Grand Seiko line really has a lot to offer. Interesting to see how it will do as an independent brand. This watch looks amazing! Great video and happy to see a shorter length format, but some watches deserve that sweet screen time.
I remember the original review last year snd remarked to myself how beautiful this timepiece is. This video just reinforces it. Thumbs up for five minute videos -- it is greatly appreciated.
Another one that is actually better in person than in the video, and the video shows it very well. Still considering this, such a great watch and an interesting movement.
I want it! Just need to save up for one. Sure, you could get a nice Rolex Explorer II or GMT Master for about as much.. probably a little more depending if you're talking new or used.. those, of course, are nice GMT's but I think all too common and the go-to GMT watch nearly everyone who wants and can afford one will gravitate towards... and even if you can't, so many will buy a nice homage that looks exactly like one at a fraction of the cost just for that exact style.. usually the Pepsi or the Batman. I like how Seiko did their own spin on the GMT with some very nice details you pointed out here and on your past video(s) about this watch. And, that spring drive movement is damn awesome. Sure, the glossiness of the finish, especially the bezel, can make it hard to read, but I don't think it's that hard to shift the angle of your wrist to clear the reflection up and make it more easily legible again. Despite the reflectiveness of the bezel, it's that same attribute that also makes it so nice and interesting to gaze at. I think there's a high degree you won't run into another person that will have this GS GMT on their wrist as opposed to the Rolexes... or the many homages of the Rolex GMT and Explorer II models. As with the branding changes between the SBGE001 & SBGE201.. It's not that big a deal to me.. essentially the exact same watch and quality. I think I like the fact the dial is not as busy with the SBGE201 since it is not Co-Branded with SEIKO & Grand Seiko. It's just Grand Seiko which is more dominant in the 201 and I think really should be the headlining brand for such a watch.. But, if the SBGE001 is reasonably less expensive that the SBGE201, I would not hesitate to get the 001 instead... although, looking at prices, you'd be surprised to find the 201 can cost the same as the 001.
I have the SBGE001 and it is my favorite piece in a collection that includes Rolex, Omega, Breitling and JLC. The quality and finish is extraordinary and I love the sapphire bezel. Spring drive is just beautiful to admire and the accuracy is amazing. My only gripe is that I do not like the taper of the case on all these GS. I also feel the bezel ridges could be of other design.
really gorgeous piece. LOVE it. the only thing i'd change is make the entire bracelet brushed (tone down the shine-niness a bit). the new version is GREAT too. love how they placed "Grand Seiko" under 12. it deserves to bare that name and logo on top... thanks for the review..
As long as they continue to do everything better, I'm in their camp. I switched from Rolex years ago after being really shamelessly and continually ripped off by Rolex dealers. I use my SBGE001 in my day to day profession and it is simply the best GMT watch I've ever owned.
I like the camera work on this review, but @ 5 minutes you left so much out. Firstly, I would think that only true enthusiast would be the target audience for a timepiece such as this. I would imagine that every detail is pertinent, and relevant in this case. Possibly doing a side by side comparison to a rolex gmt ii, which would accentuate the fluidity of the incredible second hand sweep... Explaining what makes the spring drive so special compared to typical Swiss movements. I personally prefer as much diligence as possible when considering watch investments, but I understand that many don't. If it were a rolex submariner I'd be more forgiving, it's hard to add to what's already been stated about those watches. But, in this case I'd really like to have seen you stretch your horological wings a lot more. Thanks for your time and effort.
@@BruceWilliams I garner enjoyment from researching /learning about timepieces, and then buying them and wearing them. I appreciate your time/effort in your work on yt. I have seen and enjoyed a lot of your videos. I have researched Seiko's spring drive movement and am very impressed with the accuracy and science behind this technology. For me, I appreciate Seiko's accomplishments in this feat. I'd like to see someone comprehensively break down all that's gone into the Grand Seiko brand. Hodinke has done some very interesting reporting, but I feel like there's still room for more of the story. A lot of watch geeks know a little about spring drive, and Grand Seiko, but I feel not enough. Keep up the good work, and all the best to you and your family throughout the holidays.
I'm sure it's a great watch but I dislike the name "Grand Seiko". Sounds awkward to me, even kind of dorky. And I hate the font that it's written in. Just seems inappropriate.
WOW! So good to see this again. I'd forgotten how gorgeous it is
Nobody shows a watch off better, great job!
Thanks!

Macro shots rock my world x
God Damn!!That watch is gorgeous
Amazing work of art!
Thumbs up, I love that watch
Agree on the 5 min videos
Best RUclips channel going.
That's so stunning wow. Better finished and a more interesting movement than the Rolex GMT Master in my opinion.
Wow killer watch for sure.
Impressive quality shots as always Bruce, really nicely done especially the macros!
Thank you, I really like doing that part
Lovely watch.
First again! Love that GS. Beautiful. You shouldn't have any trouble selling that one!
The reflection on the crystal will drive me insane. Cool watch though
Yeah, its pretty crazy isnt it

Agreed, in fact I've yet to see any GS model 'in the wild'
Great watch. I take this over a Submariner any day..

I need this watch in my life
I have the impression Grand Seiko is really taking off.
I agree
Yeay Grand Seiko really ripped off, copied, stole and maniputaled when it invented the Spring Drive movement.
Crawl back in your cave, please
Weird Science they were also the first to create the quartz movement a game changer that almost destroyed the Swiss.
You know nothing

If you like the sapphire bezel, check out the Steinhart Ocean 44 GMT
Def a Grail for me
Fantastic watch, GLWS
Still got the watch?
Is this a mechanical time peice?
Do you still have the watch?
If you can't or won't do GS what are your thoughts on Ananta?
Yet to try one, but they look pretty cool
I was about to say i'll take it for three... oh well.
Gourgous watch. You shouldn't have any problems selling that.

If you want a more in depth video, my initial review on this was almost half an hour. Better yet, you should start a watch review channel!

Qual o preço dele no usa?
I bought my black Bay 41 from Timeless luxury watches
The angled 4 o'clock date, nah. Surprised GS didn't adjust the date wheel to keep it parallel to the other text.
Grail!!!
how much this cost
I love Seiko, Spring Drive is cool, like the Snowflake, but just can't like the look of this particular model ... :/
Pants!

What, no anti reflection coating? What a shitty watch! Lol
What a whitty comment
Frank Schroth hates got to hate your a idiot
