The issue I've had with WP admin themes is that they almost always miss some element, or will after an update. It's difficult to recommend to clients if there's too high a possibility that it messes up the dashboard in any way. What we really need is for WP to step up and push forwards a modern refresh to their UI. This plugin looks promising, though.
I am really not sure where I stand on this… it just underlines how bad the situation is. Why do we need a third-party tool. The WordPress project has neglected this for so long or its governance stifles it… either way, sad that we require a plugin to have a remotely modern UI.
Looks great but I don't feel comfortable having tool like this. Too risky if something happens to the plugin in the future. Enough with 1 page builder for the front part. And the dev team of UIPress changed completely 2.0 to 3.0 ... and will only support 2.0 for 1 year ... imagine how fun it will be to redo all the dashboards again. Maybe is worth for agencies that sell 20K to 100K websites, but I think for most of us is just a shiny way to complicate your life more than a solution. My 2 cents
You can set it just for your client. Show to your client clean and nice looking dashboard with iportant items. And you can work with good old wp admin.
looks fantastic and really useful but you read my mind on the popups that appear when you want to edit something... those are better fit docked to the right hand side interface... thanks for the overview!
Now... make this an universal builder for... WP Admin Dashboard ✔️ WP E-Mail Templates WP Login Page WP Theme (Frontend) ... and we would have the best WP anyone can dream of... Why... hasn’t anyone done this yet...
So I'm just curious to what happens to the original dashboard styles? Are they just overriden with !important or what will happen if I add the filter to disable WP dashboard styles and then activate UIPress hmmnm
Buggy. Installed it and activated the Modern template. Played around with it. Set the menu to inline and could never set it back to anything else like Dynamic. Deactivated and then I had two menus side by side. The UIPress modern template menu plus the standard WP menu. Had to delete the plugin to fix that. Also I was able to change the background color on the side and top menus but not the dashboard widget area background. Will be cool when they get the bugs worked out.
Paul, I miss your live streams back last year or so... I run into the issue of I like to find and design a website for a client, but I don't like the maintenance and security of the site. Are there companies out there that take over and manage products after the build? So I can wash my hands. Getting calls about email issues at all hours is a tough task for one person. Much less trying to have the site updated and secured constantly.
The Uipress 3 Lite ( free version ) is awful for me, I downloaded it on 2 different sites of mine and it is so glitchy and malfunctions! I created a block but then get a message saying "the block is not there", or if I change something it doesn't load properly on the UI builder. I already reported it to UIpress but still haven't heard from them. I'm currently still using the Uipress version 2.4.2, I believe the Uipress 3 can be good but might need time to better to develop or fix the glitches.
I can't get it to work. I am in the builder but I still have the Wordpress interface... How to make the dashboard appear with the theme we have configured ?
Years and years ago, when I used Joomla, I have been using admin themes to make the site not look like Joomla. I was almost thinking that using Joomla was somehow something I should hide from my clients. All in all, though WP admin is not great, it somehow always comes out better then any of these tools make it look or perform like. My 20cents :D
Who knows. You could create a standard setup and export that for use on subsequent sites as an option. For me, this is probably just too much control over the setup.
Hey Tim, David here (Developer of the Ultimate Dashboard plugin). I just stumbled on this comment after watching the video so I thought I'd chime in. I think UIPress goes all in on giving you absolute full control over every aspect of the WordPress admin area. What we do with Ultimate Dashboard istead is, we respect the WordPress default look & feal and add upon that. We take a rather minimal approach with while UIPress makes the WordPress admin their own. That's what I would say is the key difference. From here it's basically just personal preference. Hope that helped! :) Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
This is what boggles my mind about wordpress, the community who works around it is literally insane in the amount of code output and projects that are produced. AND it's increasingly speeding up it seems with incredibly performant page builders like cwicly, breakdance, bricks and so on. Yet I feel like Automattic doesn't know how to harness this energy and kickstart a roaring 20s for wordpress, case in point is this plugin, do you know how awesome this will be for our client? And that asynchronous loading? This is what Automattic should be investing in.
Hello! Do you know anything that gives you ability to customize shirts, mugs etc? Smething free or very cheap would be great. . I have Lumise but it's buggy for me and their customer service is not really helpful in this case. .
@@WPTuts Yer i know, im just going to keep going and create something nice. The only one issue im currently having is for some reason the builds mess us wicked folders and causes it to overlap everything.
I am not happy with the tutorial; you show a lot of options, but the dashboard stays empty. I would like to see some examples of dashboards and then show the options. Now you're showing how to drive a car without driving it....
It looks outdated! The time of dashboard customizers is long gone. The customizers only embellish a problem that exists since the first days of wordpress. The future belongs to dashboard replacements and UIPress is not one of them. Dashboard replacements already exist and my customers are thrilled with how easy wordpress is to use now, with almost no learning curve!
Seeing as you’re simply touting your own product, let’s take that feedback with a pinch of salt is it. 🤷🏼♂️ A 30 second Google search throws light on that fact. 🤔
@@WPTuts Hello Paul :). I hope you are well. Of course it's always a bit of advertising for your own product when you talk about new technology. Also to make this new technique understandable. A wordpress dashboard replacement is a layer to put on top of the dashboard, preferably without negatively affecting the functionality of wordpress and all plugins. Today's browsers and the power of the current processors allow to use a wordpress dashboard replacement that corresponds to a desktop that any user of a PC can easily operate. Of course, programming such a solution is extremely time-consuming and requires a lot of basic work. But it is worth it! In all newer websites we have built with WordPress & Elementor, we have installed our plugin and we notice that our customers have no more fear of contact with the WordPress Dashboard and training is only minimally necessary. We are just an extremely small team that continues to develop in tiny little steps the PlugIn, whose name is found on page 2 on Google when you search for "wordpress dashboard replacement", and is happy about every realized progress. Steve Jobs: "It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them." Thank you. Hey Paul nice feedback Mark has been really proactive I am sure he takes all the feedback seriously.
paul! accurate timing. at the end of 2022, admin dashboard will be the right choice to learn for no-code developers.
It's looking really promising, I'm playing around with it at the moment too. It feels so much faster than the previous version 👍

