Fantastic footage going back, well amazingly nearly twenty years, puff of smoke! And wow 66209been in France years now, looked like new! Well it almost was then, happy days, fantastic FL 57 capture, this video was sheer heaven to watch Mike, thanks for sharing amazing vid, take care, cheers Nick.
Morning Nick, I will have to find some more shortish videos like this for you, I do have a book of photo of most of the EWS photos somewhere. keep safe Nick. Mike.
@@antman09ful1, You damn well find it ha ha! Great Mike can't wait ! Oh going Levenshulme take two, RTC working Carlisle Derby might be 37010no data yesterday so couldent bloody track it! Annoying to ssy the least! Take care Mike, cheers Nick.
lovely Mike. As one approaches Nuneaton from the east there is a railway bridge that as far as I can remember it carries a freight line fom the Leicester line over the WCML towards Birmingham
Great stuff, Mike. Interesting seeing how much has changed at Nuneaton. It looks like it was a little easier to film at without the flyover, although it makes you realise the benefits of the flyover with the number of freight cutting across.
I'm not familiar with nuneaton station apart from going through it to Euston. I cant make out where the flyover would be??? It there now a tunnel going underneath the platforms or actually a bridge going over??
Branson may have been the one responsible for the Pendlinos and Voyagers, but the Virgin livery did look very good on class 47s, 86, 87s and Mk 2 & 3 stock.
@@antman09ful1 yeah growing up in the 80s in the Durham area the train line was maybe 100 metres from our family home. The coal trains ran back n forth all day n thru the night. Early days it was class 37s then later years up until pits closed was class 56s . That smell of diesel n the rumble of engines great memories...it's s all walking routes n cycle tracks now . G
It sounds such a great place to live Gregg, but when it’s there everyday you get used to it, and nothing is then special. Say safe Gregg. Regards Mike.
Ah, the good "old" days of bright liveries and a variety of traction - and when WCML expresses used to stop at Nuneaton! Makes you wonder how they managed without the flyover, but I guess there were fewer WCML passenger services compared to today. Will be interesting to see if the potential dive-under goes ahead at the south end allowing a direct Leicester to Leamington service.
Well I would be surprised Darren if that ever happens in my life time, look how long it took to extend the service to Leamington spa and that didn't need any new track etc. Cheers for watching and keep safe mate.

There was a lot more flexibility of movement at this time. Now you can’t reverse in Nuneaton to/from Coventry/Leicester. The flyover was rather stupidly taken out of use forcing freight train to have to cross the WCML on the level.
A year or so ago, there was talk of changing the track layout to the south of the station so that direct services could run from Coventry to Nottingham via Leicester.
George Kennedy They used to do that in the 80s and 90s, and early 2000s. Bring back the Coventry - Grimsby Town service! Or better still make it Leamington Spa - Cleethorpes!
My local, spotted their most weekends late 70s early 80s...We used to sit on the wall next the garage and pub that have now gone. The pub is now a KFC...

I’ve found 8 minutes 21 seconds on my telly worth watching this Easter. Well done Mike.
Nice way of putting that Bryan, Thanks very much Mike.

Great bit of retro footage, how the railways have changed but bring back the old Locomotives! Thanks for sharing 👍
Your welcome mate, I wish all the old locos which are around the country would come back to mainline use, But we can all dream.

That’s true Kyle, I don’t like standing on the new platforms to film that much. Cheers Mike.
Smashing variety Mike .,..how things on the rail now are nearly all one dimensional
You are right Jeff, but over the last twenty years we are told it’s progress in there minds of our railways.
Happy days, remember them well. I had a mate that was station supervisor at Nuneaton. Well done Mike 🤓
They were great days which I did appreciate at the time Anthony.
Great shots at Nuneaton. Like the car and van freight.👍
Cheers David, i'm pleased you guys are enjoying my old unseen footage. Regards Mike.
That's great footage Mike, Happy Easter.
Well every day seams the same at the moment my friend, but thanks for viewing Nuneaton all them years ago, and Happy Easter to you
Great video. Nice to see freight trains without graffiti.
Are yes you are right Jonathan, thank you for taking a look. Mike.
Nice video Mike :)
Thank you Simon
Interesting to see Nuneaton pre flyover days. The signallers must have been kept busy back then
Yes It made the movements more interesting I think Paul.

Hi Tony, the flyover comes over the North end of the station onto platforms 6 & 7 which are on your right going north.
Branson may have been the one responsible for the Pendlinos and Voyagers, but the Virgin livery did look very good on class 47s, 86, 87s and Mk 2 & 3 stock.
I agree 100% AT, will have to sort out a Virgin trains video one day. You keep safe. Mike.
Great vid
Cheers Gregg, much appreciated. Regards Mike.

it's just to the north of the station., They constructed new platforms for the Leicester line over on the east side

Yes I remember that pub, the track Machines used to park over that side didn't they Mark, thanks for your comment. Regards Mike.
Hasn't really changed in 16 years!
Well it has Sam, in lots of way, flyover, two extra platforms, no virgin trains, no coal trains, less freight. Thanks for taking a look Sam.
