OH AND FOR THE UNDERWORLD SAGA THERE ARE ONLY 3 SONGS... My recommendations are... The Underworld by ShiQing47 No Longer You by Ximena Natzel Monster by gigi :)
I think Eurylochus is right here. She may very well be immortal and going after her could be a sucide mission. Oddy wouldn't have stood a chance if it wasn't for devine intervetion. So it's hard to blame him for thinking the pigified men couldn't be saved and they should just feel from this witch.
I am so excited to see you continue and finish watching through Epic, it’s my current obsession and your reactions are incredible!! very excited for the underworld saga :D
Also, with regards to why pigs. If you've heard the aphorism "Men are pigs", you may well have just met the origin of that aphorism. (To be clear the first time that actual phrase is known to have been used is H. G. Wells. But The Odyssey is considered to be where the major association came from)
I think you’re being a bit hard on Eurylochus here. Keep in mind that Circe is a powerful sorceress and goddess and they don’t know if they can kill her. Is it really worth invoking the wrath of a goddess on the near 40 men you have left for the few that got turned. Who knows what would’ve happened if Hermes didn’t help Odysseus. Everyone gets a bit annoyed at Eurylochus for being a pessimist but this is the second time Odysseus is charging head first into a goddess and Eurylochus is the needed voice of caution.
Oh man this is one of the least intense sagas, so I'm p sure you won't get too traumatized from it. Also fun fact: Jorge is dating the voice of Circe (Talya Sindel)
5:46 In his defense every time tgey try to do something lot's of people die and if you rephrase it Odysseus's idea is ridiculous. Let's fight a god to rescue a couple pigs who trusted a strange woman
Definetly the least intense saga so far So a few things before you get into the underworld saga 1: another man has died right after the last song because he got wasted drunk and fell off circe's roof (an off screen death) so we have 42 men left and 558 dead 2: Jorge (odysseus singer) is dating the singer for circe 3: bring tissues for the underworld saga.. Trust me you will need it Great video! Cant wait for the next!
noooooo not tissues. They're dating?! How cute! Someone fell off Circe's Roof?! wtf lol. I did notice the due on there in the "sooo much power" men's chorus towards the end. I just thought he was partyin . . .well I guess he was lol.
This is the most underrated saga, but I will say the last two songs are my favorite especially there are other ways. Yes, I know the context but musically it’s one of my favorites plus it ends on a good note. And not only this is the most underrated saga, but it’s also the least traumatic and it has a good ending, which is the only one time thing in this musical. Maybe except the ending of the story at all. Prepare yourself for the next saga because you’re going to need a lot of tissues
@@TheParagade Do you think anytime she wants to get her way, she breaks into song like "There are other ways of persuasion . . ." because that would be hilarious lol.
@Obsidiana_99 Indeed, it's greek mythology. We are talking about the same myths where the king og gods is married to his sister, so.... you know.... 😂
7:51 Eurylochus is thinking about the crew they have left. The scouts were turned into pigs by an unknown power, a possible Goddess and he didn’t want to risk the remainder of the crews lives on what could’ve been a suicide mission. As we later find out, Circe is the daughter of Helios the titan of the sun, mortals cannot beat the divine without another God or Goddess helping them. Apart from Odysseus, no one else in the crew is comfortable with the idea of trusting the Gods, Eurylochus and the crew have no divine blood in them, they were not mentored by a Goddess from a young age. They fear the Gods because they only know the tales where the divine use mortals as playthings. Odysseus is related to Hermes which sets him apart from the rest of Ithaca, he doesn’t have the same view of the Gods as his countrymen due to the experience he’s had with Athena. It’s why he didn’t even think about the danger he was putting the crew in ‘luck runs out’ he doesn’t have that natural fear of involving the Gods in mortal affairs.
