teeny bit of overdrive and some reverb. The rest is just a light touch with the fingers!
Thank you 🙌🏻
Matt, what did you use for the phaser effect on Present Tense?
Hey Martin, back then i probably used an MXR Phase 90 or the similar thing on my Line6 MM4
Why does your shirt have 2 "m"s?
I play in a UK based tribute called Pearl Jamm - see here facebook.com/pearljammband/
Riot act?
At some point!
@@LetsPlayAll my favorite
And you are its a beatiful riff
