    Talks throughout but doesn’t explain the difficult bits as good as he could. But the job would have never gotten done without this video. Excellent mechanic.

    Now I see why the labor is so expensive on this job,it I had to do that job I would have renamed everything under the hood at least once probably would have had to take a break with a cold one in the swing set and finished up the next day I was amazed at your patience young man tks for the video

    Badass bro, this was the best video explaining everything.
    You should probably tell everyone watching that this job should only be done by competent people who can listen twice. it’s a really tight job with minimum wiggle room the idiots in the comments should pay someone to do the job because the instructions are clear and simple

  • @osucowboys7
    @osucowboys7 2 года назад +5

    Thanks for the tips! Great video! I managed to jack up the engine enough for me to get some wiggle room for the mount. I used the same block of wood method as in the video. This allowed me to move the mount about an inch for the starter to fall out. I didn’t have to pull out the mount, but that is because I was replacing an aftermarket part. OEM starters are bigger(apparently?). My project was a Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 2WD. Good luck.

    I can do some things but I was NOT going to attempt this job on my 2011 Overland.
    I paid to have it done, and while it cost me an arm and a leg, I salute any one that does this job.

    I have a slight cheat for doing them, remove the 3 heat shields, remove starter bolts, use forked push pin removal tool ( personally have the x long snapon, just put it up there on signal wire and twist it slides right off ) then tilt starter upwards enough to get a socket and ratchet on bat+ remove that then tilt it up more it will come out, then push it forwards from under and then remove the 1 torx bolt at the lower of the steering shaft then tuck the shaft between the frame and the ac lines and then pull the starter out under the radiator!!!!
    Bs job calls for removing 2 shields and then she should just fall out according to alldata

    Yow my friend your video was very informative but I happened to find a much easier way to get this done, all you have to do is remove the front drive shaf

  • @jamesrichardson1366
    @jamesrichardson1366 8 месяцев назад

    I didn’t have to remove any motor mounts, mines a 5.7. Not sure if that makes a difference but I’m working on another and I don’t want to take the driveshaft out like I did on the last. I got the same exact set up as you in the video but I cannot for the life of me even get the socket on the second starter mounting bolt

    I had an electrical technician tell me that AutoZone Duralast Starters don't work with these model years. He said they don't talk to the computer. Any info on that? Why would AutoZone sell a starter that won't work?

      I realized it was the AC compressor, but it had a coolant line by it that was in the way. I wound up just cutting the tip off the mount bolt and got it to fit.

    I also was able to remove starter without removing the mount or shaft. '12 4x4 with V6. I removed heat shields from the starter and engine mount. Removed the starter bolts from the rear by the drive shaft. With the starter loose I was able to point it up and then was able to reach the wires from above the engine mount. It took a bit of fishing but the starter came out the top of the mount and the other came in the same way.

      It's tight in there. Unless a second bro had a micro camera, as someone who's been under this thing, not sure how much of a view any logical person can expect on this thing unless you literally took the engine out.
      And not sure how much more you need explained. Was deathly straight forward, so naturally I'd have to assume this is the last job you should even bother attempting

      @@icemanhall9256 With the 4x4 variants, we have an extra axel/transfercase in the way up front really blocking things. Overall, the engine is oddly cramped. I feel like it the strut towers were way different, even a thicker bro like myself wouldn't be too hesitant about doing the contortionist shit necessary to get up in there (well I guess at that point it would be less lol)
