Southern Rock is hard to beat for its heart.
Blackfoot was named to represent the American Indian heritage of its members: Jakson Spires (from Oklahoma) had a Cheyenne/French father and a Cherokee mother; Rickey Medlocke's father was Lakota Sioux and Blackfoot Indian, and his mother's side is Creek/Cherokee, Scottish and Irish; Greg "Two Wolf" Walker is part Eastern (Muskogee) Creek, a tribe recognized by the state of Florida, but not federally. Charlie Hargrett was the only white man of the original, classic line-up.
'Lynyrd Skynyrd' had "Freebird" trying to one up 'The Allman Brothers' live jam sessions. Then 'The Outlaws' said "Hold My Beer" with "Green Grass and High Tides". Equally impressive. Finally 'Blackfoot' came along a few years later and told everyone that we can play that game, too.
I had "Memory of Elizabeth Reed" in front of "Freebird" but no matter how you shake it southern rockers of the 70`s & 80`s just cranked out the jam
You may have noticed most every classic southern rock band had at least two lead guitarist like L.S., Outlaws, Allman Bros. Molly Hatchet... all of them
I have seen them all.I was fortunate to be a long haired teenager and a lover of Rock music in 1970.
@@franksullivan1873 Me Too.... 16 in 1970 and enjoying every minute of it. Just tuned 70 last April 17th.
Yep... 38 Special..
@@scottmatzeder9162 The Good Old Days.... Yep
and I'll never complain!!! 😂😂🤣🤣😅😅🤣🤣
Blackfoot was such a great live band as well, seen them in the early 80s,you should check out -Train,Train, such a good song
Another Great Classic Southern Rock Band from the 70s. Can't go wrong. Rickey Medlocke on guitar. In 1997, Medlocke disbanded the group, and joined Lynyrd Skynyrd.
THE most underrated southern rock band!!
Saw them in early 1980 in Indianapolis..They opened for REO Speedwagon..
Man, I forgot how good this song is! 😎
This one is fire 🔥 love it
Rickey Medlocke is one of the best. A multi instrument talent. He played drums and sang some lead vocals for Skynyrd before going back to Blackfoot. Blackfoot is my favorite Southern Rock band. “Diary of a Working Man”, “Fox Chase”, and many more great songs!
Kudos to the guitarists Rickey Medlocke and Charlie Hargrett!!... Medlocke was also lead vocalist..
wow someone reviewing blackfoot - great band and thanks.
Blackfoot is an American Southern rock band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1970. Though they primarily play with a Southern rock style, they are also known as a hard rock act. Blackfoot to represent the American Indian heritage of its members: Jakson Spires (from Oklahoma) had a Cheyenne/French father and a Cherokee mother; Rickey Medlocke's father was Lakota Sioux and Blackfoot Indian, and his mother's side is Creek/Cherokee, Scottish and Irish; Greg "Two Wolf" Walker is part Eastern (Muskogee) Creek, a tribe recognized by the state of Florida, but not federally. Charlie Hargrett was the only white man of the original, classic line-up.
Thumping that bass as the bus leaves the station
Love these guys !
Good song choice.... Thanks.
Edit... Great cruising tune... Obviously.
Train Train next ! Loved your reaction on this one....quite the jam second half.
Yes, Yes, Yes!!!
she's a banger!
The live video in Zurich Switzerland from 1979 is a huge favorite of mine. Great song. Great performance. A real powerhouse. This version is so good but the live video is astonishing. At a live concert it's just massive. I knew you would love this and have good insights for us. You always do.
These guys were just simply bad-ass live. Shame they aren’t still together.
epic classic rock. Such a good song. This was a kegger standard back in the early 80s!
Grew up in Eastern Washington , as rich as a stump and we loved! Southern Rock!
Second favorite of mine Teenage Idol
Left Turn on a Redlight....make that your next choice ;)
Gr8 album
Love the native american influence in the voice and the instruments. Great guitar solo. Its a very nostagic song for some reason.
This is one of those songs warrior just cruising along and next thing you know you got the pedal to the metal and possibly flashing lights in the distance
Probably the best song ever played on FM radio.
Great reaction!
Awesome song!!! Never heard this one before but man great vocals and spectacular guitars. I wonder was this a project by members of the Outlaws, cause this sounds a lot like something they'd do. Great suggestion!
I was going to say they sound just like the Outlaws with dueling guitars
I thoroughly enjoy watching people react to this song for the first time and your reaction did not disappoint. 👍 Another song with the same composition is Boogie No More by Molly Hatchet.
Blackfoot Strikes is a fantastic album, every song on it rocks.
I`m not from a tribe, only just a mere clan...this Blackfoot classic is a top ten southern rock jam...I`ve had the pleasure of going to stadium shows when they would open and they just set the day off in the right direction...our short lived corner bar band had this one as our last jam of the night...I certainly enjoy your selection JMBOY and keep on rockin, brother
Wolf clan here
Southern rock had great guitarists in their bands. The guitar solos are amazing and enough even if there weren’t vocals.
Every song on this album Blackfoot Strikes is gold! Please check out Molly Hatchet! They will melt your ears with their guitar solos!
Take a listen to Thin Lizzy's Chinatown. Awesome song, and also has the dual lead guitarists with dual leads in the song. Well worth it.
as mentioned below diary of a working man is class
You know Blackfoot are black that’s why they got so much soul every member has some black blood in them
The Florida guitar armies. LS, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot
Great reaction! This song is so incredible it's hard to believe it's possible. Another good one of theirs is "Left Turn on a Red Light". In addition to the studio version, I highly recommend this live one: ruclips.net/video/dx-7vjmDUuE/видео.html (even if it isn't all the original members).
Buckle Up !
Guitars were more than great, they kicked it through the roof!
1. WAR PIGS 1a. HIGHWAY SONG 2. FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS

Grrst!
Real Musicians.
Not this crap we have today.
Yes, they did and more times than not they were both very good. The outlaws, another one.
