    Thank you for reassuring me that all I have to do is be honest

    • @AllThingsSocialSecurity
      @AllThingsSocialSecurity  3 месяца назад +2

      Always, and make sure what is honest is accurate. Sometimes people underestimate their limitations, and so answer as an optimist, but not very accurate. Our self-perceptions are skewed sometimes. So be careful to be clear on your limitations.

      @@AllThingsSocialSecurity Thanks for your response. I have a question because my Mental Status Exam is Thursday. I believe that I struggle with Borderline Personality Disorder, however I haven't been formally diagnosed. Major Depression, Anxiety Disorder, and ADHD are my three official Diagnosises. Do you think that by me telling the doctor that I think I also suffer from BPD will have a positive impact on the outcome of my Mental Status Exam for my SSI Benefits???

      @@working19977 I don't think I know a single "unimpaired" person - we all have something - most of us don't come close to being rendered 'disabled' from all kinds of full time work. It is all relative but I think most of us ignore or downplay our symptoms/limitations. We also get used to them and our 'baseline' changes and that may cause us to ignore things b/c they are now the 'norm' and not an acute symptom that we notice.

    • @AllThingsSocialSecurity

      @@working19977 Hmm. I can't speak to you specifically, but I do NOT urge my clients to push self-diagnoses onto their providers - rather the symptoms described will get them there is the criteria are met. (Mind you, I self diagnose and self- treat most of my issues that crop up in life, so I get it, but not always appreciated by providers, unless it is super played down and not pushed. THAT SAID, NOT TO A CE EXAMINER, I don't think. If your provider every suggested you may have BPD, I don't think you have to conceal that, but I'd not tell him that " I am self diagnosing b/c I know more about MH diagnoses than all of my MH expert providers, and certainly you Mr. CE... and I believe I likely have BPD in addition to the rest.
      Again, not specific to you b/c every situation can be different - this is a general response.

    Great videos. Thank you for making it. Headed to my evaluation right now. Second time going and I’m on my appeal this time. Having to YT this bc Marcwhitehead is going to take 30% but can’t take the time to reply to questions. 🙏🏼

    • @AllThingsSocialSecurity
      @AllThingsSocialSecurity  Месяц назад +1

      No rep can charge 30%. That is illegal. Please read your FEE AGREEMENT. If the attorney is experienced in this field, he will certainly have a law abiding fee agreement. He also can charge you ZERO unless and until the SSA sends a WRITTEN fee approval.
      Note that he is likely very busy working your case, and so answering questions that do not go towards that goal of getting you (and others) the prevail you deserve, would be contrary to his duties.
      I am not saying zippo communications is acceptable. It isn't. BUT, I do get clients who want to be educated on all the ways of the SSA,or want me to read their diary, etc. and I simply say NO, and in so many words, explain that my unbilled time is limited ONLY to that which will better his case - not privately tutor him, etc. If I were to do otherwise, I'd have to close the practice b/c all that needs to be done could not be done.
      And so, I answer questions HERE, in basics, which allows more to learn without every attorney, including myself, repeated information over and over, a very poor use of time and contrary to our clients' best interests.
      Fingers crossed for you on your case!

    Thoughts on SSA only scheduling CEs for physical ailments when applying primarily for mental health? Long history of GAD, Panic Disorder, Depression with meds & psychotherapy. 100% P&T and TDIU Vet…primarily for mental health. Is it an indication SSA agrees with VA and non-VA physicians on mental health?

    I had a mental exam the other day and I'm worried cause I haven't seen a phycologist in the past few years but I have a hard time focusing paying attention and remembering things. Do they go by what you put on your application when applied? I had help in school and problems with remembering and focusing is what got me on

    • @AllThingsSocialSecurity
      @AllThingsSocialSecurity  10 месяцев назад

      In the end, it is what is in CURRENT medical records, for those most part. Because you had none, that may be why they had you see a CE. Lack of focus and concentration, the consequences of that if proven with medical evidence sufficiently, will depend on the rest of your case. Low concentration is not a bar to many an unskilled job, but other legal rules can come into play depending on your vocational profile and other medical file details.
