When China invaded India in 1961, India did not use IAF but used it against the Mizo rebellion saying it was a matter of national security. Never knew MNF was far greater threat than the Chinese Army who had already reach Dibrugarh.😂

According to the MoD’s official history of the war, aerial infrastructure was extremely weak at that time. There were no radars, the only radio link available in Leh had a range of barely 16 km, and only one sortie per day per aircraft was happening. On the eastern front, the jungle-covered terrain made close air support risky for an already-dispersed infantry.

Mainland tricked them and keep them poor in today also such that there are no many employment and industry.
Main reason of insurrgency is india add these land with them unethically without their will and consent. If mainland don't occupy illegally these areas than insurrgency never happens in these states

I think from the perspective of protecting the national territorial integrity it was a right step. The situation must be dire and that's why harsh step was taken. Indira Gandhi may have lots of flaws but she was indeed iron lady of India.

A more precise reason of Mizo insurgency was the Mautam Famine of 1959.
Though situation in NE was funded by foreign powers & Nehrus callousness from 50s era by listening to Assam Congress dynasty ppls,but in that out of control crazy situation Indira Gandhi given shock treatment was appropriate.
Actually we have very less knowledge about geopolitics of North East why these part were so ignored.....at the time of famines government should provide everything for our north east people 😢.....we feel sorry 😔

For those who said that it is the right decision, instead of giving reliefs for the starving people she drop bombs, it looks like our politicians just want the land but not the people, and FYI Mizoram was never known by India before the Britisher and it was never in India and most likely be in Burma. It was just drawn inside India by the Britisher.
I gotta say, Indira Gandhi was a strong leader. Her approaches may have seen radical and I don't agree to a lot of brutal things she ordered the army to do, but she held India at the time when India was very vulnerable and underdeveloped and under-educated.
Bjp has performed well in Nagaland, but I hope they could do well in Manipur too...
Nehru was too weak and Indira was way too strong.

The Congress led by a cruel and tyrant ruler Indira Gandhi ordered the Airforce to begin Operation Bombing on claim land and people of Mizoram.
On the first parliament session after the operation,Indira Gandhi said to the house that "We don't drop bomb,We drop ration".Immediately,Nicolas Roy who was the then Meghalaya MP opposed and showed the broken dropped bomb to the house angrily and he asked Indira Gandhi,
"Is it this bomb is eatable?
Is it this is what you can do to your people?
Is it this ration is your meal that you used to eat"?
After the Air Operation has done successfully,Many innocent Mizo people were die,towns were completely demolished and a great famine started.
Continously,Indira Gandhi deployed Army and started Military Operation in a poor Mizoram with mercilessly and ruled over 20 years with military power. It was unforgettable and living scar forever.

Assam Rifles is just a central police force. Indian Army was not there directly. There was supply issue to Assam Rifles due to geographical location. That's why we made Pakistan army surrender with pant removal ceremony in Bangladesh 1971. 😂
Instead of waiting for the deployment of ground forces which might took several days it was very precise decision too protect the Assam Rifles GHQ Aizawl.... at any cost. It was part of the strategy to repel the rebels which comprised of mutinied soldiers of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles.
