"Boxing is just boxing". Proving Zab's point that MMA is just a glorified bar fight. If you can make a 100 times boxing than MMA and choose MMA, it's ALWAYS because you couldn't master boxing skills.
It's not that u ain't master the skill.... The sport is harder tho... But MMA takes more skill obviously u have to learn multiple skills. In boxing tho you have to become really really good at those selective boxing skills. Cuz guys been boxing since they came out the womb
The tough guy posturing of MMA fans is cute. You can die in a boxing ring. The stakes in boxing are way higher than two guys with piss poor standup trying to compensate but humping each other on the ground. Your sport literally has plumbers and bums off the street and becoming champions 🤣🤣
@Anthony Galeano and your sport has regular guys off the street becoming champions. Any bum cant walk into boxing and become a champion. But all MMA takes is a lucky punch
I love Zab but that was a stupid thing to say. How can boxing be more skillful than MMA when boxing is a part of MMA. That's like saying Biology is more complicated than Science.
MMA takes way more skill and knowledge than boxing by far...Boxing- U have ten strikes at most u have to watch for and that's it... Mma just standing u have to worry about 50 diffrent strikes and that's not even the ground yet...I love boxing but c'mon ppl let's be real
naw guys pick up mma and in 2 years are in the ufc to be a champion boxer you have to train your whole life and fight 11 more minutes and take punches from far more powerful and skillful guys. Look at what just happened to conor mcgregor lost a fight against a guy because he wasn't used to fighting other southpaws and he's an all time mma great right? You can do more with less in mma then in boxing that's the point.
The same way zab feels boxing is all skill, is the same way a grappler feels on the mat. Fighting is fighting. And every fighter is going to feel their style is supreme sport.
Calling a lot of these guys “martial artists” is a stretch. ...even the term “Mixed martial arts”...are we really watching ju jitsu vs takekwondo ...or just guys that train in “mma” gyms.
@@treedillinger5801 MMA is just taking whatever works from each martial art/fighting style. @@ggstatertots ...I know, I get that. @@treedillinger5801 True, that's how the UFC was when it started. Then it evolved into this thing where people took the best of everything and made a style of that.
MMA is like being a Jack of all trades and a master of none . Which isn’t a bad thing at all it makes you more of a complete fighter but not a master of an individual discipline.
MMA requires multiple SKILL sets not just one like boxing. Boxing is one skill set. MMA is Judo, grappling, wrestling, striking, Karate, kicking. Mutipal SKILL sets.
When Vlad talks about Michael Jai White saying that he didn't compete in professional sports because of the lack of money in the sports... To me, all that is says is that he has a lack of passion. Sure, I'd also take the big bucks that he is earning in Hollywood. But if he truly thought or even knew that he be competitive at the top levels of mma or kickboxing, he would compete...despite the lack of money.
Vlad did a bad job of trying to interpret what zab was trying to say. He showed all the respect in the world to mma but simply said in boxing theirs less to work with as far as striking. This was a great interview though!
Boxing is the sweet science. Stick and move...that grabbing and rolling around is the wack stuff nobody needs. “Martial artist” is a stretch for most of these cage fighters...plus look at the money. If anybody in MMA were good enough to make 10x more boxing- they’d be doing that instead.
@Lord Arceus [ Reddits Nicest Guy ] do you really not understand the difference in POWER and hand speed?? If that fight wasn’t stopped Connor would’ve died in that ring. He’s one of the hardest punchers in mma, right? ...and he’s not even mediocre for a boxer.
@Lord Arceus [ Reddits Nicest Guy ] ...different skill sets...everyone gets that. I’m talking about power. Floyd Mayweather never learned to throw a kick or a knee, but when he does it’ll hit twice as hard as McGregor’s... do you have any idea the footwork and stamina that goes into boxing?
@Lord Arceus [ Reddits Nicest Guy ] ...my point is simple. I’m not talking about random guys training in gyms...I mean the pros. The elite fighters. Nobody in mma is on the level of a top pro boxer. Nobody hits even close to as hard as Tyson or has the hand speed. When we talk about Connor vs Floyd: that’s 40 year old Floyd. How do you think Connor vs Canelo Alvarez would go? So 2 random guys in a street fight: ok- I’ll guess that the mma guy will win...but elite level mma vs elite level boxer...I’ll pick the boxer in a street fight...or a basketball game or anything else. Because there’s a HUGE mismatch... you think the 2 clowns in this video will beat Tyson in a street fight?
I agree that being an elite boxer requires more skill than being an elite MMA fighter because in boxing it's one discipline but in MMA it involves multiple disciplines therefore MMA requires less skill I'm each area to become elite while in boxing you must be elite in the discipline of boxing if you have in MMA if you have two skills that your proficient in and have decent skills in the other disciplines then you can become elite there's so many different fighting disciplines that go into MMA that no one can be an expert in all but in boxing if you aren't very skilled in boxing than you can become elite the elite MMA fighters can't consistently beat elite boxers In boxing and vice versa boxing is harder to be elite at than MMA which is why I believe MMA is more attractive to the average person because they know they've got a better chance to become a good MMA fighter because it requires less proficiency than boxing does I look forward to the replies that I'm sure my comment will get
Being proficient in MMA is a skill in itself. I don't need to be the best boxer to go into mma. Glove size, shoes, and the ring or cage change the game dramatically. I need to be sharp enough to establish offense n some defense. Like wise with wrestling. I don't need to be a all American collegiate level to fight mma. Mma used to be about proving wht martial art is the best in the 90s. Then in the 2000s fighters started cross training. And now the top level fighters are advanced in striking and grappling arts. Being able to control the octagon, chaining your strikes and grappling together, grapple while strikes are coming at u, defense from strikes and chokes. MMA fighters arnt "jack of all trades" fighters like ppl make it seem
Ok back in the day Dan Severn’s mustache wins, nowadays, Don Frye wins. But the real question is, would there be a Don Frye mustache without Dan Severn...
Na, it's the other way around. Him saying he sucked at boxing is proving Zabs point of it being a skill but to sit there and say that mma isn't is fucking stupid. That shit is ALL skill and anyone who's ever actually trained knows it.

