Logan Hoomana yeah, but context matters. these guys have plenty of opportunities outside of the NBA to platform their (idiotic) opinions. and frankly, i don’t think the NBA should be giving exposure to the political opinions of people like Lebron, Kyrie Irving, and Steve Kerr who will make an effort to defend China while criticizing the US. that is morally and intellectually backwards. and all it does is anger people and make them want to take their money/viewership away. it’s bad for business, staying apolitical in the business world is common sense. and it’s kinda hard to be invested in a team or an athlete if you aren’t paying attention to them.

Keep pandering to moms who say it’s too aggressive/dangerous and your sports gonna die along with hockey it’s that simple I don’t wanna see 70 free throws a game and ejections for stare downs and love taps
Football IS dangerous. I'm pretty sure the injury rate is above 90% if I remember correctly. It's insanely high so I don't blame moms for saying no to their kids about playing the sport.
j0131 that’s weird logic. if you’re in a baseball game where someone hits the ball that hard, kids are pretty advanced by that point. And when has someone ever died in a baseball game? I’ve never heard of it and played through hs... but I digress-basketball is generally the most entertaining. Football is purely a gambling league
Correct. This is what happens when you build a league built around the individual. Nobody cares unless their getting a shoe contract or making big money. Sports league should be built around the team which makes the games way more interesting. 1 way you can tell is that the NBA plays no defense and is by far the worst defensive league of all the 3 big dogs. Why is that? Because defense doesnt sell. The individual only cares about himself and not the team.
@BoolishDumping BearishTitsPumping no he couldn't. it's not about the money. he has enough to buy one of the lower valued teams or any team with a team of investors. A team has to be for sale and the league has to approve him
BoolishDumping BearishTitsPumping He doesn’t want to because all the teams available in his net worth aren’t worth buying. He’s probably lose money buying an NFL team. He’s not stupid. Mark is only worth 4.1 billion. That’s worth not actual buying power. If he actually tried you’re looking at about half. So realistically he can buy a team for 2 Billion. The only teams he could buy are the Bills, Lions and Bengals... and that’s IF they sell for what Forbes has them at. Unless if the owner is outed by the league like the clippers, you’re paying much more than that.
Kevin Arzola yeah Mark Cuban could NOT buy an NFL team. There’s no way the NFL would approve him, AND he can’t afford any teams. Not only that but no teams are actively trying to sell.
@ ah yes when did he say that? just watch a single game and tell me the players arent trying to win. there are 40$ million dollar contracts on the line, you dont think they are trying? if you dont like the NBA thats fine, I dont watch every regular season game either, its just a dumb thing to say and annoys me cuz its so obviously not true
Levi people don’t run back on defense a fair amount every game. People sit and they don’t play back to back, because the regular season sucks. 95% of players scared to go for the block because they don’t wana get put on the meme on twitter.

A foul is a foul, and trust me when I tell you that the refs in the NBA call maybe 33% of them all. Personally I believe that the refs in the NBA are the worst in the entire world, but I get that they don't want to "interrupt" the flow of the game too much. Techs for starring downs are total BS, they really need to stop things like that, let the players do their thing and start calling the billion travels in each NBA game.

