68 and all my life I wanted straight hair. I was envious of all my straight haired friends and at the age of 60 started having keratin/organic hair straighteners! I've been ecstatic ever since - life changing.
I just found this video. I literally just lifted my lashes and started scrolling when I found this. My brows are not thick either, but part of them are kind of wild, so I thought I'd give it a try. I have the plastic wrap on right now. I am sure it will work because my lashes worked. I'd love to have these processes professionally done, but I can't afford that. So DIY is the way to go. I do my own nails, too. 😁
Update: I just completed my lamination. It seems to have worked fine, EXCEPT for one thing. I tinted my brows a few days ago, and the lamination took ALL the color out! 😢 From what I'm reading I have to wait at least 48 boys before redoing the tint. So disappointed in that. Just got my lashed lifted and brows laminated, and now I can't even see my brows because they are almost transparent and sparse. I guess a little patience and I'll retint them. Maybe I'll tint my lashes then. Vanity... what a pain! 😊
Ahhhhh, yes....being an 80’s teenager, I remember my mom perming my hair at home. The smell was horrible! Had to open every window in the house! And live with the rotten egg smell in my hair for 24 hours! I don’t miss that at all! Glad everything turned out well, Gemma! You are very brave! Hugs!❤️😁
O gosh Gemma, you are a hoot, I almost choked on my coffee. I've never heard of this before, not 100% certain if I liked the end result, that is only because I really am a boring old fart and an elf eyebrow pencil and a benefit brow thing are really as adventurous as these brows get. I really need my eyebrows tinted (could you do a video or Instagram TV to show one how to tint our sparse eyeslugs). For some weird reason my eyebrows have become really bleached from the sun, and this has never happened before. Enjoy the rest of your week Gemma. Stay bonkers, safe and healthy xx
You know, Gemma, when you were smiling that tiny little bit at the camera and going on about being a neglected child, you have to know we were all smiling right back at you. Well, at least I was. You are so adorable. All the cool girls might have had permed hair, but everyone seriously must have wanted to be your friend. ❤️
I am thrilled to see this video and can't believe I never thought to do my brows. I have been perming and tinting my own lashes for many years and always have the products on hand. As I've gotten older, I have been bitching because my brow hairs want to stick straight out and I never thought about putting the perm stuff on them. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you ... going to try it now 😊
Oh Gemma, I'll treated child!! I have had curly hair all my life and in the 70's and 80"s there were not good hair products like today. I wanted straight hair so badly! I guess we always want what we dont have! You are adorable!!
First off, you had me cracking up! Secondly, I was surprised to see how full your natural brows looked. I thought they looked AMAZING. Thanks for "taking one for the team" and showing us this process. I may very well give this a try. 👍👀
Good Germa, you really made me laugh on these boring days! I really appreciate it and your brows looked really nice! Thank you and hope everyone is well at home. 😘
I never heard of this procedure! I wish the hairs on my eyebrows were thicker and I manage to fill in and they look natural but I am not sure I would ever do this. I remember having a perm when I was younger and amazed that I did them, thanks for a very creative video!
Gemma, you should thank your mother for saving you from the horror of having old pictures of yourself with permed hair. It is amazing what we women will do for beauty's sake! You are one brave woman.🙌🙌 (Just think about how much money you are saving😊)
I’m not sure I should like this!! You’re bad enough without me encouraging you 😂 laughed at your perm story! I have curly hair and spend hours trying to get it poker straight! I enjoyed this, will never do it but I enjoyed it!!
Yes, well, I am so sorry for your abusive childhood, however, yours was nothing compared to mine!! I was not allowed to cut bangs!!!! Can you imagine? I mean what is a perm compared to having bangs!!? I just want you to know that this is my favorite of your videos!!! I watch because I love watching makeup videos, but I watch you because it is always so much fun. You are my daily laugh. And, for this 77-year-old that is a big deal. My little logo circle has changed to suit my videos about cats, so maybe you don't recognize me. But it is the same old crazy cat lady. Thank you for all of the fun today. (I am obsessed with eyebrows!)
Great video, your eyebrows look great. I might have to try this. Just to make you feel better, I got a perm when I was at school and absolutely hated it! I cried for weeks afterwards, so the grass isn’t always greener, trust me x
This was all new to me as well. A very entertaining video too! I swear you didn't miss much not getting perms...I'm so happy they're not in style now! I have stick straight hair also. Happy to read the lash lift was a success also!
I had to google what brow laminating was!!! I LOVE the result on you! Mine are so fair they are practically invisible. Your mum wouldn't allow you to perm your hair whereas mine refused to let me use dry shampoo. I was caught up in a Sweet Valley High fugue and if it was good enough for the Wakefield twins, I wanted some of that! Also - keeping your brows/perm dry for 24 hours - didn't that win Reese Witherspoon her court case in Legally Blonde?
First, I have never heard of this before. Very interesting. Second, I think Saran Wrap was the original brand of cling wrap and that's why people still refer to it that way. Third, I had a perm in high school, it was horrible. You need to thank your mother.