He said more skillful.some stuff take years to do.. At the top of it all you know highest level . I tend to agree there. One good punch is not going to win a fight in boxing. In any fight at the highest level , it can change the fight but it won't win it out right.. In mmas one good arm bar its over. One solid take take u lose. In mma , . Go watch Billy conn. Vs Joe Louis. Billy conn played major league baseball and boxed. & At the highest level he got knocked out. He had the punchs but the skill for that level of fight . 2 different things. I'm not saying anybody can beat a mma champion easy no. But you don't need a lot skill to get there gifts. 8 month u can master rear near choke and beat everybody to the title . Boxing it take 8-10 +years to master left check. And to defend such thing. You won't landing it on whim either in boxing. It take serious serious skill. I think both are hard things. Mmas is a lot easier to learn than boxing. In boxing you can't be 1 trick pony
@William G it has happened my guy. A former HW. Boxing IBF champion. Went to the title match in mma on rear neck choke hold alone. U can be one trick pony in mmas and win 4 straight fights to the title . It has never happened in the opposite direction. KJ Noons boxing career is close a mma fighter ever come to a real title fight at any weight in. Pro boxing at the highest level.
They are both skilled and athletes. Boxers just rely on their skill and are more disciplined in there skill. If you don't train properly and at strict discipline then you will get your ass whooped in boxing. In MMA they don't have to rely on their athleticism as much. There are way more options. Which means you can do things that doesn't require you being a super athlete. Looks at the Royce Gracie...he wasn't near the athlete Tyson or even Judah was. Judah could have went to MMA if he went at a younger age. Gracie couldnt have went to Boxing and been as successful....Boxers are by far the better striker with their hands. There is no comparison when it comes to that.
@@jkennerson123 i have done martial arts and do know a lot about it. Boxing is vastly harder at the highest level. You might not agree because you never fought at the highest level. All the stuff you have to learn is one thing. To do it is another. To defend is another. A elite wrestler or Bjj in mmas don't really need. Elite strike game versus the champion or anybody. . In boxing. If ur a outside fighter. Andthe champ a elite inside fighter. Your going to be pis'n blood it just the facts. Go watch sum Errol Spencejr. Some Jack lamotta. M Hagler. You gotta know how to defend versus it at a elite level. Not just learn some stuff. And get by with certain defense moves. No. No it does not work like that in boxing. U dont need a second degree Dan blk belt level to defend on the ground in mm.a Basic blk belt skill is enough. In boxing you to have great defense to fight a skillful champion. Zab Judah was knocking guy out. Mayweather jr etc. The skill it took fight them was higher. Not just know what to do. But to do it at the right time. In mmas u got back up plans, recovery moves . in boxing ur skill level is ur recovery . hope u understand. Its more skillful. I'm not saying mmas dont take skill. Or they have any. No. Ronda rouse vs holly Holm. Who was more skillful.? Holm only had brown belt on the ground and stopped a Olympic gold medalist in judo. 3rd level dam black belt . If. Mms was based on skill Rousey should have never lost that ground fight. Right. Lets be honest. The cold truth is u got back up stuff in mmas ,
MMA is where failed boxers go to become champions, like holly Holmes, you have never seen an MMA fighter transition into boxing and become champions. So who has the more technical skills.
Fighting in the clinch is also a thing in boxing Dan. Look at a fighters like Bernard Hopkins and Andre Ward that would beat guys up in the clinch. It's just that some refs, such as Kenny Bayless, break guys up to quickly.

