Same honestly, once Clay was gone she didn't have to keep looking nervous or scared. Having her face turn to her grin from before soon as Clay's back was turned would have implied there wasn't any genuine worry there. It could be that she was surprised that Clay was really willing to put herself in such danger to give her a chance at freedom, too, but I think just the same she was worried about her and hoped for her safety.
I think, it's because that's what Clay wanted, she knows she's being tricked, but she likes to think Kalmia did not, so that's why Kalmia did, it's an act of empathy, one last act of pity for Clay.

This makes me feel feelings. When I was younger I was obsessed with this song. It probably had something to do with me relating to Clay and wanting to love someone as much as she loved Kalmia. The younger me also thought that Kalmia was incredibly pretty. Not much has changed.