Is there no chance of you ever doing a at home eyelash lift tutorial? I love your eyelash lift and really would like your advice and tips on how to do it properly, I can't have it done in the salons as I freak out having both eyes closed (stupid anxiety issues) so at home would be ideal for me. Loving the other tutorials 😊
My mom let me use my babysitting money to buy myself a perm in the late 80s. I have naturally curly hair to begin with so I really didn't do myself any favors. You didn't miss anything, trust me. Thanks for the laugh at myself. I had almost forgotten. ♡
Gemma, be glad your mom said no to the perms. My mom was a beautician in her early life & my sister and I were her perm guinea pigs! I hated the smell, the sting, & worse of all the BRILLO PAD look. We had afros before they were popular.
Nice job, Gemma! And, yes, here in the US we have Saran Wrap brand, although many people call any cling wrap Saran Wrap. Just a short cultural lesson for you. 😊
WOW, the result is pretty flipping great. I haven't seen this done before, so watching you was an education. Did you do your lashes? I couldn't go near mine, given the risks involved. Hope you're ok. 💗💗💗💗💗 Btw, I set off laughing again when you donned the cling film "head piece", my stomach is soar, cheers 😂😂😂😂😂
Haha! I looked ridiculous but both brow lift and lash lift were successful. As I'm wearing no makeup at the moment though I really could do with tinting my lashes so i can see the effect without mascara xxx
Gemma, be thankful you never had a home perm. My curly, wavy, colicky hair was wild and hard to control so every couple of years my Mom would try another kind of home perm on it in futile hope that it could be tamed. I looked like a blonde Little Orphan Annie. 😟 Thankfully my brows don't need this procedure, however, but they and my lashes need COLOR. They're pretty much see-through. 😄
Thanks for the video! I didn't see anyone I follow doing this and I was interested since i have some stif hairs, which won't lay down nicely, so I thought it might be for me. I already dye my brow hairs and I was using oil from time to try soften them, but it didn't work very good:D
Hi Gemma.... Saran Wrap is a popular name brand of plastic cling wrap in the US. I would never have the patience for this procedure but I do like the outcome. Also, I have board straight hair and have had several perms but never truly been happy with any. Honestly, it always looks like fake curls to me (of course it is) and I never felt comfortable with them. I would kill for a natural wave or a bit of bounce but nope... Flat and smooth. Peace love and happiness!
I tried the exact same lash lift kit and it proper messed me lashes up they were pointing all directions next time I will be sure to tale my time and get the lashes were I want them b4 putting perm stuff on💖
I felt you could see me laughing 😂😂😂😂. Obviously, you were seriously ill treated as a teen, I mean, no perm!! Good on ya Jan, I'm in the same camp as you. No perks, no highlighting and no dyes. Yes my daughter was ill treated too. Still laughing, sat in the back garden, wearing headphones. I'm ill now! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Boredom drives us to do interesting things. I've given myself permanent lash extensions! Lol. Is love to do this to my brows, but my pathetic brows don't have enough to perm lol. Thanks for the chuckles💘

Hey Gemma :-))) looks good :-)) I had a perm years ago and i had it for 3 years all in and i could not wait to grow it out and use a brush to brush my hair ha ha ha. oxoxoxox
I used this kit and got a chemical burn on the skin around and under my eyebrows so be careful if anyone’s going to try it my eyebrows have only just recovered after about 3 weeks definitely won’t be doing it again myself
I laughed so hard at you girl! Such a poor, neglected young girl you were!! I had curly hair and wanted straight hair. I especially hated my wavy bangs, so even ironed them flat. But no use, by the end of my school day, they were curly! We always want what we can’t have!
Wow, you are extremely brave, Gemma 😱! But....good job. I'm really curious what Jan is says, when she sees this video 😉....Her daughter is naughty 😂. Tells everyone what a horrible time she had in her teens without a perm and now she is going to make herself blind 😳. So so funny Gemma!!! Thanks! Love, hugs and kisses Sabine 😘 Hi Jan! You have a wonderful daughter and she a lovely mother. 😘
I have literally never heard of anyone doing this to their eyebrows before. I am just confused as to why you would want them to stick straight up and spikey like instead of going to the side a little since that is how they naturally grow. It makes it look like you have a constant surprised look on your face. Not criticizing just confused.
It just makes your eyebrows look fuller and fluffier when they are filled. I love the finished look. You don't exactly stick then straight up, they do go diagonally. It's just the front hairs that I like to stick on end. I certainly know that this won't be the preferred look for everyone. xxx
@@PamperedWolf believe me when you get to mid 50's you get fluffy eyebrows naturally 😂. Yup its a fashion like the really dark thick eyebrows of 2 years ago. I prefer a slightly darker but natural shaped look. Each to their own.
@@zenabraithwaite1934 Yep, I'm in my 60s & I have what I call "old man" eyebrows. They stick straight up & look awful. I have to trim them & tint them. I have more white/gray than brown brow hair.
