If you mean it, have a Look at Project Management. There is the PMBOK (Project Management book of knowledge) published by the Project Management Institute that ist a great atarting Point. At First it defines 10 knowledge areas that structure Project Work in itself. If you Care about the content of the Project, Look at scope and more precisely at Work breakdown structure. ;)

Hi Tiago, I have purchased BASB as an audio book and living in rural Australia can listen while driving. I am chuffed to have found your videos which bring clarity to the monologue which I can zone out a bit on. They are concise, relevant and engaging. Go you! I'm going to keep working through the book and the videos which I only found this week and start muddling my way through implementing the system for our farm - all the way at the other end of the world. Here is my story about dream, hobby and progress: several years ago, I found myself in the situation where I cant reach my dream of being an artist. At the same time, I had to pay my bills and became an “adult”… So I decided to go on a completely different path than what I wanted..
Now I know why it turned out like that. Art was sometime a “hobby”, a lot of the time a “dream”, and just a few time a “progress”.
I learned something about my life today, so again, thanks a lot Tiago!

the distinction between goals, dreams, projects and hobbies is fundamental to getting to the next higher pedestal and improving ourselves. I love the simplicity and to-the-point nature of your explanations.

My notion weekly dashboard contains goals tables based on priority .once project is created for that goal ..goal in the goal's table is labeled as project created.and then the project is the thing to follow with tasks.
It's a different thing that most of the goals don't see the day of the light and stays and die in the goals table.

Wish there was a transcript of this. I don't take in information very well from videos. I can understand it quicker when I read it. Takes up too much time and I lose interest. Maybe it's my ADHD? I can't even tell if this will work for me. Maybe it's too specific and structured.

Dunno. I think he's right about separating out these strands, but it's not always that neat. Can't a dream be the seed of a project or goal? Enjoyment of a hobby can turn into a goal or a life change. This seems too bluntly categorical, but I get it's a five minute video. I can think of people whose lives have turned after a bout of serendipity or even one conversation or opportunity which was the catalyst to awakening a dormant goal.
He kept it succinct and to the point, without going into enough details to make it clear, relying on external sources being assumed.
The difference between a dream and a project which is true for a hobby as well as outside of it being a hobby is taking steps and acting on it. Dreams don’t require action, but projects require at least one step that has a measurable result, and ideally, a clear step of steps required and acted upon via a plan.
Dreams have another major difference: zero accountability to anyone or anything. What’s not measured might as well not exist.

- Goals are not magic spells, what really makes a difference is what comes after setting that goal - the project that you create to take you there. Projects are where things actually happen, where intention meets action, where the abstract plans in our head get manifested into this material reality. if the goal is the destination a project is a vehicle that takes you there. If you have a goal that you want to achieve but there's no project attached to it , that is called a dream.
- every dream is waiting for that one moment when you decide to commit and begin taking those practical steps only then does it become a goal.
- let's take the opposite case - you have a project but no associated goal that is what's called a hobby, in that case you're doing something you might even be doing a lot of it but if there's nowhere that you're trying to arrive at nowhere in particular then you must be basically doing it just for fun.
- a project without a goal is a hobby a goal without a project is a dream
- instead of just dreaming and instead of just tinkering you'll need two things you'll need a goal to inspire you and give you direction and you'll need a project to make it