If anyone can argue this I will payyyyyyy you to do it, because I know I'm factually right and I don't see how more people don't realize this. The reason you don't see low seeds getting to the finals like baseball and hockey and football is because in all those sports, scoring depends on only a few plays. You can have a lucky game and make a few home runs or oh shit the goalie messed up and somehow u get a few lucky goals, the key here is luck plays a much bigger factor. You can't hide behind some lucky plays in basketball because if you make a lucky 3 pointer twice in a game, that's virtuously meaningless in the grand scheme of things, it comes down to who has a better gameplan, who plays better defence, who can score the ball better. That's why you see for the most part, especially in the playoffs, the better team will usually win, now stretch that over a 7 game series and you will almost always have the better team winning. The series is important because again, football is fun to watch as a one and done game, winner takes all thing, but that's also why you can have a lucky streak of a few games and suddenly you're playing in the super bowl.
Mark is right about much of this but in one premise he is mistaken: the fact that the NFL is one game a week to focus on and only 16 games a season makes a huge, huge difference in the interest in each game. This has always been true of those two sports.
blotter downey so the Suns without Westbrook and Capela are worse than the Suns? I know Westbrook was out. It was a back to back. The regular season isn’t important or he would have played. And you don’t lose by 36 to a bad team even if Harden AND Westbrook were out. They have a veteran team.
@@stevemygoodman7809 you're answering your own question. it was a back to back and they were missing one of their most important players. that helped them lose. has nothing to do with guys not playing hard. come on man
blotter downey back to back is not a big deal unless you don’t care about the game 100%. explain why Caruso with the Lakers looks like he plays harder than everyone else? If everyone plays at 100%, why is he always going harder than everyone else? I watched the Lakers last night and 9 minutes left in the 1st quarter, Lebron throws the ball up and just never went over half court. With 9 minutes left in the 1st! Come to little caesars arena in Detroit for a regular season pistons game. It is far from a “blast.” There’s more energy in local high school arenas. Still love Cuban but an NFL regular season game is a way better experience despite the greater cost
Went to a Vikings game then followed it up with a t wolves games couple years ago. NFL game was crazy. Everyone was into it the whole game. NBA game almost everyone there was on their phone and tons of empty seats
hi ali I have to disagree. I think this is more of a opinion, though I do respect yours and enjoy football. Just not as much as watching a good basketball game
I usually agree with Cuban, but he’s delusional here. NBA is hurting, stop lying to yourself. It’s still doing good but it’s declined this year. Also, him saying that Madden is dead and that you see no football on Instagram is just patently untrue. He probably just thinks that because he looks at more basketball content so that’s what he gets recommended.
Exactly, I don’t see any basketball on social media bc I don’t follow it or care. He prob follows or views basketball stuff and hence, gets tons of basketball content. Basic algorithm for social media lol
@@VetteWay2Fast he's not lying about the social media. you're more likely to see basketball on you're feed than football it just numbers and the numbers show that football players and football are not that popular a sport on social media in terms of engagement and following. He doesn't deserve it. It's got old 5 yrs ago. Anyone who actually watched basketball in the 90's these talking heads act like we don't have eyes. Like we forgot what we saw. You don't have to be a superfan to watch LeBron for 10 mins to watching Jordan for 10 mins. It's not even close.
I find the nfl more boring maybe cause my team just sucks but after 4 weeks the season means nothing anymore. At least in the nba their is still hope for a little longer
Skinny CourageJD Thats not true, hell just last year the steelers started off like 0-4 and then almost made the playoffs. They ended up losing their spot to the Titans but the Titans ended up taking out the 2 of the best teams in the league even though they had a 9-7 record
He is talking about sports in America, not worldwide. Yes Soccer/football is very popular outside of the US, but in the US you may as well forget about it.
The NBA is so stupid for not letting the local fans watch the games of their own team. I can't even name the starters on our team because they block all the games and won't let anyone see the games. They won't let the fans see the games. How are they supposed to get a fan following if they literally block the real fans from watching. WTF ?????? Televise the games locally so people can watch them. At least the away games.
That would mess up everything statistically wise. That would drive 90% of the ESPN "Analysts" nerds crazy cuz they look at a paper rather than watching a game. That's the problem with the new wave of the NBA. All the new players care more about triple doubles than getting a win.
Marks most solid point in this whole discussion came when he talked 2k vs Madden. And I thought “I’m playing a league RN in madden and haven’t played 2k in months.” I can’t name my Linemen in my league or on my second favorite team yea maybe the big ones but the O line unless it’s a big name or a punter I can’t name all the starters on most teams. Where I can on the NBA they make their players more noticeable and like in the NFL the helmets and way its presented prevent that where some of the non skill and flashy players don’t get noticed as much.
What... politics and sports have literally always been intertwined. Bill russel was a civil rights activist. Muhammed Ali had his damn boxing license revoked because he protested the Vietnam War by refusing to enlist. This is such an uninformed statement.

