Thanks a lot for tuning in! Please let me know what you liked most about this video and I would appreciate a sub too if you aren’t already. Have a great day!
I liked that you shared, to a greater depth than usual, the fears that crossed your mind along the way. Last year I abandoned a planned run down the Petawawa when the river was already super high and the forecast was calling for an insane amount of additional rain the next day. Ended up paddling upstream back to launch in the dark. I was a bit surprised that you didn't consider the option of just camping out overnight and then finishing up in the morning.
I like the camera angles. Behind and to the side you're paddling on is epic while going through rapids. Also the slo-mo, you did that right, didn't slow it down too much but just enough to capture the the intensity without losing it in the slo-mo
Sitting on edge of ones seat as your bitting your nails as the next turn adds more epic events. Tori your a brave woman being married to this amazing adventure man.
Almost midnight here Exciting watching you move the waters As you recover curling i Waves pulling you in Churning waters trying To tip you in Your strength is your Friend Big Jim Waves trying to pull you In I am
This video is a raw and powerful example of what paddling sport can be. Springtime - high and cold water. Great angles from the rear over shoulder perspective. Sometimes you just don't know how long a run will take because the guidebooks are wrong or were never written. Some of those rapids were near class 4 in my book. Keeping a positive attitude and smashing out the route with finesse when most would fold. Great stuff Jim stay confident out there!
You're a confident and courageous guy but also calculated...Great to see your decision making at work. Here's to a great year of paddling for the bairds!
Now that is what I'm talking about. It has been a while but when I saw you in my favourite area, I was pulled in. I love the madawaska, and you make it the most fun that I have seen it. At 71 I am not a whitewater paddler, I'm afraid that I would make a real mess of things trying that. I have missed your paddling adventures and I am glad to see that you are back. Me and my 15' prospector love doing the lower madawaska, but this trip you did, really got the blood pumping. Have a great summer.
Thanks a lot and will do! I enjoy the lower mad and I used to run it from Aumand’s Bay to Buck Bay regularly on day trips before going to my family cottage in the area.
Sidewinding Jim Baird THE HALLMARK CANADIAN avoids rapids solo and defeats darkness to become the first decent of the Wagamakeipuki river in bumble frick egypt canada and saves the country from the NHL expansion teams! Hell of a video bud great run and keep em coming
Me, and another armature bow man , wrapped an open top canoe in strong class 4 rapids. The canoe was 1 month New. We bent it between a couple of trees , jumped inside on the keel and used it another 25 years with minor leakage. One Bucket List Item down... with a Yak to go in future years.
Man that’s a nice boat. Your videos have inspired me to learn how to canoe. I’ve purchased myself a second hand Nova Craft 16’ Prospector. I have a 3 day river trip planned next weekend. I can’t wait
Jim, I'm beginning to think you like to challenge yourself. That had me on the edge of my seat. Through it all, I knew you could do it! ///have a great day as well!
What I love about watching you whitewater canoe is that you appear to be a force of nature all of your own. You collide with the other force of nature, the whitewater, and then the two of you blend and harmonize together. It is quite an enjoyable thing to watch. I know you don’t feel like that when you are in the whitewater though. You’re too skilled to feel that way!
Great job JIM in getting to your truck safe. That to was one hell of an adventure. Thanks for all the information on what you used and the gear you used its great to get thus info and the footage of the river on class 1234 rapids.
The behind/forward-facing camera placement is great. The offset view definitely enhances the spatial effect when you are bombing the rapids! Makes it look even more impressive. Thanks!
I Grew up in Whitney and I didn’t know anyone from there that ever went down the river. Only kayakers who were from out of town. The closest i came was a buddy and his dad and i took an old aluminum canoe from the dam to where you started from. Great little trip by the look of it! We would snorkel below the dam in summer and get all the snagged lures 😊
I think that you are right about your supernova being pushed by waves -- it likes to have a good load to give it some momentum when hitting waves. I would say it is a whitewater tripper rather than just a whitewater play boat. Used mine on a solo of the Colounge and Noire and it ate most rapids for breakfast.
That was a nail biter. How is reading the river in the twilight? Easier seeing the white froth and curlers, seeing lines, or worse? I’ve always wondered. Great video!
Good to live in the North and have that bit of Extra sun this coming part of year. And best parts?? Getting home safe to wire up some more to do it again....and take everyone with ya. Very cool man.
Great stuff big fella, that boat looks like a superb edition to the fleet. Favourite part? Big Jim back in his natural habitat of course, getting wet so I don't have to.
Now this was a well done canoe video. You managed to make it exciting (lots of canoe videos are scenic but not exactly exciting). Well done! I wish I was on the river with you!
Thanks a lot for tuning in! Please let me know what you liked most about this video and I would appreciate a sub too if you aren’t already. Have a great day!
Slo-mo water immersion!!!