I had no idea you had been so mistreated as a child - no-one should have to go through that!!!! Ex-hairdresser of a certain age here, so very familiar with a perm smell! Can't wait to see your eyelashes with the lift (if you actually go through with it!). Yes, Saran Wrap is a brand name cling film here in the US. Question for Jan - has she ever tried the LookFabulousForever brand of cosmetics in the UK? If so, I'm wondering what she thought and if not, whether you could use it on her and let us know the results. Thanks!!
Well I never! Never heard of this trickery. When you mentioned “perm lotion” I sat open mouthed thinking why would anyone want to curl their eyebrows????? A perm to me means curls 😂😂 I’m 56 and my eyebrows are white, long and stick out in all directions. Like on old worn toothbrush!!! The hairs at the outside edge of my brows stick out 90 degrees to my skin and nothing will flatten them lol. Very interesting video but not sure I can be bothered faffing around with perm lotion. I still don’t know what the reason for this is? To straighten the hairs, to curl them, to set them in place, to make them thicker ?????
Wow Gemma, I hope you do not do your lashes! PERM! As the older sister of a blonde blue eyed girl with naturally curly hair, I've had more perms than I count, starting at about age 5. My hair was very dark, very straight and very smooth and did not take to being permed very well. At least with your hair you could predict what it would like in the morning. I never knew what mine would look like! Sometimes the first shampoo took the whole thing out, not a curl in sight. Other times, one side looked good but the other not so much. It took many years before my mom and I realized that my hair was just fine as it was.
Sorry Gemma, I managed a sip of wine 🍷 which immediately cleared my nostrils I laughed so hard!! I wish I could grow brows as back in the day the rage was to thin them out to nothing and nothing is what I’ve been left with, very jealous of yours, however, I did get a perm and you should thank Jan on bended knees she wouldn’t let you get one! Do it Gemma do it now 😬🙄😂🤣
Yikes! Sounds scary. Just your intro blew any thought of doing this right out of my head. Microblading is as radical as I am willing to go. Are you doing your lashes?
You were just born at the wrong time Gemma. I have curly hair and when in high school straight hair was the rage. Some people even ironed their hair! I wasn’t going to do that so I went to Bed with Giant curlers on in an attempt to smooth mine. So, sorry you were not born 25 years earlier.
That is not a professional kit lol, thats a cheapie from amazon where all the brands use the same packaging from the same factory just a different name on them
You are historical. Love your ideas for content. Hysterical was the word but spell ck must think you’re historical and I agree. Stay put stay safe.💕💕😂😘

At least with your hair you could predict what it would like in the morning. I never knew what mine would look like! Sometimes the first shampoo took the whole thing out, not a curl in sight. Other times, one side looked good but the other not so much. It took many years before my mom and I realized that my hair was just fine as it was.
I want to hear Jan’s side of the story. Lol.
Next, we'll do a self tattoo of a budgie. Kidding. Couldn't help myself.
That's an idea 😁🤣
Lv it 💖
Well it's a new one on me.. but I am a bit behind the times. Never seen or heard of this before-is it only me that knows nothing about this???🤔🤔
you are not alone. I had never heard of laminating of eyebrows, let alone eyelashes, before this video.
I’m hysterical. No perm. What was your mum thinking. Lol. Call social services someone
Do it Gemma do it now 😬🙄😂🤣
Does your Mum know you’re doing this? Next urge, jog around your house several hundred times till it goes away.🤪
No she didn't know....but she does now, and even if she had known before I did it, she probably wouldn't have been shocked 🤣
Just an FYI...Saran wrap is a brand name of plastic film in the US. 😂
That's what I used....thanks for clarifying xxx
Have you ever lifted /curled your own eyelashes with one of those kits? :-)
I did that the same day x
When I do a lash lift I do one eye at a time. Time-consuming... but not as scary! lol
That's exactly what I did xxx
@@PamperedWolf 👍❤️
Yikes! Sounds scary. Just your intro blew any thought of doing this right out of my head. Microblading is as radical as I am willing to go. Are you doing your lashes?
I've done my lashes and they look fab. Really need to tint them now though as you can't see the effects properly without mascara xxx
🤣🤣🤣 you are hilarious! I know what you mean about mean mums 🤣🤣🤣 my mum was really tight too 😘😘 wouldn't have it any other way 😙😙
Never heard of this 😳
( I'm mentally gearing up to colour my hair 😏)
Neglected child ; "let's move on" 😂
Naughty girl and I won’t tell my optician husband 😲😲😲😲
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Haha! Fun video. :)
That is not a professional kit lol, thats a cheapie from amazon where all the brands use the same packaging from the same factory just a different name on them
BTW perms are comin back peeps.....just sayin x
That ship has sailed for me. I know a lot of boys that are now having perms but I'm not keen xxx
I clicked on this bc I’ve never heard of this....
You are historical. Love your ideas for content. Hysterical was the word but spell ck must think you’re historical and I agree. Stay put stay safe.💕💕😂😘
I know you are bored but you have done this as a joke, right? Plus, not being allowed a perm is Abuse, plain and simple. 🤪🤪😂😂