It's funny he said the NFL is only 12 minutes of watching. How's that different than the NBA? You only need to watch the last quarter of basketball, which is 12 minutes, because the first 36 minutes is them playing pick up basketball. Also average age of NFL fan is 50. Average NBA fan is 42. Cuban is full of shit. Wishes he owned an NFL team.
Everyone’s trashing the nba for whatever reason where as I just came back to the nba this year after like 5 years of just not caring about the league at all. The competitive spirit seems to have reached a new high with players giving it all in all games. When the warriors dominated the league I didn’t enjoy any of it.
As much as i like mark, the parts about other sports is just so untrue. The reason all he sees on his social media is basketball, is because thats what he follows the most (most likely being a the mavs owner). I follow hockey teams and highlights, i dont see any basketball or football. The algorithms for social media show you what you want to see.
When I moved to Maine, every other car had a Celtics sticker on it. Celtics games were broadcast regularly on local TV for free, and it were even rebroadcast after midnight. Now you have to be able to afford an option to watch them, you have to purchase that capability like you buy a car or something. Eighty percent of the people in this country live paycheck to paycheck, and an extra hundred bucks just to watch the Celtics is pretty extravagant.
I will use my country (Slovenia) as an example. We do have sports TV channels, but NBA games aren't bought any more because people didn't watch them enough and they are too expensive. Outside of that, games start when it's past midnight over here, so it's an unfortunate time zone, much like for the rest of Europe which is at least 5 behind East coast of USA. So the ratings are coming mostly from USA, Canada, China, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, etc. But not Europe, which is very big on basketball. Not to the extent of soccer, but it's still a big sport, and we just don't have the luxury of sitting down around midnight or 1 AM to watch an NBA game most likely on our tablets or computers through the League Pass.
Any sport has real fans and fake fans. I’m a Celtics fan and I’ve watched every single game this season. And a few other national games. I like watching the sport in general. Everyone who doesn’t care about regular season doesn’t really like basketball
Free Agency/Superteams are what hurt ratings imo. Fans are loyal to teams, but if all star players constantly switch teams every year then fans feel no connection or loyalty to them, even if theyre winning. Players before were always attached to a franchise, and would only leave through trades or after their prime. Now its just like street ball where you can switch teams after each game. Theres other reasons also, but i feel like thats a big one
Most exciting part of a NBA game is the last minute. You find out who wins the shootout. The rest of the game is irrelevant because theres no defense basically teams just scoring back and forth. Its like watching the basketball version of the Arena Football league.
i cant watch an entire NBA game anymore, probably only if it's a playoffs game with 2 top teams, i didn't even watch the highlights of allstar, just so boring.
Every time I watch a Mark Cuban interview it amazes me on how he knows things that I never thought he would know like this guy actually knows about I Ballislife
Big Chungus they aren’t really a solely western league they are a smalller part of a global league. Plus it’s a league that builds off another league. I was talking more about solely independent leagues. Such as liga mx or nhl etc. I view champions as more of a super playoff then it’s own league per say.
The highlights/social media is also what's leading to the demise of watching full games. Games have transitioned more to either 3 pt shot or dunk. It feel like more plays are being built to make a highlight reel versus watching team play. So you can argue what's better, but at this point most fans skip the game to watch the highlights, so they just need to find a way to monetize that.
Its declining cuss of how the game is fixed so the big market teams always get in. and people are tired of the NBA as it is now. 90's was the best for NBA.
90s was just Jordan. The league almost died after Jordan. Despite Kobe and shaq together ratings didn’t even come close to Jordan in the finals. The league didn’t fully recover after Jordan until lebron went to miami
