Hey Robbie, I'm Gordon & my wife is Ruth, we run The Bothy Cafe in Ullapool, a HUUUUUUUUGE thanks for you guys very kind words❤, truly appreciated Dude
Not a problem - highly recommended 👍
What a refreshing change to see a "NC500" blogger enjoying the Highlands, using campsites & avoiding distressing residents, many others think they can park overnight wherever they like, this causes many problems, I'm sure of which you are aware.
Hoping more follow your example. Haste ye back.
Thanks June that’s very kind of you.
We bought your book and travelled from Australia last September with the family. Has brought back so many memories. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Jason I hope you had a great trip 🤩
Great vid. I live in the Cairngorms Nation Park and know the route well as a local and overlander. The West Coast has become really busy since the NC500 took off, and sadly not all visitors are as considerate as you and your friends. So I would ask people who do plan to take the route to drive with consideration for those of us who live and work here, to be thoughtful about where you park and spend the night if not using official campsites and to please dispose of your rubbish with care. It's heartbreaking to see the mess some leave and the damage caused by campfires and portable BBQs. We have even seen people dumping their chemical toilets by the side of the road. Let's keep the Highlands beautiful. Anyway, you took that fall like a pro. I hope the bruising wasn't too bad.
Thanks for your kind words 👍
It’s amazing how people go to these places for the beauty and adventure and leave mess. 🤦♀️
You said you never get bored of the Highlands. I know exactly what you mean, I live at Invergordon and have lived in this area all my life and I never get bored of it. For most of my working life as a delivery driver up here I would say I've been on every road in Scotland so I know why people love it so much. Great video my friend.
Thanks Jimmy, it’s a magical place - would love to live there myself one day 👍
ROBBIE, films ,edits, casts .location and now.. ALL HIS OWN STUNTS.. wooooow.. :))))) sending the love my friend :))))
😂 unplanned stunt thanks for watching again 👍
Funny you said exactly what I say. When I take someone up for the first time, I get excited for them too. Great stuff.
It’s such an incredible place 👍
Robbie , I am from West Virginia USA Will be doing the NC500 in September , Love the videos just ordered you book via Amazon , keep up the good work , Cheers.
Thanks for your comment I hope you have a fantastic trip 🙏
Think thats the best advert for a book I've ever seen! Just ordered it!!! Also, April looks so good IF you get lucky with the weather it looks massively quieter. And defo the time to go
Thanks Gavin much appreciated.
Robbie, I have just bought your book and a copy for my friend, its brilliant, going to do the 500 in my new Ineos Grenadier vehicle in October with the dogs, I am on a crutch after recent surgery and know some places will be inaccessible but never the less...i'm super excited, your book is written so clearly and this video is great too...thank you.
Thank you, the majority of the route is relatively accessible from the road side or lay-bys and you can always return in future 😀
Just want to say thank you for your book. It’s been brilliant and so helpful. I’ve just finished the NC500 on my own with my fur baby by my side. What a epic trip. I’ve had the best time. Sooooo beautiful and special. Thanks 🙏
That sounds amazing I’m so glad you had the best time 🙏 Where to next?
@@robbieroams this is cheesy, but there is one line out of your book that helped me keep going and do all of the NC500. “Honestly don’t over think it, you’ll be fine. “ 😂🙏
Hey Robbie, Bought your book and doing the NC500 starting tomorrow, driving up to Scotland this afternoon. Planned our trip around your book so can't wait and thank you for your video, the book and advice, we can't wait to get up there 😊👏
Have a fantastic trip Daz! 😀
Great watch mate
Me and a pal done the nc500 2 weeks ago was absolutely amazing from start to finish and I will definitely be doing it again very soon. I'll be honest I'm not sure people realise just what an epic trip it is and what an achievement it felt like to be part of it ! Good luck mate look forward to checking out some more of your videos 👍
Thanks mate all the best 👍
Good video
Glad you enjoyed 👍
Absolutely buzzing just ordered this book , we’ve just done half of the wales 1 and going back to do more in august . Done parts of the nc500 twice now and looking forward to doing more with better guidance hurry up and bring more out so we can do more lol thanks Robbie Roams
Haha thanks Andi, South West one is coming very soon 👍
Great video, we’re doing the NC500 end Aug and following your book, can’t wait
Thanks Jo have a wonderful trip 👍
Hi Robbie. Just got back from doing the NC500 again myself. This time was chuffed that I managed to get the wife to come with me. She did a lot of planning beforehand from various sources, but the only guide she actually ended up taking on the trip was your book, so praise indeed mate! 😁. One thing I was looking forward to seeing again on the trip was Callum, but no sign of him when we arrived, so glad to see from your vid, that he’s still ok.
Amazed that from all the footage you must take, you get the video edited so quick, so cheers for the effort that must take.