Why pigs? Why not pigs? Pigs are fairly easy to keep. They eat practically anything, so you dont need specific food crops for them, and they are pretty sturdy and resilient. And they are very similar to humans in a lot of aspects, very intelligent for animals, tha capacity for both kindness and cruelty, etc. Pigs are, in many things, a more animalistic version of humans. Hell, it's possible to use a pig heart for a transplant, put it in a human, and it'll work about as well as another human one would. So, yeah. Turning humans into animals? If you ain't turning them into straight up monkeys, pigs are the next best and closest thing.
Puppeteer: I love the call and response in this song between Eury and Circe. It makes for an interesting tone for that’s different from most the others. Gigi’s animatic is also just… so gorgeous. I love their design for Circe. That full 360 shot while swapping between characters? So freakin good. Wouldn’t You Like: A very catchy song, and again something we haven’t quite heard from the musical yet. So the reason Hermes’ design has shaded eyes is because his singer is always wearing shades/sunglasses. At least to my understanding. It also just helps give off that trickster vibe where you’re not really sure what he’s after. Also, Hermes is Ody’s great grandfather. So that’s a fun tidbit. Done For: Dude the flow for this song is so good. I love the approach that Circe and Ody want the same thing, to protect the people they care about: Ody with his men and Circe with her nymphs. There Are Other Ways: Ugh, I absolutely love Gigi’s animatic for this song! I love all the little character details they put in. How Circe undoes and re-ties her hair, how she circles Ody, how the nymphs are weary when they see Ody but relax when Circe assures them it’s okay. The way the color palette changes when she mentions the Underworld, and the animation for the smoke, how it’s all sketchy looking. God, I could gush about this animatic forever. Again, I also just love this Circe design. She’s kind of has a lion motif happening. It’s really neat. The little drawing at the end card with Ody missing his wife and Circe just looking so done. It’s so cute and funny. And then about the song itself, that finally riff Talya Sindel (Circe) just belts out is everything to me. On top of them bringing Puppeteer back in? Someone sedate me. Also just how you hear Penelope’s little motif after Ody breaks free of Circe’s spell, letting you know before he says anything how he was able to resist. He just loves his wife so much and for a second there it almost turns into a venting session for Ody in which Circe is just like “what is happening?” But it’s Ody’s loyalty to his wife and the showing that he’s different than the men Circe has dealt with in the past (the ones that are implied to have taken advantage of- to put it lightly - her and her nymphs) that ultimately changes her mind and why she decides to help. I love this saga so much. My favorite of Act 1 for sure.
Erylochus had a really good point. By himself odysseus has no hope against Circe. If anything going there will tell her there are more men on her island and make her catch them after odysseus. Circe is technically a goddess... Not a major one like athena but she is still daughter of Helios and a brutal enemy. So yes I agree correct decision is cut our loses and lets run because even if we defeat the witch we dont know how to turn them into men sgain woops Also this time he wasnt the voice of crew it was him directly. He has no background crew support so this time its %100 his personal opinion There is gonna be a moment gives you a right to hate him in future but this aint it
5:38 Na, I fully understand eury here. There's nothing that scares greek men more than a confident woman using magic, because that implies that it's a goddes, which means that trying to go against her will lead to even more losses. I mean they just faced poseidon, and now there's another deity? "Hell no, I'm outta here" is a very sensible reaction And he's right, if it wasn't for hermes helping, ody would have likely died. As is, one man did actually die at circes island, but you'll likely hear about him in the next saga from the comments.
Yea there have been a few people who provided a better outlook on Eury. I get where he's coming from, but when Odysseus said, "I can only hope you'd do the same . . ." Eurylochus said NOTHING. Like that's supposed to be your GUY. And that just proves he wouldn't have his back if the situation were reversed. Idk. I feel like Odysseus is way more ride or die with his crew than Eury is. But also, yea. Scary magic witchy lady. Mad respect to Odysseus though for going in to save them anyway, even without knowing he'd have help yet. That's hella brave. I guess I just really want his second to be more like that.
