So infuriating to hear that people there are abusing you just because you cannot turn down dogs in need.
It is such a shame. He is so full of life and love and is obviously very energetic and wants to run and play. A strong boy indeed. A man's dog and he could be a really good friend for someone.

I'm so worried for him. He is beautiful and smart but being there will destroy his beautiful nature. The people in your country that allow a dog to breed needs to be fined or put in jail. This animal breeding and dumping needs to be stopped. Good luck Takis but you are one beautiful person and your beautiful island is smothered with crappy ones. Change the people and your beautiful dogs will not be their trash.

Takis is telling exactly how it is. The big boy is definitely from a home. It is hard to bring a new dog in to an established group. Fights happen so fast. Then things get out of hand and everybody fights each other. It can be very hard to keep control. I respect you so much because I've been there. The really unfortunate fact is Takis that you are the only place to care for the dogs. Until people learn responsibility and compassion it will not change. It's not right. None of it is. Humans are a despicable species. Please someone take this beautiful boy. 🐾❤️🌹

It was the lady that brought the dog there who was lying. Takis knew this right from the bat. The dog was so familiar with that lady, and she knew him too, but not just for 1 week as she claimed. So Takis was trying to talk sense into her, but the lady did not care, at all. Her sympathies were just faked. So she extorted him, in case he wasn't complying, she said she was going to dump the dog somewhere.
Poor Takis, sometimes I think people rely on Takis instead of solving a dog problem themselves (and I don't mean killing them).
It's not the only place. There is also Jutta shelter and Souda shelter. We should support them too so that there is more space for dogs and cats.

For example the students from Chania, they build dog houses in the campus and feed several animals, dogs and cats. In Rhethymno some shop owners adopted cats from the streets, they are fixed now, wear collars and have food and water. The problem is the number of cats and dogs, like in Turkey. All of them should get fixed! But who is controlling it?

Takis you are-right, people lie and say anything to get rid of animals. I’m a volunteer at my local shelters and they lie here to. They say they found a stray or even crazier, they leave the gate open so the dog can run away. Shame!

There are not so many people who are able to adopt such a big dog. Even Beauty is still not adopted and the big "bears", the rottweilers. There are several big dogs in the shelters.

Great day for you! It's really difficult to put a new animal together with the others, I've helped animals for years and I know how it is, fights and even death from fights occur if we neglect for a minute!!! He has a lot of energy and is very happy, but he can hurt other smaller dogs even when playing, he's a big baby 😍, but as always you're the one to solve it ✨️ God bless Takis a lot❤

Er ist groß und schwarz, diese Hunde haben es in der Vermittlung schwer. Es gibt Menschen, die vor solchen Hunden Angst haben, weil sie in ihren Augen gefährlich wirken. Es ist ein dummer Gedanke, aber so ist es. Große und schwarze Hunde haben wenig Chancen, weil viele Menschen ihnen gegenüber intolerant sind. Liebe Grüße

Most people are inherently selfish and self-serving. They get on RUclips and act like they're the hero for turning over an animal to Takis. They say ""we already have ONE dog." Well Takis has FIVE HUNDRED. They smile for the camera, and coo at the animal and act like they can't part from it. It's always give it to Takis, he'll take care of, he won't say no. These people make me ill.
You must learn to say the word "no." For the sake of the hundreds of dogs you already have. Please protect the animals you have. It was clear that this dog belonged to that woman. She should be ashamed. Dogs are forever, not just when it's convenient.

yep Takis showing us all the reality of life in the shelter. im glad he did. working with dogs takes alot of time and responsibility. you dont just adopt one and think that's enough. you dont just throw one into a shelter and think youve done your part.

