Nice tips thanks! PS - Did you forget to mention that you should only use distilled water? Or were you implying that normal hose water is ok when placed outdoors?
Hi there ....I'm glad you found value in the video. Yes I forgot to mention that soft water should be used. The whole idea is to flush any dissolved salts so it makes sense that the water doing the flushing has few or no dissolved salts in it. Happy growing !
Hi there ......you want the peat moss to constantly be damp and never to dry out. The easiest way to do this is by constantly having your pot plant in a tray of water .During winter its a good idea to reduce watering by allowing the water tray to dry out between watering. This will help prevent mould forming on dead leaves which form during the winter months. Never allow the peat moss to dry out completely.
Hi there....excellent question! Like clay pots leeching can occur over time with clay trays. This is where you get a white crystal forming around the edges of the pot or tray. This is what happens when you use tap water that has dissolved salts in it. This is because clay is very porous and exudes or leeches those dissolved salts. Plastic on the other hand is non porous so you don't get this issue I would recommend plastic trays anr pots for your carnivorous plants. They give you peace of mind and confidence when growing your carnivorous plants. .....hapoy growing!
Yes I've feed 2 flies and 1ant and but I think it was outside so they land on the flytrap and they'd land on of those 4 to 6 trigger hairs and they've snaped so my venus flytrap died so I've got fang venus flytrap that I was talking about and once a fly lands on the trap and shouts and opens back up is they a dead fly or its gone
That Venus Fly tram looks awesome.
Thanks ........there's been heaps of insects around thanks to our wet summer and this is reflected in the health of the plants.
Great tips, straight to the point, appreciate it.
Awesome! Should I water the flytraps of the sarracinia Purpurea? If so, should I fill it up completely?
Yes .....just have have the pot sitting in a tray of water like I suggested in the video.
Alright, thank you!
Such good info... thanks.
You're welcome........give these plants a go ......they're really worth it!
Hi Jerry, is it okay to put my sarracenia plant in a ceramic pot?
Hi Eline ....yes it should be ok to place your plant into a ceramic pot.
@@succulentflytraps thanks so much! I'm new to the carnivorous plants scene and your videos helped me a lot today 👌
@@elinesa Hi there ....glad to help you out....as always Happy Growing!
Hi do you put water inside the pitchers of sarracenia? Thanks
Hi there ....water is absorbed through the roots into the pitchers themselves. They can also get water inside the pitchers when it rains.
@@succulentflytraps hi thanks for answering and helping

How long should I have the plant sitting in water?

What if I use a deep glass plate to water my sarracenia?
Hi there ......that should be fine....happy growing!
I use clay treys is that good?

@@succulentflytraps This might come of as a no brainer but just to be sure, do you still water the plant if you're using trays?
Have you feed a venus fly trap harlequin bug before
No I haven't. So far I've only fed my plants slugs, caterpillars and flies. Have you?
Yes I've feed 2 flies and 1ant and but I think it was outside so they land on the flytrap and they'd land on of those 4 to 6 trigger hairs and they've snaped so my venus flytrap died so I've got fang venus flytrap that I was talking about and once a fly lands on the trap and shouts and opens back up is they a dead fly or its gone
Well technically the bigger tray is worst. Those big pots bottom take space. There is less room for water
