Your ability to describe the important concerns as you demonstrate is so very helpful. Thank you for coming back. You have so much to contribute. I appreciate it so much.
Master Lin, I haven't thrown in about 8 years do to my last three fingers on both hands are numb, however I have a great desire to create again. I have watched a number of videos and I like yours the best because of your close connection to us and your explaining your moves. Thank you very much for lighting the fire in my soul to begin over:o)
You are a master!! Thanks for all your great videos and tips!! You have helped my throwing get sooo much better!! Especially your tips on using the slip instead of water with porcelain.. or any clay body for that matter. So much thinner and taller!! I sure wish I could get that upside down thumb pulling down!! Thanks again!
Hsin, Glad to see your videos. You look as great or better than always. I think we do not know how much we have evolved until we look back at where we started. You really make nice work Dude!..a fellow potter friend. Troy Meek
Excellent instruction, your best yet. Relieved to have you back! Is your sodium silicate diluted? Beautiful pot from a master's hand. Please keep them coming.
Silicate is used to cause the clay to crack.. When bisque fired the silicate burns out. My guess is that he used a black glaze waxed the rim and then wiped away the glaze on the belly of the pot. This would explain the black glaze in the cracks. When starting the cylinder i would make sure you have a consistent thickness. Your bottom will always be thicker for support. the belly of the pot is stretched gradually. When collaring in make sure you narrow the rim and support from the inside.
At you going to trim that ad is? It seems like using a chuck would ruin the crackle texture! But it also looks quite narrow at the top to trim without any support.
When I collar in, the inside wrinkles unevenly. Does that happen to you, and if so, how do you handle it? And since the center is stretched out so much more than the head and the foot, do you somehow push some clay onto the center while keeping the sides straight? Do you keep the center clay thick in anticipation of the stretch? Also, was the finished pot at the beginning of the video raku fired? Does the sodium silicate not pick up the effects of smoke? How come it's white?

Thanks, amazing as always! How thick are the walls of your pot before and after you stretch it out?
Thank you sir. I'm trying to get the potters at my studio to slow down their wheels and use less water.

How do you repair the small hole in center of bulge :) Fabulous work.
Muy bello eres excelente gracias
Sodium silicate does not burn off. It in fact is a very low fire glaze by itself.

Thank you so much
What shape is your hand while it is inside pushing out the cylinder?
do you prefer a heat gun (electric) or a torch (bottled gas)?
perfect