tHE ONLY WAY i WOULD RETURN AND START WATCHING THE nba IS IF : 1 aDAM sILVER IS FIRED 2 Michael Jordan becomes the commissioner 3 Minnesota gets back the name Lakers with the 5 rings . 4 LA remains purple and gold keeps 13 rings assumes the name KINGS 5) Sacramento would be renamed to the Embarcaderos . Which was the original name in 1850. Also 1st overall draft pick and 1st option on LBJs contract, since his contract expires after next year.
To say the nfl only has 12 minutes of action but also act like all 48 minutes of an NBA game are meaningful action is just disingenuous. Bringing the ball up the court isn't exciting, dribbling in place isn't exciting.
NFL is just way more entertaining... you literally cant predict it vs the NBA we all know LeBron is going to the finals this year and probably going to have a whole Kobe moment passing the torch type of thing.. either way RIP Mamba
Most years in the NFL you can predict the Patriots going to the super bowl, the Browns, Lions, Buccaneers, Raiders, Dolphins and the Jaguars all stinking, and the Cowboys failing to get to the super bowl and you would be right.
Mark is either in denial or imitating someone currently in office. The NBA doesn't compare at all with the NFL. The last 4 minutes of an NBA game is the only time there is enough effort to even make it almost interesting. The NFL is a chess match from start to finish and 1 play at anytime can be the difference in a game.
Saucy McSqueeze yeah, no shit thats not the only way basketball is being played... but watch the 2014 spurs and watch a team like the Dallas Mavs right now and tell me you think the current style of basketball is more entertaining
A lot of people have said they only watch the last quarter in NBA games, not sure what he's talking about. Where they'll watch the whole football game.
There's too many games in an NBA season. Second round of playoffs is when I start watching. Plus, you already know there's only 6 teams that have a chance at being in the finals. There's never a Cinderella team or a big upset. Lakers, clippers, Rockets, Bucks, and 2 other teams that wont win the ring. Just get to the playoffs already, we already know who's gonna be there after the first 10 games of the season.
@@matthewmccarthy4152 I'm not saying 2K doesn't sell well. But its naive to say that MLB the show and Madden dont have large player bases. MLB is currently exclusive to 1 console and happens to be one of the best sports games in terms of gameplay/content
@@CaptShatner I don't doubt MLB game is great but owners like Cuban look at #s. And NBA2k crushes MLB. Mainly cause NBA is global. MLB is not. It'll pay in the future. I credit FIFA as the reason I became a soccer fan.
Agreed with Cuban with everything except for video games. They’ve started doing “ultimate teams” for all sports. So for the people watching others on streams, their watching others to see who they pick up and add to their team. Then if they work the viewers go out and get these”silver or bronze” players that may not be that well known but are because their good at the position or work for the cap. Cuban is smart, but these sports teams know what their doing. As well as the gaming industry too.
WHat is this guy talking about whenhe says you only have to watch 12 mins of an NFL game... I dont understand that... In the NBA, all you gotta do is watch the final 5 mins... People watch the NBA solely becuz of betting, other than that, no one cares... That is why the ratings are terrible, no one cares about 98% of the teams in the League.. There is a reason why the League puts LBJ in the Finals every year
I have always hated that 12 minutes of action point, the entire game is worth watching, the entire game is engaging, especially when you understand all the little things taking place from one play to the next to see how an offense and defense scheme against one another to try and force the other teams hand. It's very much so a chess match and just because chess isn't as face paced as checkers doesn't make it less enjoyable. Different strokes for different folks.
NFL is superior to NBA. The 12 minutes thing couldn't be more false if anything Basketball you could watch the last five minutes and be satisfied The difference in score doesn't vary that much.
It’s one of those technically true things that is completely irrelevant to the point they are making. There is literally 12 minutes of “action” from snap to whistle each nfl game. Cuban conflates that with not exciting or whatever he thinks. The nba is almost never exciting for 48 minutes. I think all sports are only exciting if the stakes are high or if the game is close near the end.

