She is so fucking good at those
as someone who has been SA'd (a guy, by a guy) listening and seeing some of the animatics for calypso's songs. brought some lost feelings to the surface. and for context. i am fine with everything that's happened. unfortunate yes but i am doing well :P
To me it seems like Odysseus doesn’t love Calypso even platonically but instead feels sorry for her. I don’t know if I read too much into it but he says he loves her literally right after she sings “I wish you would lie and say”. That paired with him looking emotionless in the animatic makes me feel like he cares enough for her to lie but not more than that
It's a weird and messy situation. Hell it could be familial for all we know. "I love you, but not in the way that you want me to." For all we can tell, after 7 years despite the unintended abuse Ody may have come to see Calypso for what she pretty much is: A poorly adjusted child who just doesn't know any better, so in the end, all he can really do is pity her rather than hate her.
@ It’s definitely messy and sadly only Odysseus gets a happy ending (hopefully he does at least) while Calypso is stuck all alone again. She deserves to get off that island, perhaps getting to Circe’s island would be good for her
I freaking love that Odysseus invented a wind surfer. Like that would make no logical sense with the probably just ropes and logs he had but it's cool so it gets a pass.
OMG IS THAT THE VENGEANCE SAGA I SEE 🌝 LUV THIS SAGA SO MUCH ALSO UR MODEL IS SO COOL >W
Ya know.. now that I’m thinking about it… how CLOSE is the Sea of Monsters if Poseidon mentions something in the next song that makes it sound like it’s disturbingly close to Ithaca-
I really love your perspective on the stuff with Calypso! Your takes are things I haven't seen much elsewhere and they take a way more nuanced stance while not absolving her of wrongdoing; her circumstance doesn't excuse what she did, but it does explain it, and it allows one to feel sorry for her without denying that she was wrong. I understand why people don't like her and I'll never say anyone is wrong for doing so, but it's definitely refreshing to see someone take a deeper look and really understand why she behaves the way she does. I'm especially fond of your take that she's not in love with Ody, she's in love with the *idea* of him, I think that describes the whole thing really well.
charybdis is Poseidons daughter who was mutated into what we see her now that’s why Poseidon doesn’t go near Scylla because it brings up bad memories of how he lost his daughter or how his daughter was hurt and he couldn’t prevent it
Still don't like Calipso tho, i can understand her but all i can do is pitty her.
Yus correct take. We feel sorry for her but she can still catch these hands
she's forgetting that they're BOTH victims
She is indeed a very pitiable person. She isn't socially adjusted at all, so it's no wonder even her apology misses the forest for the trees in just why she was in the wrong. By the end of all that even Ody seems to see it that way too: She's more like a maladjusted child. Doesn't change the fact she was horribly wrong, but you see why she's the way she is.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR UR REACTION YIPPEEE
Though it is a bit funny when Calypso says her only friends are the sun and sky, when Helios is the literal sun and her dad Atlas is holding up the sky
I think in the original myth they were basically going through the middle trying to thread the needle between Scylla and Charybdis but in trying to fight the whirlpools pull they strayed to close to Scylla and she got six men while in the musical the sirens told him the only survivable route, Poseidon would have sunk them, Charybdis was only possible because Odysseus was a smaller target on a raft a large ship is almost impossible to pass without sinking or capsizing or even someone faling over board while Scylla would only take six but even then if there were no lights for her to target she also could have destroyed the ship in search for food, the only reason Jason and the Argonauts passed Charybdis was because Hera made Themis help them pass
11:11 love the way you explain it
Calypso is not a innocent person maybe naive but not innocent but she can be pity’d enough for Odysseus to lie and say “I love you” but not enough to lie and say it’s anything deeper than pity
