So fabulous ... I also fell in love with the Highlands on my first ever visit last April. I live in the Western Cape, South Africa, and nowhere else in the UK has made me feel so at home. My heart sang all the way from start to finish. Wonderful to revisit via your video. Have to return!!!

Best 2 videos on the NC500 I’ve seen so far, and I’ve watched a lot. All content is information.
None of the “this is my van” “this my vegan breakfast lunch & dinner” “this is my pet 20 times” and you don’t have an annoying mrs with an excessive personality. Like a hell of a lot of other videos. Good work

I have watched both of your NC500 vlogs and enjoyed them both. Thanks for sharing. I was very impressed that you showed some of the interesting sights on the East leg of the tour. Most people just show Dunrobin Castle and the signpost at John-O-Groats and then pop up again at Durness - as if there is nothing to see in between. I honestly don't know why 90% of the tourists take the A9 if they don't think there is anything there to see. They could just take the A839 after Dornoch and then the A836 between Lairg and Tongue and cut out the entire East coast. And they would get the chance of being straffed by the RAF who use these glens for low level practice. But I suppose that route would have to be called the North West 300 wouldn't it.

There’s always a chance of getting snow at that time of year to be honest, as there is right the way through to April. Driving in the snow just requires more patience and for you to drive way more carefully in terms of speed and breaking. There’s also the issue of getting to steeper hills such as the Bealach Na Bass pass which would be tricky (sometimes it’s closed in bad snow).

First hand live recommendation, Would you rather motorhome the NC 500 or hire a car and stay in the air B&Bs

    • @robbieroams

Very very tough question! Pro’s and Con’s to both but either option is fantastic 👍 If given the choice I would actually combine the two - stay in a B&B maybe every 2 or 3 nights and stay in the motorhome the rest of the time.

Great video with narration and very useful tips. I am from India and planning to travel in late July. I would like to travel in 5 days. So I have started working on your tip # 1- Plan

Hi Tony, thanks for watching. So we decide where to stop based on what we want to see each day and how much time we’ve actually got. The budget can also affect that.

It varies to be honest and of course depends how long you do it for. For example 5 days involves more driving each day Vs 7 days. On average I’d say 2 hours a day on the road.

Thanks for watching, if you’re from the UK you have to register yourself with the CAA as a drone pilot and do a basic online test. There are places you can’t fly in the summer months due to breeding of birds such as Puffins etc.