Big Kat is spot on. NBA players play at 60-80% effort on a good night. Maybe 100% with 6 minutes to go.

10 teams in playoffs in baseball, 12 in football, but there are 16 in basketball. The lowest teams are more likely to be worse on that basis alone.

He’s talking about actual social media metrics not just his personal Twitter feed.

That doesn't make sense that Kobe dying make's you not want to watch basketball. He has been retired for 4 years.
i cant watch an entire NBA game anymore, probably only if it's a playoffs game with 2 top teams, i didn't even watch the highlights of allstar, just so boring.
I never knew there’s only 12 minutes of action in the NFL 🤦🏾♂️
same as baseball. I think there like only 16 minutes of action.
Every time I watch a Mark Cuban interview it amazes me on how he knows things that I never thought he would know like this guy actually knows about I Ballislife
the nfl is the largest and most watched league in the Western Hemisphere.
thats just not true, champions league draws in more viewers
Big Chungus they aren’t really a solely western league they are a smalller part of a global league. Plus it’s a league that builds off another league. I was talking more about solely independent leagues. Such as liga mx or nhl etc. I view champions as more of a super playoff then it’s own league per say.
Big Chungus He said Western Hemisphere... As in not including Europe, Asia, or Africa.
NBA and nfl are both entertainment industries now. No defense and champions are based on ratings. Mlb is heading that way too.
Yeah MC is a just living in his own little world.
NY would disagree
The only way to fix the nba now is to take away the 3 point line
The NBA is the WORST regular season product.
Nope...baseball is
@@afreezy928 nope he was right watch those guys play defense they dont care.
I love baseball and I can assure you baseball has became god awful
It's hard to watch a game that's fixed by the refs for the mobs to cash in on bets
7:46 describes me exactly. No cable or network TV but still watch every laker game using _other_ means 😉
Mark Cuban looks like he’s aged 20 year in the last year.
Lol Lebron sucks. Gonna look like a fool when he gets bounced in the second round.
@@seabass22 not gonna happen lol
Most years in the NFL you can predict the Patriots going to the super bowl, the Browns, Lions, Buccaneers, Raiders, Dolphins and the Jaguars all stinking, and the Cowboys failing to get to the super bowl and you would be right.
Mark is either in denial or imitating someone currently in office. The NBA doesn't compare at all with the NFL. The last 4 minutes of an NBA game is the only time there is enough effort to even make it almost interesting. The NFL is a chess match from start to finish and 1 play at anytime can be the difference in a game.
both leagues want scoring... however the nfl has creativity with its offenses, while the nba has one pass shoot three
that's not even close to reality
You're an idiot if you really think its just one pass and 3. Do you even know basketball?
The only thing the NBA and NFL have in common is having biased rulebooks that favor offense.
Hmmm.. And politics no?
Thats what pushed me off
There's too many games in an NBA season.
"Who's playing MLB? Who's playing Madden?"
Cuban needs to check his numbers

@@matthewmccarthy4152 that's because 2k is a competent company just look at madden vs nba live if 2k made a football game it would kill so...
@@matthewmccarthy4152 I think you underestimate the global reach of baseball.
This guy is delusional 😂
“This guy” is one of the richest people in the world lmao he knows what he’s taking about or he wouldn’t be there
WHat is this guy talking about whenhe says you only have to watch 12 mins of an NFL game... I dont understand that... In the NBA, all you gotta do is watch the final 5 mins... People watch the NBA solely becuz of betting, other than that, no one cares... That is why the ratings are terrible, no one cares about 98% of the teams in the League.. There is a reason why the League puts LBJ in the Finals every year
6:54 Hongkong would disagree
Baseball is the same thing. 12-18 minutes of actual action.
