Brilliant, Kev, Great to see the welding detail for the newbies on here 🙂
Thanks! I try to get the camera in now and then to show some detail… luckily that welding went really well 😁
Kev, Just a little tip when you replace the the inner dash top & bulkhead and scuttle fit your windscreen back in without the filler strip as you may find you
have areas that need to be cleaned up more before painting. This caught me out on my Cooper build and we then had to touch up the windscreen surround.
Also the closing panels for the scuttle will need to be welded in before the wings go on. Dry fitting everything is the way to go with self tappers 😉Good Luck.
Cheers Dave
Thanks Dave I appreciate the help and thank you for this information 👌🏼
That top rail is a mess 😮. You'll smash it. Nice welding around the shock mounts.
Thanks buddy… plenty to do 👍🏻
Great Work Kev.It looks really solid apart from the scuttle.
Thanks ruby 😆 yeah a few areas to fabricate etc so plenty to keep me busy
Nice work Kevin. You appear to have the welder settings dialled in nicely.
Sometimes it takes a while for it to get going and can be hit n miss with the old beast but if I do another mini I would definitely upgrade it….
Well done Kev, it didn't look too bad 👍
Yeah I sort of expected a lot of rot but it’s not too bad…. Just some awkward areas to fabricate and let in…. You know what it’s like
Well done mate. I honestly love watching this journey and each chapter of it. Every episode is more in-depth and although there’s a lot of grinding, cutting and welding, it’s still just as fun to watch the progress step by step.
Keep up the great work mate, love the journey!
Tomo
Thanks a ton! If only you was closer to meet up talk minis and create some mega content
@@PocketRocketGarage you’d probably have to install another door bell to signal when you wanted me to go home, otherwise I’d move straight in 😂
To be honest, it doesn't look too bad: there's still a lot of solid metal there. Even if you have complete new panels it is sometimes better to use only part of them and to keep what remains of the really sound original parts so that you maintain alignments and reduce the amount of spot welds you have to remove. Best wishes.
Yes that’s why I will repair the inner wings and I wanted to save the scuttle but it was too far gone and it makes send to replace it…. I’m looking forward to getting fresh metal in 👍🏻
Great video again mate. Shame about the top of the bulkhead, but sure you'll make the repairs look easy. 😎
Thanks Mark… your welding course has really made a difference! A fair amount of repair work on the inner wings in areas but it could have been worse….. I think! The top of the bulkhead is a mess 🙃
@@PocketRocketGarage, F**k off 😂 Yes, inner wings could've been much worse. Yes it is but a man with your skills will sort it no problem. 🙂
Awesome work, just about to pull the engine out and start on the front of mine, what do you use for cleaning all the grime off the panels ?
I use Muc Off bike spray or car wash and a microfibre cloth… the muc off is brilliant to be honest!
@PocketRocketGarage awesome I will give it a try, all I will need to do is get some slightly thicker sheet metal currently I have .9mm now sure but I think the inner wings might be thicker than that 🤔
sills on the celica are gone, when can i book it in 😁
You being serious?? First customer?
@@PocketRocketGarage Ill let you know after the MOT i cant see the extent but i will need someone to do it, a garage did it a few years ago but ill send you the pictures of what they did. its shocking
I need some advice , hoping you can help , I have spent the last 4 years trying to rebuild a 66 barn find mini van , just about got there only to find the doors will not fit properly , it looks as though the front end has dropped by about an inch , is there any way I can jack it back into place , mind you all work is outside on the drive . Thanks Jerry
How has it dropped? Are you sure the A panel and front end are in the correct place? Did you fit the front end whilst having the subframe in place?
Can you give me the window measurements? Cut mini out without doing that
Yes I can, are you on instagram? As I can share some photos
@@PocketRocketGarage yes, just followed you, Richard