That was a hair-raising way to start this year's paddling season. Glad you survived. Looked like a very challenging run. Great job.
My favorite parts. Sounds of the waters, nature chirping, the scenery. Great video.
"You're a braver man than I, Gunga Din" as Mr Kipling would say. Awesome Jim 👍
Love to watch u Jim but i miss ur family specially jim jr. Hehehe

Thank you for filming this adventure. As a reward this season I hope the mosquitoes f*&k off. 🥳

Thanks, ya it was great to get out.
Good job Jim. Great editing Tori
Jim baird, u did an amazing job on your adventure
Awesome video, even better editing. Can't wait to be running this in a few weeks at a VERY different water level.
Great video. Very exciting. Couldn’t stop watching!!!
That slow motion through the rapids made me think of the song "The Edmund Fitzgerald". RIP Gordon Lightfoot. Nice editing.
Jim that was awesome, if your son be with you he love that and I just hear him say yeah good job take care take care.
Yeeahhhh!! Your whitewater stuff is my Fave! I love it all, but this is the best. Thanks for sharing the adventure Jim.
Scary but exhilarating, was on the edge of my seat a few times! Great paddling, thanks for sharing. :) :)
You’re welcome! Ya, scary but exhilarating pretty much sums up how it felt too!
That was fun Jim... and scary 😅
Fun to try and pick what line he’s going to take. Thanks Jim.
What a heartfelt thrill when we DID IT
Absolutely! Thanks for coming along,
Off the hitch 👍🏻
snow is gone water flowing the start of a new season of adventure stay safe and have fun
Jeez you are a madman! My palms where sweating.
Love the solo canoe Jim! " little Niagara sounds relaxing" LMAO
Intensity is your signature.
Wow you sure get into some dangerous places , keeps us on the edge of our seats . Exciting for sure , be safe !
Will do and thanks. Ya, these types of places can be quite dangerous if you’re not prepared with appropriate skill and gear.
Holy smokes there Jim what fun!❤❤❤
Glad you snuck it in time!👏👏
Oh my gosh...those rapids are hair raising. But you and your brother are some braising and take them on like you're doing laundry. Holy shit!
In spite of the canoe learning curves, the high water and the late start...i loved this video!!!
Thanks a lot! Ya, they just added to the story in the end.
Super sweet video! TY!
Thanks!
Awesome. I love the Supernova. It handles whitewater so well!
Fun view Jim. As with all your content, I enjoy seeing what you put yourself and your equipment through.
all right! thx jim!

Thanks very much! And I think that, ya, you gotta use the current to your advantage and not fight it as you’ll never win.
Confident canoeing. ❤
Great example of river reading and making the right decisions. Beautiful river! Thanks Jim
Great smart call on that early crazy rapid Jim! Got to be safe when you are out there alone. You love the rush, nothing wrong with that. 😉
A super exiciting video as always Jim!
Great job JIM in getting to your truck safe. That to was one hell of an adventure. Thanks for all the information on what you used and the gear you used its great to get thus info and the footage of the river on class 1234 rapids.

You drive that canoe like its a floating go-cart in and out of the waves. Great video.
The behind/forward-facing camera placement is great. The offset view definitely enhances the spatial effect when you are bombing the rapids! Makes it look even more impressive. Thanks!

Exciting start to the season!!
Excellent, Jim. Pretty sleek canoe.
Nice, job well done. Enjoyed the video Jim and BE SAFE OUT THERE!
Very challenging run but you did it. Some of those rapids looked pretty rough. Great video!
I like the camera position when you have it in the back. It makes the waves look bigger.
Shout out mothaflippin Tori for editing and uploading this 😊
Thank you!!
Great filming and editing.Nice start of the season.

I really like how you went over your gear, awesome video!
That was a great one Jim! The rivers out here in Oregon are running super high and I can't wait to get out again 😀
Good to live in the North and have that bit of Extra sun this coming part of year. And best parts?? Getting home safe to wire up some more to do it again....and take everyone with ya. Very cool man.
Was waiting for this one after finding out what your new boat was. Interesting watch as always.
Loved every minute! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
What a great canoe video, seems to a little sketchy in places, looked like a wild ride.
Very cool. Love the new solo Nova Craft. Some of those rapids were pretty intense but you often make it look easy. Thanks for bringing us along.
You’re welcome! Thanks for tuning in
Great stuff big fella, that boat looks like a superb edition to the fleet.
Favourite part? Big Jim back in his natural habitat of course, getting wet so I don't have to.
How can you stay a float with those big balls of steel. You sure know what your doing. Love watching your adventures.
Now this was a well done canoe video. You managed to make it exciting (lots of canoe videos are scenic but not exactly exciting).
Well done!
I wish I was on the river with you!