Really enjoyed this one again. All the best. 👍🏻
Thanks a lot Stuart, a shame you missed Callum, unfortunately it doesn’t seem like he has much life left. Glad you had a great trip 👍
Great video mate ..me and the missus are doing the nc500 next year in our 27 year old transit campervan. Looking forward to it. Now just bought your book too . Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks Dave that’s much appreciated! You must be looking after that thing 👍
Fab video, definitely the best I've seen of the show so far. I didn't get to see as much as I'd of liked and I'm so glad you showed the horse trailer because I never got chance to go take a look but prior to quirky it was something I was pondering.
Thanks Helen 😅
Off doing the trip at the start of September. We have 600 miles to get to Inverness first but can't wait, planning a stop off in Northumberland enroute. Great post, sat here making notes in the book and watching the vid in anticipation for our trip.
Thanks! Have a wonderful trip you’re off there at a great time of the year 👍
Really enjoyed this Robbie. Can’t wait for our trip next month. Love your editing style, especially the drone footage. I’d be interested in a video on how you edit.
Thanks Guys I hope you have a great trip! Perhaps I’ll put together an editing video soon 👍
Got your book and I'm doing it next week ☺️
Thank you I hope you a great trip 👍
You have made us want to do the NC500 ourselves!
Get it planned? 🥳
Just ordered my copy and looking forward to doing the trip in June.
Hey Sammy! Did you feel perfectly OK doing this trip solo?! I'm hoping to head off beginning Sep this year in my little Romahome! I live in Cornwall so have a long stretch ahead before starting the 500. Thanks so much in advance. Mandy ✨️✨️✨️
Great vid Rob and gives me such exciting vibes for my next trip to Scotland in October. Like what you did we’re taking another couple who haven’t seen scenery like what they’ll see. Their expressions will definitely be something to remember. It’s funny watching your vid and thinking back to our trip does make it quite emotional but I’m sure you get that with all your trips there. Anyway, great vid, may see you around. All the best
Thanks Rob! Sharing the experience will be fantastic!
@@robbieroams also mate. I see you flew your drone in Skye at the Old Mann o stor, don’t know the spelling lol. When I went this was one of the places I really wanted to fly but there was a not on the gate saying not to. Just wondering if you had the same ?? Thanks mate.
@@robpullen The footage on the drone was from a few years back not this actual trip (I didn’t notice the sign both times) - if you are there really early / really late and there aren’t many people about as long as your safe with it I don’t see an issue - it’s not a no fly zone with the CAA and it isn’t private property.
@@robbieroams that’s good to know mate lol. Yeah there was a notice up and it said it was from the council. Not sure if I can put a photo on here. I’ll see if I can. Thanks again mate.
Really enjoyed watching your video, looking to purchase your book as well. In your opinion what is the best time / month of the year to do the NC500? hoping to start planning it next year.
Thank you, I personally think May / September to avoid the crowds but get the best chance of improved weather 👍
Bought your book a few months ago Rob,as looking to take a trip up to the Highlands on my K1600. Great to see you and your mates in the video, you come across really well, down to earth and a dog lover. Well done for keeping the fall in, it happens to the best of us, you styled it out well💪 I'm thinking of b&b in Ullapool on this first run, and running out and back for 5 nights, I prefer a base - any recommendations? Definitely going to Talisker, but £600 for one bottle?!
Awesome, thank you 😂 They were being very silly, I think they’re now worth about £601 😳 I’d probably opt for something on Air BNB if you’re staying for that kind of length 😚👍
It's hard to pronounce everything correctly but, I was particularly fond of you say Talisker in a funny way.
Great video. Nice one!
Haha it’s always tough - I’m in Cornwall and still getting it wrong!
Got to admit that was a particular favourite pronunciation amongst the many butchered ones (some are hard if you’re not Scottish), loved the video, some great videography and a general good vibes.
Hey Robbie, I'm in Australia & I've bought your book before doing the NC500 later this year (in August/Sept23) - so happy to see all the hints & places in your video, but man o man, stop touching your head whilst filming, it puts me off! (ps, luv your doggy & your missus!)
You won’t see this in future videos 😂 I’ve been told the error of my ways 😂
Hi Robbie thank you for the wonderful video and info on NC 500 road trip. We are planning to do this in the first week of October. Wondering how the weather will be. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you
The weather in Scotland is a wee bit unpredictable but that’s what makes the NC500 so beautiful! One minute it can be bright sunshine the next torrential rain!
Hey, we're starting our nc500 and Skye road trip in the first week of June. Really helpful video with a lot of beautiful spots we weren't originally planning to visit. Just wanted to know what you guys had prepared for breakfast on the road
It depends but we had some cereal & milk, breakfast cereal bars and stopped for breakfast at some great cafes along the route.