Exactly what I thought since a long time. When this lady brought him and touched his mouth to show the teeth.... It looks like she knew what she is doing. My first thought was... It's her dog and she needs or want to give him away. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how it felt.
Yes! Many of us know this is the reality. She made up stories to get rid of him finding excuses protesting too much 🤔
He is absolutely fine, just high energy level, he would a perfect match for someone out there who loves the outdoors take him on trip, go jogging, swimming, exploring.
He seems to be intelligent and inquisitive

I hear what you say. That lady who said she found the big black dog was not telling the truth. Looked too well fed and healthy and not scared. I think she just couldn’t handle him any more, too strong. She was surrendering him to you without being honest. I wish people wouldn’t do that. It’s dishonest and hard on you.
Der neue große Hund will nicht eingesperrt sein, das merkt man 😢 er leidet. Er braucht unbedingt ein Zuhause mit viel Platz, einem großen Grundstück, wo er frei sein kann. Takis versucht sein bestes aber nicht jeder Hund ist dafür gemacht 😕 ich hoffe, Diaz findet ein tolles Zuhause 🙏❤🍀

Absolutely Agree, really all our governments should step up for the stray animals. Shopping for "pets" should no longer be an option. Unfortunately breeders often line pockets of politicians. At least they do in the US. Uncontrolled breeding for profit or exploration is definitely at the route of the problem. Also, honestly, people should have to Spay and Nuter. It should be mandatory. I have the strangest feeling that the new boy belongs to the lady who brought him there. He was too familiar with her and she was crying when she had to leave him. She said she had to travel and perhaps she had no one to leave him with so she opted for kind hearted Takis. What a situation!🐾🐕

If you can't find a space for this sweet, energetic dog, maybe one of your wonderful fosters will take him in for you. I think it's good you're showing us all how much work this really does take to make sure not only are the dogs happy but kept safe too! Hoping people will see that you can't be the savior of all the animals on the island, others need to step in too 🙂
People always tend to take the path of least resistance. Or in this case, the path that causes them the least effort. It's not the poor dog's fault. It is his nature, he is strong, he is young, he is active and has a great urge to move. He needs a home with plenty of space and exercise, and people who can handle him, who know what to expect when they adopt him.

If people insist on dropping off their unwanted dogs to Takis, at the least they could be regular donations or provide all the dogs sustaince.
They run Takis ragged..so he should close his gates and have cameras...because like he said...they'll keep coming, they don't care about Takis stress.

Takis got it absolutely straight, I thought the same.
The big dog - Takis is calling him Diaz - was obviously totally familiar with that woman whereas she claimed she only met him 1 week ago. She did not mind what Takis was saying to her. She simply wanted to dump the dog in his shelter, for she knew he would be safe there and Takis is taking care of the dog, while she did not care about the fact that Takis is totally over the limits.
Takis knew she lied right from the bat, so he wanted to take sense into that lady, but she did not mind, at all. All she wanted was to get rid of the dog, so the best solution was Takis, and in case he was not agreeing with it, she extorted him by saying she releases the dog somewhere if Takis will not take him.
Genauso ist es und nicht anders. Und für diese Art Erpressung müsste die Frau bestraft werden.

Tierhaltung müsste unter den gleichen strengen Auflagen wie Adoption liegen, dann gäbe es diese Hunde- und Katzenplagen in Griechenland und anderen Ländern gar nicht erst, weil dann nicht gar nicht erst so viele Tiere ausgesetzt werden könnten, und die Leute sich nicht wahllos Haustiere als Kinderersatz anschaffen könnten.

He's such a handsome boy! He needs to live on a farm where he can run and play! If he's trained, he might make a good search/rescue dog! He appears to have been with other dogs because he isn't aggressive, but knows how to behave. Let's keep our fingers crossed that someone will give him a home soon! ❤❤💕
I have a farmer in the family. When he wanted a new dog I begged him to take one from the local shelter and he did. Farmers from other countries don't have the time to go to Greece. It would be great to have more foster families, especially some in Switzerland. Maybe you can make some advertisement for fostering?

Everyone can see what a problem this new dog is. It's not the dogs fault, but it's still a problem. Intervention between large dogs aggressive with another is dangerous. So unfortunate that people dump the result of their poor irresponsible decisions on the sanctuary. Takis cannot save the world's neglected, injured, damaged, pregnant homeless dogs of the world.
