Might be worth noting that everything before 2006 was ATI technologies and *NOT AMD* . Before '06 AMD was exclusively a CPU maker doing desktop, mobile and semi-custom chipsets and processors. AMD made moves to acquire ATI in 2006, forming AMD Vision, although AMD kept the ATI branding up until the Radeon HD6000 series circa 2010. Everything circa 2005 back to as far as 1987 is Array Technologies Inc, or ATI technologies for short.

I always preferred ATI/AMD over Nvidia just because (especially back in the late '90's/early 2000's) it was a better bang for the buck. The good thing about getting older (and thus having much more disposable income), I don't need to be a "fan boy" of any product. I can just go with what ever is the best hardware at the time.

If I remember correctly the ones I have owned were Rage, 7200, 9200, 9800, x800 gto and x1950 gt. Quite nostalgic... how the hell did we survive with graphics cards that had only 64 or 32MB of ram? :D First graphic card I bought myself was x800 GTO and I think it was the one which you were able to turn into GT by installing GT's firmware and that way you were able to get a little bit more power out of that graphic card.

So many typos, first the Radeon 9800 PRO had 8:8:8 configuration, just like the 9700PRO, it shows on the video as 4:4:4, second, the X800XT codename was R420, as the original R400 project was later renamed to the R520 series due to the inflection strategy. The X1800XT was R520, not R500, the X1900XT was R580, the X1950XT was the R580+. The Frog demo was for the HD 4800 series, not for the HD 2000 series. The HD 3000 series had their own Ping Pong demo, a DX9 game? Really??
The HD 6900 demo was the robots fightning on the building, the demo with the old guy hand animating the characters was for the HD 7900 series... The HD 8990 actually never existed, it was the HD 7990.. The baseclock for the RX 580 was 1,257, not 1,256. RX Vega 64 base clock was 1,200, not 1,247. Holy smokes!!

My Radeon ATI Mobility HD 3470 seems slower than the desktop version. But then I notice 3rd party manufacturers like Sapphire add twice as much vram to their desktop cards.

I also notice the GPUs come in two variants. Like the R600 series versus the RV600 series. Assassin's Creed or Darksiders, or StarCraft II is unplayable.