Right said.
Sounds great, Paul.
Would we be able to implement this in a client admin scenario?

This looks refreshing, however I use wicked folders plugin, does this circumvent the use of folders?

It looks nice, but it introduces an unneeded point of failure for the CMS. Automatic will hopefully address this issue with WordPress in the future.
Sir can you make a tutorial on Custom Job Listings site with generatepress and generateblocks 🙏
A channel worth subscribing👍
I wish you can talk slower , so your explanation will be more clear
You can go to playback settings on RUclips and slow down the play back speed to whatever speed you need.
How much of this can be done with a few snippets instead of a plugin?
So I'm just curious to what happens to the original dashboard styles?

Is there a possibility to also customize the login screen?

It certainly needs more work and in my opinion, some simplification. Right now it feels like everything is thrown at you.

Game changer i love it
Its looks amazing

Set up the user levels for the theme. That’s how I got it working. 👍

Interesting idea, but how much extra are you going to charge a client to go through all that effort, WP admin might be ugly but it works at least.
Who knows. You could create a standard setup and export that for use on subsequent sites as an option.

Agreed. Instead they'd rather keep pushing Gutenberg knowing the majority of the community hates it
now is all pro, i cant even hide element on the custom admin sidebar

Its good but all i really need is to change admin menu's, colours, logos etc. i think its been made far to complicated.
For that it totally is. There are many options for simpler customisations.

First comment Paul 😎
Wow

As mentioned at the beginning of the video - this isn't a tutorial at all. It's to cover some of the options of the software and nothing more.
bloody great ruined my work with this plugin. my e-commerce web gone cant fulfil my orders or cant see them.
REALLY I WANTED TO USE IT BUT AS I'VE SEEN THIS I CAN'T
