@Billy Ray Valentine we get taxed on the money we earned. Then we get taxed on the money that we spend on necessities. Double taxation at best. I dont really consider it theft as we do use the money to pay people to maintain our parks, public resources such as police and firefighters, National security etc. I learned this when i have visited third world countries. I get upset when people abuse for example the welfare system.

Lucky me, I got audited about 15 years ago. My income was about around $95-110k, self employed small office, one employee besides myself. Income generated by the business was about $225-250k. I am in a business with known for very high overhead. This IRS agent hounded me for a YEAR. The only thing they got me on was some credit card purchases that I didn't have receipts for or couldn't prove so they included that as personal income. Once they started looking at one return, they went to the previous one to compare things so they really audited 2 years. My life was hell. The government paid this agent to keep coming after me for an entire year. I can't make this crap up. Six months after this IRS agent dragged me through the mud, he died of an stroke. Karma.

I was selected for a ‘random’ audit back in the early 80’s. I was in sales and my income was mid-high 20’s at the time. I itemized my return. A small math error was found in favor of the IRS, less than $20.00, which they waived. The examiner asked if I had the same kind of detailed records for the 2 tax years prior and set me up for another audit of those years, which was performed by the same examiner. The end result was no change to my tax obligation but what a waste of time, for them and for me.

Sure does. 0% capital gains tax and 50% savers credit FTW. Using those two wonderful gifts I make about $55k a year and pay $0 tax. If I never get a raise and tax law doesn't change for 40 years I won't ever pay a dollar in tax. Not even on my Roth conversions when I retire.
Tax code is very generous to low/middle income. The trick is finding a place where you can live cheaply enough to save 50% of your income and actually take advantage of it.
Bit of a catch 22, but if you can make it work it's quite the benefit.

The second year they did this and just guessed that they probably sold the same amount as they did the year before, this apparently got them red flagged and audited. The audit risk may be decreasing because the IRS is using digital analysis to initially identify more serious issues, rather than conduct lots of audits and have most of them not be worth the time and expense.

Revenuers hate success! They are mostly loosers who could not succeed in the real world or failed accountants who were fired from a private firm. They take their anger out on the successful people by trying to take their property. A good attorney will twist them up every time.

This question probably won’t get answered but worth a shot. I’m active duty military. I moved this year from Hawaii to California. Due to some extreme mess ups in paperwork(not my fault) I ended up spending around 10k on my move. This is a combination of the navy not understanding my move while doing 2 quarantine periods as well as not paying for lodging for 3 months because my “move status” wasn’t clear in the paperwork. I ended up paying out of pocket for all of this and through everything it ended up being 10k. Went through the process of getting this back and basically have been told tough shit that sucks. Can’t do anything about. I think it could be complicated for me to prove this if I got audited but technically I have over 10k in moving expenses from military orders that were not paid for by the military. This was a deduction on my taxes. I’m kind of scared to file. How much risk am I taking by filing this 10k deduction? I made around 130k total this year. 50-60k ish of that is taxable income from the military. A little over 30k in investments and the rest is untaxed allowances. Any advice?

This is so interesting! I work at a low-income taxpayer clinic helping low-income clients with very large tax debt. While it makes sense that the IRS would rather go after wealthy taxpayers and businesses, the wealthy can afford lawyers to combat the IRS. Many of my clients have $200k(+) in federal tax debt. Please don’t think you won’t be audited if you don’t make over $500k!

One year, I had started a new job and quit my old one. I started in February, so when the next year rolled around I only did my taxes for that W2. Two weeks after I turned in my taxes, I received my w2 from my previous employer. The amount was only about 4k.
My family thought that federal agents were going to break down my door. I just told them that they're not going to bother. It would cost the IRS more money to have an agent even contact me than what the amount of taxes would have been.

Brian, your channel is great. When I received my undergrad degree in accounting, (many years ago) our tax teacher (who worked in the IRS tax department for years) told us there is something called a "random audit"...a tax return pulled at random (without any IRS personnel looking at the return before it is pulled for audit.) At that time, the random audit rate was 1 out of 100 returns (when the IRS had far more resources.) All of the variables you discuss in this video had no connection whatsoever to a random audit. The IRS simply pulled 1 out of 100 returns at random for audit. Of course the percentage rate of a random audit would be far lower today. Do you know, does this type of audit still exist? Thanks.

    • @clearvaluetax9382
      @clearvaluetax9382  4 года назад +1

Hi Ronald, yes, this type of audit does still exist. However, if the average is 1 out of 100, they're still using the targeting method for the vast majority of the audits. So the "random audits" would more likely be 1 out of 500 or 1 out of 1,000. Resources to the IRS are just drying up each and every year. Even the IRS agents will tell you the same.

In Germany, an average person pays income tax, and he pays various social security , like the retirement contributions.
That german person has to pay taxes on his car, then he has to pay taxes for his cars insurance , he has to pay taxes on his fuel too!! He pays taxes on food and other consumptions, taxes on every single thing he touches...
And what's the worst part ?
His state retirement contributions, are being taxed to him when they pay them back to him when he reaches the age of 67..... and if u wanna retire at the age of 45, they tax his retirement contributions at 50% ....
Oh and guess what, the reason electricity costs 0,35$ here, is because 25% is tax, 25% some other shit and 35% is renewable energy tax..... to finance the energy companies to build renewable energy sources.... so instead of letting the energy companies to use their profits to build the wind mills, they force "us" to pay the energy companies to build the wind mills for the energy that will be produced from them, to be taxed again!!!
Only 15% of the energy bill is the actual energy cost + profit ......