Don Frye's voice somewhat reminds me of Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. His younger face somewhat reminds me of Kurt Russell.
Great interview both legends 👏🏼
"Boxing is just boxing".
Proving Zab's point that MMA is just a glorified bar fight. If you can make a 100 times boxing than MMA and choose MMA, it's ALWAYS because you couldn't master boxing skills.
You are stuck in 1995. MMA has evolved since then.
It's not that u ain't master the skill.... The sport is harder tho... But MMA takes more skill obviously u have to learn multiple skills. In boxing tho you have to become really really good at those selective boxing skills. Cuz guys been boxing since they came out the womb
@Anthony Galeano Gladiators that suck at every discipline equally. Yeah, real gladiators.
Hahahaha, I like Don, he's unapologetic and his voice sounds like it belongs in a typecast Hollywood movie!
The same way zab feels boxing is all skill, is the same way a grappler feels on the mat. Fighting is fighting. And every fighter is going to feel their style is supreme sport.
Dan's not lying Rick Rude did the insurance pay out. Then he asked Eric Bischoff to pay it off with Turner Sports money. Eric said no.
Yup
Facts
How is one martial art more skilled than several? Of course MMA is more skilled
That's why there's people in there who have different backgrounds from muay thai/kickboxing to boxing/bare knuckle to wrestling/jiu jitsu/judo and even some guys supplement things like taekwondo/karate/capoeira and everything in between. Sure some people train in generalized MMA gyms but some specialized in certain fighting styles before transitioning to MMA.
@@ggstatertots ...I know, I get that. I’m just saying: when it first started I envisioned guys like Bruce Lee fighting in different styles, with boxers, kickboxers etc... but it seems like the overwhelming majority train in general “mixed” martial arts. Which I understand from a strategy standpoint.
Boxing is throwing hands...MMA is a fight for your life🤣😂🤣😂

When Vlad talks about Michael Jai White saying that he didn't compete in professional sports because of the lack of money in the sports... To me, all that is says is that he has a lack of passion. Sure, I'd also take the big bucks that he is earning in Hollywood. But if he truly thought or even knew that he be competitive at the top levels of mma or kickboxing, he would compete...despite the lack of money.
Freddy Mercury & Tom Selleck have had secret crazy big fighting careers in the open.
Lmfao, u fool.
@@zacharyharris438 ..what happened to Connor when he fought 40 year old Floyd and his brittle hands?
Theres no standing 8 count in MMA and in a clinch U get knees, elbows, foot stomps... Theres no comparison on what you have to bring to game!
Boxing is a game compared to mma
@@mannyclav Neither are games, more boxers die or end up in bad health positions. Boxing is no game, your life is on the line.
I agree that being an elite boxer requires more skill than being an elite MMA fighter because in boxing it's one discipline but in MMA it involves multiple disciplines therefore MMA requires less skill I'm each area to become elite while in boxing you must be elite in the discipline of boxing if you have in MMA if you have two skills that your proficient in and have decent skills in the other disciplines then you can become elite there's so many different fighting disciplines that go into MMA that no one can be an expert in all but in boxing if you aren't very skilled in boxing than you can become elite the elite MMA fighters can't consistently beat elite boxers In boxing and vice versa boxing is harder to be elite at than MMA which is why I believe MMA is more attractive to the average person because they know they've got a better chance to become a good MMA fighter because it requires less proficiency than boxing does I look forward to the replies that I'm sure my comment will get
here's your reply you wanted
"Ruiz beat his ass...."
There was the REMATCH, you know, Vlad....
He conveniently left that part out.
left the part where ruiz got floored out too as if he just walked through joshua lol
That match was a total fluke. Ruiz would NEVER win that fight again.
Vlad doesn’t know shit about boxing
He doesn’t know who zab is? Ya don would get beat up
This was the manliest sit down i swear . If they really do a podcast , I'll watch that s--t
Great interview.
Boxing is like checkers mma is like playing chess to many ways to win.

Gotta interview Ken shamrock next
It's a reason why mma fighter's are allowed to wear those small gloves, because there not as skilled.
There's a conversation about which sport requires more skill or what that even means, but Zab is definitely more skilled than Don ever was.
At boxing. Not at fighting. Or wrestling.
Zab Judah vs Don Frye confirmed. Good job Glad.
Detective Vlad tryna start beef i see.....
Saying Andy Ruiz is just a brawler proves that Vlad shouldn’t talk about boxing or MMA, he knows fuck all about either sport.
Where was Dan Frye on January 6th?
Tony “Dung-ee” 😭
Don said himself, "I sucked as a boxer." He doesn't know what HE'S watching, when he watches the handskills and feints of good boxers.
Na, it's the other way around. Him saying he sucked at boxing is proving Zabs point of it being a skill but to sit there and say that mma isn't is fucking stupid. That shit is ALL skill and anyone who's ever actually trained knows it.
He kind of proved Zab right, and admitted that he wasn't athletic enough for boxing. Lol
Wow how stupid you must be irl

What zab said contradicted himself. How is boxing a skill but mma that consists of boxing not a skill? Lol
In mma
@@l3tme545 So you're saying learning how to box alone is harder than learning multiple aspects of fighting? You make no sense.
The cold truth is u got back up stuff in mmas ,
Zab Judah was a world champion a few times and as a sparing partner I agree with Zab boxing is more skilled than MMA.
that's just silly. in boxing you only gotta be good at one thing. in mma if your sub par in one thing you will not prosper
