It was said that all performers were required to use a pre recorded track for less technical difficulties. And this is the case for huge events like Olympics, it’s all pre recorded. So, all who performed during the Olympics ceremony were using pre recorded track. And take note, no performers were paid during the opening ceremony for Paris Olympics that includes Lady Gaga and Céline Dion.
That woman went through a disorder to even walk again and people are so bothered about her lip syncing? Shocking. Céline went through so much to give the fans what they want they can't even appreciate it!
I mean it's literally an Olympics performance. You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think it would be live. I know that for events like the superbowl they won't allow artists to sing live. They can't afford for something to go wrong, so people should give her a break!
@MhC-om5ef Yes, the artists perform for free and are not paid for their Superbowl performances. Why would they be? They beg the NFL to get on the show for the publicity and exposure. The NFL only covers the expenses for travel and production costs.
Celine lipped here, but the superbowl can be live vocally. They don't like bands to be live but vocalists they will allow. The Olympics are always lipped. Celine lipped here and in 96 Atlanta.

Whether she actually sang live or not has nothing to do with the moment. The fact that she was able to sing for us AT ALL with that much power, delicacy, and breath control is what's so stunning. The woman has STIFF PERSON SYNDROME!! Frankly, if you must insist that it was a playback, then we can agree that it was the BEST, most well-synced performance in history. It was a stunning performance and there were too many risks with a live performance (the uncertainty of her health, rain/wind with electronic equipment, etc). There have been a couple of videos that have addressed the topic but none called it a scandal (cuz it wasn’t)
It was confirmed by organization and her that it was not playback one day after that ... The organization adviced a playback but it was refused by Celine Dion.

No it wasn't recorded long time ago, it was recorded in studio but it was ''pitch corrected'' she's not able to do some notes actually. Look the video of ''Wings Of Pegasus'' you can hear her real voice during the repetitions. But no one care in reality, we know it's very difficult for her and that she have talent

It's not a scandal at all most live events are lip-synched. The Macy's day parade is lip-synch. The Super Bowl is lip sync. No one cares at all.
