I've been playing Germany for about 5 years now and I must say, playing Germany teaches you how to micro(well Spain too, shout out to all them 2005 boys. staying strong!)

11:29 Things need to be corrected: Uhlan comes from EVERY cards except Age1 cards, team cards and mercenary.
I don’t think it does… it doesn’t state on the later unit upgrades that they provide uhlans.

He's right. 2 uhlans with each age2 card, 3 for each in age3 and 4 in age4. The only exceptions are team cards and mercenaries. Merc cards get additional mercs instead of uhlans though and it is stated in the card'a descriptions. Thats why germany gets 9 black riders for 1k gold when other civs get 7 for the price. Pretty crazy tbh
You can see it at 11:29 when you hover over the cav combat Age II card. It says it also delivers two uhlans. @@Widgie
I know it says 2 (or 3), but sometimes I get shipments with one or no uhlans that are age 2 shipments. I think there is a bug related to housing issues. It makes Germany a big challenge as one shipment can require 2-3 new houses or else you lose your only significant civ bonus.
Euro civs build churches for xp trickle. I think it's like 0.7x of a typical TP. So if your explorer isn't available to drop a TP or you want a safer trickle you drop a church.
yeah there was an opening with Malta to get 3 churches instead of a TP, but it does use one shipment; probably why it was abandonned
the unit LOS upgrade also helps

This is a standard opening versus Japan. Kaiserklein always does the 8 bow versus Japan, although he usually goes age 3 right after
Forward bases are really underrated, especially in AoE2. In AoE3 they are more common due to unit shipments, but here Bismarck showed you don't even have to rely on them.
Church is probably for the xp trickle
Otto did the same deck on Lionheart's recent posting. I think this forward tower is as old and powerful as the free uhlan shipments.
I suffer from Autism and ADHD, so I have trouble remembering the exact build orders shown in your excellent videos, is there any written version available somewhere, such as on your discord server or any other place?
I’m afraid I don’t have any written guides however I would recommend the Free Food Party Discord server which has some superb detailed guides
This strat has been around since the game came out
People just remembering how is it to play with ancient army. Cuz aoe3de offers a lot of new tactics and people just forgot about old. That guy showed us something covered by dust, nothing special.
Hey widgie. I have a question for Japan. the thing i dont understand. Is that Ezad trained Ashigaru against Xbows. Why is there like a dislike for Yumis? It was already known that he would lose as i saw 20 Xbows outnumber ashigaru. Ashi are strong but bro....Spamming them on archaic skirms? L

600 wood into 5 ashi how much more do you do, japan has no tempo
japans early army shipments arent very strong. the biggest problem about japan is that they dont have cav shipments age 2 even though you can technically train riders from this age
@@jakubmalinowski1474 it boils down to japan having terrible tempo, and other civ can have a good tempo in age2
@@lolslayer58 i think age 2 tempo japan is slow but not terrible, hardest counter to them is xbow spam early and on close-poor maps it really is problematic for them. when japan hits FA everything is simpler. so yeah i agree but the only reason this is happening is because they cannot do anything against crossbows early. yumis are bad because they are expensive and masswise weaker than xbows from tc.

Hi widgie, I just wanted to say that this strat/Bo is the main one used to play vs Japan. It exists since... I dunno, years mabbye ;) Kynesie taught me it bc it's almost the only good gameplan for Germany vs Japan, but works really well (for instance I played it 3 days ago versus Ezad too)

Tou could do 2 videos of the same match, 1 video showing only german moves, another showing only japan moves
It's not a case of a German meta more than it is an anti-japan meta, it's well known that you should/will almost aways suceed doing a pike bow rush vs japan
