Gotta applaud these real birdmen who are keeping these types of birds going in the hobby. Preservation is an art of working with what's available, what a real challenge. 🙇
I'm back. I don't keep canary s but the Scots are tempting. I have never seen them in south central Missouri USA. But I well keep an eye out for them. Thank You again and have a fantastic day !!!
You just feel the passion and the love for the birds watching this wise man. Just like hou Matt not a fan of the giboso but the scotch and belgians I can really apreciate. Great episode once again!
Brilliant vid Matt. Good to see something different although you are right. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.:)) Coming back to the hobby after 27 years. I was shocked how much the hobby had went down hill over the years in Scotland. Its such a shame.
This is a video of the highest quality. Matt, your interview of Donald shows him as an intelligent and articulate supporter of these rare variaties and his commitment and enjoyment is obvious. I applaud him but these variaties are not for me. Beauty (not) in the eye of the beholder as you said! I wish Donald continued success.
@@donaldskinner-reid8998 I saw a photo of one this morning, the Giboso, someone said they were bad parents, but I have heard same about Gouldians, in my experience it is down mainly to how you care for them....great birds, well done.
@@beotaxi I doubt that you'd have Gibosos in NZ. They are a more modern development and will post date the ban on the import of birds. They sleep on perches like any other bird. They're not unstable.
I respect your views, there are show cages which birds are kept in for a small period of time and stock cages. There are also flights. Whilst you may fundamentally disagree with the hobby, domestic canaries are no different than cats and dogs, they have, over centuries been captive bred so their type does not exist in the wild.

Exebitional perfection beauty
Question, how difficult are the Scots, Belgian and Giboso to breed compared to Fifes ?
I've not been Fifes but all these varieties breed freely and well.
@@donaldskinner-reid8998 I saw a photo of one this morning, the Giboso, someone said they were bad parents, but I have heard same about Gouldians, in my experience it is down mainly to how you care for them....great birds, well done.
I'd tend to agree. My experience with Gouldians merely showed my lack of skill with them as a variety. The Giboso doesn't need feeders.

Belgian fancies are fairly easy to breed myself , Rod Ledsham and Geoff Bamber have bred Belgians for approximately 45 years apiece
Tormenting these birds in tiny cages. I am sure you would
Love to live in a tiny cage like that. Evil
