Get yourself a pepper spray, if you want a non lethal option. It`s cheaper, lighter, smaller and more effective. And if somebody attacks you, he is usually an arms length away.
Thanks Ron! I am torn between a tool like that and a pepper spray for non-lethal defense. Great presentation and evaluation. I wouldn't want to be hit by either but the flashlight option looks better.
Awesome video as always Ron! Honestly though, very gimmicky.... You won't stop an assailant with one of those. A mag light and a real can of pepper spray would be way more realistic.
The world is not only USA! There are lots of countries which don't allow firearms, so non- lethal defence tools, martial arts and watchdogs are the only options.
I carry a gun(s) but my teenaged kids can’t. A Tippman Tipx loaded with alternating pepper balls and rubber coated steel balls (68 caliber) is at least something they can carry in the car in case of a breakdown. In addition to pepper spray, knife, and club.
Interesting option that might need more development. Pepper spray is more intuitive for me. But with a better aiming system, smaller and more shots it shows some potential as a good non lethal defense tool. Thanks for the video!
To me, the air leak down is a big no. I don't know if you mentioned it, but if it's only good to shoot with the cap freshly turned down into place, it might as well be a cap and ball gun complicated that you have to load before going into a questionable area. Maybe do a test to see by shooting it once and store it for a week, and take it out to see how much speed the second shot goes. Baseline leak down figured, do a fresh never shot cap crank down and store it for two months. If it shoots as fast as fresh, then there is not problem as I saw it.
The CO2 cartridge doesn't get pierced until the first trigger push. So it won't leak down spontaneously. Once pierced, the CO2 should be used that day or tossed out. They cost about $0.50 each for 12g or a little more for 8g in the Lifelite Mobile version, so really not an issue.
Hi there thanks for the video. As for self defence looks cumbersome and totally unpractical, i can see the assailant laughing 😆 grabbing it off you and hitting you over the head with it. Thanks again Ron 👍
@@RonSpomerOutdoors you certainly have to!!! Betsy shined bright and you relived your adventures as great as your pen (or type writer) makes you great!!!
Your video popped up in my recommended section and I enjoyed your review. Byrna makes a great Kinetic Launcher and is the only company that sells Pepperball rounds in California because they worked with the state to allow residents to take the BSIS Chemical Agent Certification exam and once passed, we can legally buy and use them here. I spent 6 months talking to other companies and none of them had any plans to sell their Pepperball products here in California which is unfortunate because they would sell tens of thousands of units easily since guns are almost impossible to legally purchase for the last 3 years as gun manufacturers don't want to do business with California because of the ridiculous number of gun laws we have here. You can actually buy a gun and a year later find it's now illegal to own that model of gun or rifle.
Well, Ron, it would be nice if we never had to consider this but it's the times we live in. I fall on the side of carrying a gun. Those two items are just plan bulky and that Combo light laser and ball launcher seems to be very difficult to operate, and I think more so under stress. I think a good old can of bear spray would be a better option along with the flashlight you should have when walking around in the dark. I can see myself explaining to a CT State Trooper where I live: Officer Dan: Mr. George why did you hose down Skippy with a whole can of bear spray? Well, Officer Dan, Skippy was trying to relieve me of the 20 I just took out of the ATM! Somehow I still think I will be talking to a judge never the less. Good one Ron, I know this is stuff you don't normally address.
Obviously these devices are for folks who can't carry firearms or don't want the responsibility, etc. Dif. strokes for dif. folks. The fact taht many police carry pepper ball launchers suggests they can work to dissuade or disable.
The Pepperball Mobile looks very much like the original Taser. I would not recommend either to my loved ones. The pistol version could be considered as a less lethal option for law enforcement, and the coloring would help keep the user from discharging the "wrong" weapon (even though it still happens). Law enforcement operates under different rules, an apprehension usually occurs after such encounters, whereas private citizens don't have that responsibility. Law enforcement also has the lethal option, which private citizens have as well, but carrying multitudes of weapons is not always practicable for the private citizen. The KeepItSimpleStupid method is best, use your best tool, your brain, to try and avoid confrontations and keep the highly effective, but not always lethal firearm/blade(an unfired, yet deployed, firearm is a great deterrent, same for a knife), for the unavoidable. Neat demonstration.
Any real-world testimonials about the effectiveness of the TCP against dog attacks? (like maybe a put bull sized dog). Or would bear spray canisters be a better option?
There are a few reviews on amazon that say it was effective against large dogs. Honestly, I'd go for Halt! dog spray. Ive used it in at least 8 or 9 dog attacks, and it's worked every time except 1, plus its under $10.

I would never rely on that for self defense. Those balls are sensitive to temperture and humidity. The dispertion on the balls breaking is not that good. If I were not carring a fire arm it would be a knife, or at least a cane.
Pepper spray isn't a bad idea. Not every self defense scenario requires lethal force. I think a small pocket carried canister is vastly superior to these devices, but I don't discount pepper spray as a defensive tool.
Ron doesn’t seem to have much experience with air guns!!! I’ve never gotten full power on first shot on my Benjamin marauder .25 caliber!!! The 3rd to 5th shot is usually the most powerful. The reason is the pressure and air already in the gun slows down the O ring opening. The idea of having to dry fire to obtain full power is an issue of air guns that cannot be overcome!!!