@@robbieroams thanks 👍
Another great 500 video! I got your book for my Birthday last year and we’ve done it in various stages each break. We live in Kinross so not too far to get to various places. We usually take the car with our 2 border collies and book cottages but fancy using a camper/motorhome next time. I drive a Merc Sprinter XL double rear wheel minibus (7m) as a Carer/driver for a charity so a good size ‘van’ will be easy. What’s the place in ‘Glesgie’ you guys hired from and what was their rates?
Hi Glen - freedom motorhomes they were just outside Glasgee 👍 Not too sure on rates but the guys that hired were happy 👍
Love the video, well put together and I’ve got the book on order! QQ, can you book on the day for the majority of campsites? Unsure what days we’ll be where that’s all. Thanks!
It depends what time of year to be honest. The route does get very busy in the summer months. Autumn and spring you may be ok to turn up on the day.
@@robbieroams awesome thanks for the rapid response. We’re due early September, will see how it goes! Thanks again
@@jackatherton2712 as long as the school holidays are over you should be fine 👍
Campsite In Beauly has great facilities if your ever heading that way
Thanks Stuart.
Just bought your book going last week of July first week of August and don't know what to expect we where thinking of camping any help would be appreciated..
Thanks Julie - everything you need is in the book. At that time of year I would definitely book your campsites in advance as it does get busy 😄
Hi Robbie. The group photo of you all with Skye in the background. Was that took at the top of Applecross Pass? I'm heading that way next month. Many Thanks
Yep right at the top 😅
Awesome video robbie. You should change your name to Rabbie you spend so much time up there. Awesome 👌
Haha thank you I’m glad you enjoyed 😀
Good video , the drone footage works great .. You like your waterfalls , the beaches are amazing I know👍
As I'm from the Scottish central belt I've visited these places a few times , I notice one thing your not doing and I highly recommend doing it.. Do a munro walk , see Scotland from a more natural view point and not just from the road .. So I recommend the next time you are in Torridon go walk up Alligin .. Its got a good track the whole way , some steep steps , will take about 2hrs and the final top has one hell of an amazing reveal you will never forget.
Just don't do it in bad weather ..
Thanks - me and the lads are certainly more into the mountain hikes so we’ll attempt this one next time 👍
@@robbieroams there is good parking for Alligin , but.. It can still fill up, don't be the last there ..
We used your book for our 17 trip we got back yesterday and was on a very similar schedule to you pity didn’t bump into you
Thank you guys how did your trip go?
@@robbieroams your book was great and we had a fantastic holiday and can’t wait to go back and see what we missed
BONNIE SCOTLAND!
What a place 🏴
Brilliant videos mate, however if you travel up multiple times and even visited Skye why not cross over see all the Inner and Outer Hebridee Islands, the beaches are like these 10x almost Caribbean esk especially the likes of Barra... have a quick search on Google. Crystal white clear blue beachs.
It’s in the plan for next time 👍
Looking for your book on Amazon in US. I don’t see it listed. ??
It’s on Amazon UK or direct from my website 👍😀
Also obviously haven’t got the book yet. Any tips for traveling solo?
You’ll bump into a lot of friendly people a long way all doing the same trip so you can share experiences etc. I think it’s a great route to do solo, you’ll be so immersed in the natural beauty of the highlands!
Thanks a lot. Bit scared about doing this on own, mainly the driving. But super excited and can’t wait to see the beauty.
Cracking vid mate aidy fae Kilmarnock
Legend! Thanks mate 👍
What drone do you use?
Mavic Pro 2 🤩
Which way roundis the best . Clockwise or anticlokewise???
Anti clockwise for me 👍 You’ll save the best scenery until last 🤩
@@robbieroamsmy son has just gone up there today fri eve travelling up there coincidence to do the 500 mile run anticlokewise. But he does not know about your videos . And I only came across them by accident wed eve gone . The views and colours are amazing . In 70s and 80s went around glenn Coe ft William. Oban . Trossucks. Mallaig. Only manage to ullerpool. Inverness. Loch lomond. Submarine pens . Later years Edinburgh. But you got some very good photos and footage . So thank you for showing me what I haven't seen. Very very good. Thank you .
What time of the year did you go?
In this particular video it was April :)
Northerly Most point in the UK…. I think not!
Mainland UK?
The whisky is pronounced, tAlisker not terlisker. Also it’s Loch ness not lock ness.
Thanks Alex, everywhere I go I butcher the names unfortunately.
@@robbieroams no problem. I’ve lived in the highlands and sky for many years so it jars when I hear something pronounced incorrectly. Bit of ocd maybe.😂 I’ll just quickly mention Assynt. The emphasis is on the Ass not the ynt bit. I used to be restaurant manager at an hotel in lochinver a few years ago and used to tour all round the highlands on my days off. I absolutely love that area. Thanks for a very entertaining video. 👍🏻
It's Skye not sky 😂😂😂😂😂
Pronunciation still needs a bit of work 😂
Look Rome wasn’t build in a day 😂
