I cannot believe how great this information is. I am just now starting a business with a government paid internship after the web dev boot camp they sent me too. I'm trying to, not soak up all information, way too much out there, but this... This is a gem because I plan to focus on the residual income of maintenance. THANK YOU!
I love how you justified your reasoning for sticking to the plugin that you have been using despite the low ratings. I sometimes (most of the time) choose plugins based on the ratings, but I have come across some really great and light-weighted plugins that actually worked better specifically for me. So yeah as long as it works for individuals, you don't have to heavily rely on the ratings when you choose plugins.
To the point and precise. I hate that you talked me into purchasing Elementor Pro but I really appreciate you pushed me out of my comfort zone. Much respect and appreciation
usually, I don't give likes on videos I just watch and leave but I've watched two videos on your channel and gave the like button as they are really valuable
Great and concise. I had a client turn down a quote for a site today then suggested their own price so tutorials making work easier are very welcome. Thanks.
I liked the concept of the explainer video, great idea 👍 For the rest TBH I'm not big on the idea of adding plugins for non-critical functions. Customizing the back end when the client won't need to change it in the future, can be done in css, Google Analytics and Tag Manager, can be enqueued in the theme, no need for a plugin. Every extra plugin is a greater chance of a breach and the website being used for malware or Google/SEO spam.
This is easily one of the most valuable videos I've come across in the Wordpress community! Well done video, packed with a lot of value and delivered well. When you get a chance, please create content around SEO for new & re-design website projects. Also, would love a longer video of Manage WP. Thank you and keep the good work!
Hey Rino - big fan - I have to introduce you to this option if you don't know it already, the latest version added Google Analytics, plus it has Menu Customisation based on roles, plus login customisation, etc so it's like all the plugins you mentioned in this video in one, plus the design is far nicer than standard WordPress admin area. However it does cost. But if it's a good client, who pays well, definitely you can afford this plugin and it's worth it, because it makes things easier and quicker for you, and much nicer and easier for the client too. Thanks!
Some good tips but this might help some people especially if you don't want to use an old plug in. You're using the WP Admin UI plugin to filter the menu options that a client can see, but you've already installed Whitelabel CMS to rebrand the dashboard. Whitelabel CMS also allows you to filter the menu options that your clients can see when they login. I'd recommend doing that instead of adding an extra plugin that duplicates features of one you already have.
Love this; back in the day when I built websites for businesses, I wish Elementor had existed -- it would have made scaling early Wordpress sites so much easier.
Yeeeeessss make a video about managing back ups and installing them when needed :) BTW thanks for you tips, very straight forward and good information!
Thank You, I am just starting out, skills are pretty good. But getting clients and the best approach? Most think a website is a waste of time and money and they think they should get a 1500.00 website for 100.00 USD My biggest issue is getting in the door with a new client, if given a chance t just listen to there business I could help. But never get in the door. I wish I found you sooner your services are more valuable for the extras you just described. However, I think too many plugins are an issue these days and now very leary. Perhaps I still have a lot to learn.
nice explanation well done we appreciate the effort and time giving to make your tutorials, to guide new beginners in the industry...wish you the best and keep on.
I am really happy that i found your channel. Amazing content and just what i needed. Right now i am just waiting for getting Elementor Pro on Black Friday :)
Very good video and plugins I wasn`t aware of. You should make video about hot to transfer everything from your test domain to the client`s domain. Thanks
Thank you for this really helpful guide. We have struggled for two years with clients "breaking" the builds. Also, you are a great communicator! Keep up the good work.
This is a great video. I did make a website for a client and I am constantly updating it. Ill be sure to implement the steps explained here in my website
This has been a very enriching video, I really appreciate it. 😀 To be honest, some things I already took into account, others not and some yes, but the tools you have shown have encouraged me to see beyond what I currently do. You have a natural talent to explain, right now I have used google translator to write you these lines, because I do not speak English very much, however, everything has become very clear to me watching the video.
Really found the ManageWp part very helpful. Would like to learn your own process for charging clients for plugin upgrades and also how to backup their website with managewp . Just subscribed. Well done! 🌟
Great tutorial, but just a little tip, you can choose what your client can see with white label cms as well, so you don’t have to install another plugin ;). With White Label, a little bit of css and HTML, you can also create boxes with text and icons, directly linked to “create a new page”, “create a new post”, “check for updates” and so on in the dashboard area; Let me know if u want some screen shot of what I’m talking about or any further info :). Anyway, thanks again for the tutorial :)
@@rinodeboer Did you try this? Did it work well? If so, let us know how! I'd love to learn how to do that within White Label CMS as opposed to adding additional plugins. Thanks!
Great video Rino. Have been binging your channel for a bit now and every single video is full of useful info from someone who clearly knows what they're talking about. I am just starting out with a few projects, though, and what I have done thus far, is try and distance myself from the website after finishing it. The handover includes a couple of hours worth of training on the WP dashboard, with going a bit more in-depth on editing and other functions they might need to use more often, but also includes stuff on plugins, general settings, etc. However, I do give the client full admin access to the site. My idea is (which the 2 clients appeared to appreciate) that they have full access to everything, but I remain available for 6 months for support purposes, in case something breaks. What do you think about that? There is definitely a reason you have chosen the approach you have and it would be very interesting to hear the reasoning behind it.
Interesting approach you have there. It sounds great. But from my experience the clients are gonna call you anyway when something breaks. The fact that they have full control doesn’t make a different for them if they don’t know how to solve it. And you are probably the one who knows how to fix it the fastest because you build it. And if they pay money for the fix then I don’t see a problem. Most of the time a plugin update or license is the issue anyway. So personally I wouldn’t go for this approach you are proposing. But it’s definitely somewhere I think about because support isn’t also my biggest hobby, even though I learn from it.
@@rinodeboer Hmm... You're probably right. Might need to go for an approach similar to yours with a support "subscription". If they won't want that, make it clear they understand the minimal cost for a fix, which can go up depending on the complexity of the issue. I really like to cross things out of my to do list and then never think about them again, but I guess I was just being too optimistic there, but have to keep human nature in mind. Will probably give them full on admin access only if they don't go for the subscription. So then they can still try to google the solution themselves. And if they get a site critical error when trying to fix it... Well... Means it probably won't be the minimal cost I will be applying for the fix :D Thanks for the reply mate, much appreciated.
Great video, is helping me a lot. How about a video of your workflow when you receive a potential new client (your first questions, quotation, websites examples, etc)
